Wow dude!!!! I had troubles breathing specially during the surging!!! Your exhaust is scary!!! Fantastic job dude! Now if you had one video of it on the strip :)
Man, hats off to you for a great slideshow . You sure transformed that beast into a beast on steriods. Have you got a video of it at the strip completed as shown ? Would love to see it run. Let me know. Thanks.
Great car and fantastic experince you have had, but can you tell me where you bought the airscoop ontop of the blower from? and would it fit an single carb set up or is it made for roots superchargers?
SEE NOW ALL AMERICANS DONT BUY AMERICAN>> fact from this video..domestic heart in an import body. great job man.. japanese imports are by far the most compatible with power and other projects unbeknownst to men IMHO
NICE CAR, im geting a datsun 180z 1975 for my first car too, yay im so excited, i love the car, its my baby, but yours, now that is a CAR lol cool sh^t man
I raced a sedan one night that surged so bad it would chirp the back wheels when he would try and park up. Needless to say I shouldnt have raced him, it ran a 9.70 with street tires and I ran 10.10. I was impressed, everything was under hood.
whats with all the nice datsun being ruined with idiot chev v8s?? there a datsun not a fucking chev go get some chev or holden car to bloody ruin dickhead
@theleakytaps Whats with the idiots bashing those with a different taste? Datsuns didn't have a V8 and he wanted one. Shut the fuck up and keep your idiotic opinion to yourself.
@halusions hahaha i think it is ugly in my view, i just dnt flow good with a fuckin dinosour stinking out of da hood lol how dus he see around it???? lol i like the small hood scoops perferably....=)
@drauglintuor i got a 350z now i love i would have probley got like a rb26 or somethin but i didnt really have the money to put in to it i like the older ones too though
I think its kinda weird that people that have a foreign race car, usually have an American made engine that's built or blown or boosted. lol what does that tell you
its half of a skyline motor, its a hybrid of a skyline motor (RB26 head) and a RB30 bottom end, makes it DOHC and im pretty sure they went with the 3L for more bottom end torque
yep im pretty sure i jizzed in my pants a little there... beautiful man...i have always loved how much room the engine bay in those 240s had...its almost as if those guys over in japan wanted guys like you do do this kind of stuff:)
oh my dear sweet jebus, this is so god damn ridiculous in all the right ways my friend, amazing fabrication work on the intake and that radiator, out fucking standing man, im blown away, i knew they had room and a large engine bay but this is pushing my limits of knowing what it can take, sweet!!
Why the hell would you put a supercharged series 2 heavy as fuck GM pushrod v6 in your '85 300ZX? Why not the SOHC turbo 3.0L V6 thats lighter, and makes almost as much hp and more torque at less boost, and can make 250+whp and over 300ft lbs of torque on the stock turbo and fuel system?
Several reasons. The 3800 is bulletproof. It's made the Wards Best Engine top 5 three years in a row. It's easy to work on, makes metric buttloads of power, consistantly. No turbo nonsense, no intercooler, no extra heat, plus 30+ miles to the gallon.
@turbohusque LOLOLOL. the supercharged 3800 is FAR from bulletproof. We've gone through atleast 4 series 2 3800s in a Supercharged SSEi Bonneville. It keeps breaking rods.
I'd go with a Nissan VQ series engine first, the VQ35. 300hp NA is hard to beat, boost it (supercharged, stillen roots type) and you're worlds ahead of the crappy 3800. Not to mention the VQ was on wards best list from 1995-2009.
I am finding that that surging at idle is sometimes common with Roots style blowers. If you set them up a little too rich at idle they will do that. It becomes even more pronounced if I speed the blower up. After spending several hours of experimenting I have achieved an Idle that has very little surge for street driving, but so far my track tune up still has a little more surge than I would like. I am still trying different things to try and minimize the surge and still respond well.
My 240 is being stripped over winter, a few changes to be made and a general tidy up, you must be just sbout ready to go again now? Keep me posted and best of luck!! 8.71 to beat, lol
hey i curently own a 240sx but i want a datsun for a project car so i can build it... how much do u think i can get one for running???? thanks for any help anyone can give me....
BRAVO!! I'm running a 302W in my '73 240Z and have been toying with the idea of a blower for a few years now. Awesome to see the actual product of those thoughts. Well done, an instant favorite!!
I can relate to all the long hours of work you have put in, good luck and keep us posted with progress at the strip, I'll be heading back to the strip shortly with the Datsun/nissan sister car on this side of the world.
I'm from Oz and I know of only one person who has done a similar conversion. Chev 350 in a datsun 260Z. His was street registered and NA it ran low 10's. He is using the same motor now rebuilt with twin turbos in a HJ Ute fully tubbed etc. I would be interested to know if you got your 8.9 ET. Awsome build mate, I take my hat off to you.
I got me a 1970 Datsun pl521 pickup. Can't wait to make it a beast.
