  • donating 1000$

  • I like the color of the feathers blue is my favorite color but I wasnt expecting the little bit of yellow on the macaws mouth thats different because in the movie Rlo blu and jewel didnt have that yellow suff on its mouth oh and that yellow bird in the movie is funny and awesme plus I like his singing with that chubby bird I think I remeber the name of it I think it was pedro and nico oh and that other bird that was a toucan his name was ralfeal well I dont know how to spell his name great video

  • @11froilan I think Rio is based on the Spix macaw.

  • its nice to see macaws and parrots holding their food in their feet and eating...

    how sweet

  • que limdo

  • BEAUTIFUL ART OF GOD.

  • I LOVE THEM ^^

  • I want to have a massive zoo thing raising these birds and releasing them into the wild now haha..didn't realize there weren't so many in the wild :(

  • ahh cool, sweet wonderfull

i'm happy to know that my fav birds still alive in this world ^^

    THX god !!

  • Beautiful birds they are

  • Look at those gentle giants. Love Hyacinths!

  • omg i want one.

  • All the birds of a feather...

  • beautiful creatures <3 <3 <3

  • just beautiful

  • Rio

  • These things look soooo odd! It kinda reminds me of Pokemon for some reason....however, it is fun to look at exotic things.

  • @yummycalorie "These things look soooo odd! It kinda reminds me of Pokemon for some reason...."

Wow. I was wondering when I was gonna read some creepy videogame stuff like that on a nature vid .....

    disgusting

  • They must be Blu's family (Rio) thumps up if you agree!

  • @MrShapiroman he's actually a spix macaw. i highly recomend you do a little research on them(sounds like I'm dissing you but im not being sarcastic). I believe they are one of the most endangered animals. tell me what you think

  • @ShreddGamer14 there are no Spinx's macaws left in the wild, and there are (i think) around 60 in captivity.

  • @IDesertfireI thats pretty much what I said

  • @IDesertfireI that's awful.

  • they're so beautiful!!! ;)

  • thats at least 140.000$ worth of birds right there lol

  • WHERE CAN WE BUY ONE? Me and my Dad want one soo bad

  • @tobyhel0 You'd have to find a breeder. But they're super expensive. More than $1000 depending on where you get it, and that's not even including a large enough cage which can cost you another couple hundred. A bird like that's an investment!

  • @BiTTjl yes I have a Green Winged and a Blue and Gold. We want a Hyacinth.

  • @BiTTjl Actually, these birds go for as much as 10 to 12,000$.

  • @venicvenic It may differ depending on location. Point is though they aren't cheap.

  • @BiTTjl Good point. Macaw size cages are generally VERY expensive. But there is a lot more to think about than expense. Birds are a HUGE amount of work. I spend at least an hour in the morning making breakfast and cleaning. I wash dishes (bird dishes) three times a day. They need out time, and individual attention. And not even mentioning when one gets sick... ugh...huge responsibility. Anyone who considers getting a bird should think about all of that first so they are prepared.

  • marvelous i wish i could have a pair of them my heart would be filled but still its ok if i dont have one i already have a indian rose necked parrot my father gave me even though i wanted a scarlet macaw

  • this makes me want to buy a male and female and have them mat- wait Birds dont mate this makes me want to buy a female and help it give birth when its ready..

  • its really sad that these birds are endangered :/ id give any thing to be able to raise one of these. these birds arent just birds to some people, they can very well out live you. i know if i were privileged to raise one, i would treat it like my own flesh and blood

  • All animals should have a price, that way when they get rare the price will go up and more people will be interested in breeding them.

We will never run out of oil because as we use it up the price raises.

Government protection of wildlife is spotty at best, individuals such as the person who runs parrot.org are much more trustworthy then a democratic government that can change every few years.

Look up "free-market environmentalism", to see more of what I mean.

  • Such marvelous creatures! : ))

  • OMG RIO< SO GOOD

  • Even though they are the largest parrots, they should be nick named "Gentle Giants".

I once tried to feed one. Their beaks are HUGE compared to other parrots, so I was scared that it might bite my whole hand off, lol. But the bird took the food from me, moving his beak so slowly when close to my hands that I was almost shocked.

    Amazing, beautiful birds!

  • I hope the movie Rio doesn't result in a surge of people adopting macaws and then abandoning them :(

  • @scorchedcandy it would be awful :(

  • Stunning birds. They're more beautiful in the wild!

  • These are the birds that are in the movie (Rio) animation easily cost $5000.00 each depending on gender

  • I want to donate, too. But unfortunately I am an overly-ambitious, poor college student.

  • I SRSLY DO WANT TO DONATE. I WANNA DONATE 1 MILLION DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!But our family is already backed up on bills and money. And also why does it cost money to save a life?If ppl cared, they would save gods beautiful creations for free!

  • Do hyacinth macaws eat brazil nuts in the wild? I feed pet store macaws brazil nuts and they open them with ease, their mouth parts seem perfectly shaped to scoop out the nut from the shell!

  • @2degucitas No, in the wild they eat humans.

  • @zvegasz o_O !!!!!!!! Oh noez!!

  • man ther are beutful birds

  • If you think you are getting a deal with a wild caught parrot forget it. They are apt to be vicious. A Hyacinth Macaw can take a finger offer. If youbuy a parrot go to a professional breeder who hand raises the babies. These bond with humans. Hyacinths aren't the best choice for amatuers. Their food requirements are stricter. Parrots can be very jealous of new additions to your family.

  • Look at their cute little faces!=D

  • My uncle had one that got jealous if you were on the phone with someone and he'd hang upside down and yell HELP! HELP!

He also yelled that if a cat or dog got too close lol

  • They are spectacular.

  • i hate macaws :[ and i love amazon and the african grey

  • @QTRxPho3nix

    How can someone hate them?!?!?!

  • i want one of these so i could make it happy! ^^

and because they are so pretty.

  • BEAUTIFUL PERROT *_* I LOVE IT ! ! *_*

  • So beautiful, I wish they weren't endangered,

  • BELLO BELLO BELLO

  • beautiful awesomeness

  • MONEY!!

  • I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • so beautiful, there are so many beautiful gods creatinos in the wild

  • fauna of Brazil is rich unfortunately for you Americans fauna is poor and you have to steal animals from other faunas to put in your zoo when it comes to the U.S. this is a country of people envious of evil that only pence in cash and really greedy and arrogant people bad

  • @Nero46able Try not to judge all the American zoos too harshly. Some of them breed endangered species as well as encourage people to help donate for reservations across the world.

  • @Nero46able Perhaps you should do some research on bird poaching. It is most often the indigenous people of a country that catch the birds and smuggle them off to be sold for their own greed of money they know they can get from American and Europe. Watch the videos of birds being poached on parrotsdotorg's channel - clearly those are LOCALS trapping and making by selling those birds.

  • I waaaant~ D=

  • their colors are much more vibrant in the wild then in captivity

  • and the current population?

    hopefully HIGHER...

  • wow

  • awww. soooo cute!

  • can they talk?

  • @mike82y every single parrot in the world (even the smallest of parrots, a parotlet) has the ability to mimic and make words. Some are just much better than others. i know this was an old comment u left but i felt like i had to reply lol sorry.

  • uhmm just want to say thats not how you spell andorynchus hyacinthinus

  • they have one of those kind of bird in thebird pet store where i go

  • their so pretty.

  • I used to see all of these beautiful birds like the Hyacinth Macaw and the Moluccan Cockatoo performing all kinds of tricks and hope that I could have one in my future family when I became older. Now I realize how beautiful these creatures really are in their native habitats and that they deserve the dignity of living for a better purpose than our petty entertainment.

  • beautiful!!!!!!

  • They look so happy in the wild where they belong. (Oh, and here's something to add to below: HYACINTHS ARE THE LARGEST PARROT, WHILE KAKAPOS ARE THE HEAVIEST)

  • I sure hope people wise up and donate to habitat and allow these animals to be free.

  • i love birds, dogs, fish but cats are pests

  • beautiful creatures <3

  • such a big beak :3

  • Correction required for video text. This is the largest flighted parrot in the world. The kakapo is the largest parrot in the world.

  • thaks for up loading this five stars and made it a favorite FT

  • i have a stuffed animal toy of one of those and they said if you buy it the money wll go to some charity or something to save the macaws so i got it.

    those birds are beeeeeeeeautiful.

    =D

  • Me Too

  • Even in Brazil (native country of this bird) are rare to spot these birds. Many biologists are performing huge efforsts in order to breed this bird, but is very difficult and slow.

  • Comment removed

  • It's sad that when people see a beautiful animal like this living free in the wild, all they can think of is money ... someday that will change we hope!

  • @parrotsdotorg ehh dude, I hope that never happen, but we are pretty close to that, its called a Hooker.

  • @parrotsdotorg does the population has been bigger?

  • @parrotsdotorg Actually i would want on e as a companion.

  • it's sad how about 12 of the 19 macaw species are either vulnerable, endangered and extinct really tragic..

  • Love them

  • Thats over $100,000 sitting on the floor i hope poachers dont get ahold of them

  • when i was in brasil they told me that if you killed a man you would get 2 to 5 years but if you hurt this parrot or any other wild parrot you'd get life hahahaha how great is that

  • ye, there protected. its funny that you get life.

  • haha yea that is crazy. It also might have something to do with the fact that they are an endangered species and human beings certainly aren't. LOL.

  • it makes sense

    you kill a man

    just one less man

you kill one of these critically endangered birds

and you can wipe a species out =P

  • All our fault... If we breeded less each of us would be more valuable to the whole species. ^_^

  • That's how they should be.

  • They all look like they are always smiling in this video...very happy.

  • So freaking awesome!

  • Much work to do to save these incredible birds

  • Very beautiful birds and great to see so many together!

  • they have a wingspan of 120-140 cm as they are the largest parrot in the world and leanght form beak to tail is 39 inches

  • These have always been my favourite macaw - beautiful!:)

  • awsome

  • I want one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how can they be so peaceful and happy and gentle and still survive out in the wild? Good to see that not only the nasty survive.

  • Truly a remarkable animal...

  • I am a parrot owner. And Macaws are by far my favorite. What makes me sad is one, they are endagered. They are two beautiful to be pets, or to be captured. They deserve to be free and wild. What makes me mad is they are not only endagered because of the capturing but because of the brasilian carnvial. (they use there feathers for the costumes) I know I am brasilian. It makes me ashamed of my own country,

  • i would love to be part of a breeding/repopulation project with hyacinths-I am so worried they will be extinct

  • The Hyacinths are magnificant and we have to wake up and help them or soon we will have no more left in the wild for our children to see.

  • Hellen Keller's favorite color is hyacinth... and that's saying something.

  • I agree with myroosterwilleatyou! I LOVE hyacinth macaws =) It really must be like having a prehistoric creature for a pet, lol! I'd love to get one someday.

  • They sound so prehistoric- I just love their call. They are my favorite color too ^_^

  • Beautiful video!

  • Awesome. I've seen these in the Pantanal. Very intelligent birds. Great video!

  • I have worked with these birds before and they are truely spectacular!! The best place for them is the wild. Even a tame one and do damage to your hand...lots of damage!!

  • illegal comerce bird?

    Deixem nossos passaros livres.

    FREE.

  • omg i saw one of these in a bird store-theyre like puppies if theyre hand tamed

  • that comment was to syalala

  • enjoy the great birds in the wild and don't think about the money, because they are Are Close to Extict and thats really sad.and to parrotsdotorg.you do a great job

  • Thanks Jango. The Hyacinths are doing well in the wild, many thousands and likely growing in number due to protection.

It's unfortunate that people still look at wild animals and see dollar signs, but people used to look at trees this way and a few still do. Luckily more and more people - even in Brazil - are seeing and appreciating these amazing creatures in the wild.

  • i'm owned by 5 parrots here and it always just makes me mad,if i hear stupid comments, like from syalala, hyancinths are one of my dream birds and maybe one day i will be owned by them too,i really would like to breed them,to support the breeding programs, not to make money, but i know, they are really hard to breed in captivity,so i tink it will be just a dream, but i adore those birds in the wild and i'll go back one day to brazil and see them again in the wild.

  • enjoy the great birds in the wild and don't think about the money, because they are Are Close to Extict and thats really sad.and to parrotsdotorg.you do a great job

  • dont be greedy you scrooge, these poor macaws are near extinction and shouldnt be exploited for money!!!!!

  • I'm going to have to agree with cockatielover, there's only a few thousand left in the wild

  • IS it True These Things Are Close to Extict?

  • Seeing these magnificant birds in the wild is life changing and like seeing something magical. Parrots are very intelligent and their minds are always working.

  • wow ive never heard of these exotic birds!

  • It´s a palm nut called "macauba" or "macauva" and it´s very common in Brazil. Macaws and parrots like this nut. Its consumption can be made by humans too.

  • Thank you for this!!

  • Right, it sort of looks like the bird is not wanting to give up the second nut - like it's hoarding a bit - preventing another bird from getting that prize nut or something ... in fact when it finished the balanced nut, it only gave the second one a brief bite and promptly dropped it in search of something better ... funny birds these are!

  • Balancing the one brazil nut on top of the other...seems as though he doesn't want to waste any time in getting the next one...he's grabbing a 'handful" so to speak! Rather reminiscent of human behavior, it seems to me. I also love how they contentedly "coo" as they eat, and how they move over to allow each other to "take turns"!

  • Oops!!! I meant to say palm nuts, not brazil nuts... :-)
