The problem is that what Jeter demonstrates in the commentary, and what he actually does in the game clip, are two completely different things.

but what he is saying about keeping his hands inside the baseball is something completely different. You can tell in that clip of him hitting he got beat inside, and at one point in the clip you slowed down on your site you can see his bat is dragging through beacuse of how he pulls his hands until he finally rotates and powers through that ball....that ball was not hit hard and was just a seeing eye single through the middle....

While Jeter admittedly didn't make great contact on the ball (he was over it a bit due to its being a curve that also busted him inside), the swing he uses in the clip is his standard swing.

The swing that he demonstrates at the start of the clip isn't at all what his real swing looks like.

Also, the bat doesn't drag through the zone, it just lags and then whips out at the last second due to the rotation.

As I said above, there's no question that Jeter got beat inside; the ball moved inside on him more than he thought it would. It was a hanging fastball that he was looking to crush, but instead got a bit jammed on.

However, the point is that he NEVER would have been able to hit that pitch using the swing he demonstrated. Just keeping the hands inside the ball isn't enough.

well you guys gotta remember that in this demonstration,Jeter's trying to pull the ball to emphasize the fact that he beat an inside pitch. His natural tendency though, if you watch him play often (NYC born and raised, i know the Yankees inside and out), hes a hitter that waits for pitches to travel deeper in the zone before swinging, thats why he hits it up the middle or the other way every time.He rarely ever pulls the ball so his instincts prob conflicted with his instincts and that happened.
