bruce has so many great fights you just don't know where to begin, shoutout to prttykitty for using rage against the machine for some kickass music for bruce to fight by.Thank you for a great tribute to a great man.Check out my comment on tagline green hornet footage, bruce lee, kato vs robin and hit me back.
I read somewhere that they asked bruce lee to slow down during the fight scenes because the film equipment couldn't capture the full sequences of his motions.
@CommandAndCommentary yes bruce had to slow down cuz he was to fast for the camera. Then it would just look to sloppy and the opponent had a hard time acting getting hit..cuz they couldnt time he kick and punch combinations. So he slowed down...Still you see great technique and skill. Kato Rocks!
Great tribute Saros. Bruce Lee is deserving of any praise and tribute. Even by todays martial arts standards. Bruce's style was "Top Gun". Bruce Lee is a pioneer not only in martial arts, but for the asian film community. Stars like Jet Li, Jackie Chan and Sho Kosugi owe their livlihoods to the true "Master" Bruce Lee ! Gone but never forgotten!!
He is holding back in some of the Green Hornet footage. Also, the cameras of that time could not capture the speed of his movements so the TV executives told him to slow down. He stood apart because he was so fast.
Back in the day there was a Chinese law (underground law) that kung fu was not to be taught to Caucasians or anyother non-asians. Bruce Lee was threatened with death if he continued to teach non-asians. He invented his own style of martial arts to get around the Chinese laws. Today we have martial arts studios everywhere, this would not have happened without Bruce Lee. Up until Bruce Lee no non asians were taught. Many maritial arts experts still think he is best martial aritist in world.
@Kathylouu William Cheung had that some problem seeing as they both went out and did the same thing together in different countries. they were best friends.
The Green Hornet tv series debuted prior to Bruce Lee's development of Jeet Kune Do (JKD) which was his "no style" martial arts system. To think that he was not a martial artist is saying Michaelangelo didn't know how to paint.
not true. he develpoed jkd while in college and was discovered by green hornet producers when promoting his book on jkd.. he wrote the book after injuring his back doing weights.
@rufusbone - he never actually set out to write a book. it was published after his death, and was merely a collection of his personal notes and drawings. i think you are citing the movie "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story", and there was so much about that film that was factually inaccurate.
cud he even do that, sorry but he seems more for show only, not a real martial artist but neways if he does gud n da new green hornet movie, then ill give him sum props...
For show? he can actually don't say he can't unless you have proof he knows karate he went on a show called atacke of the show he showed some crazy moves bruce would be proud.
ah well he has been asked to do many films for karate but his career as a singer stops him he said that kato is a role he has dreamed of and that he doesn't care about the career.
ohhhhh i c.... cuz i jus kno guys like donnie yen, jet li jackie chan, ken lol kenya sawada, nicholas tse, jing wu, andy on, etc... lol well in martial arts certain styles ur suppose 2 keep a secret and or not show off, so maybe dats wat jay chou wuz doin...
yeah and i also think if he showed his karate and made a career in karate no one would have went to see him sing ya know they would think it would be like chan when he sang war in rush hour.
I also must say that the Kids in Brazil turned the TV just for seeing Kato, the real atraction. From other side, Green hornet character was considered boring, non talented, because he used to do few , with the big money he got.
I hate that they made Bruce use high kicks and high flying judo chops. I wish Bruce could have use his JKD on the show. But the one thing we fail to notice is that these fights were live. And he doesn't sound like he does in the movies.
I found it a thrill to watch Bruce Lee in The Green Hornet when I was a kid. He really stole the show from Van Williams. The one thing I did not like was that Kato was Jap, and I did not understand why Bruce had to play a Jap.
There was only some of Kato's fighting clip (5 min). Plus the track didn't flow with the actions. There was this other clip (10 min) which ends with a Kato and Robin duel. Somehow i can't find it anymore :( But it started with the Black Beauty rollin out and the theme "You gotta keep on step brother..." If any1 have PLEASE repost! Btw, Bruce and Kato still kick @ss!!!
Awsome!! ive never seen the green hornet but after watching that im guessing ive seen everything i would have been looking for anyway lol:) i only want to see bruce kick everyone's ass:)
They did the right thing by hiring Carradine for Kung Fu. Caine was supposed to be a half-breed; Bruce does not look the part. . 1. he won boxing tournaments in HK b4 coming here.
