Please review the comments of posters like some of the ones below with the colorful names, and compare them with the ministry and resume of this distinguished, well-respected pastor, biblical scholar, author, and humanitarian. You can see how qualified they are to judge/digest his words, motives and accomplishments. I'd wager they probably couldn't bear 1/10th the scrutiny they attempt to subject this ministry to, and certainly lack the integrity and calibre of character references & support.
Trinity is not racist. It's hard being a Black Christian given the way Christianity was used to oppress us. I think Trinity is doing a good job encouraging Black Christians.
And they are right. I am black and I enjoy a Black religious experience over any other. The churches are more outward and they preach issues that others will not. 41 percent of White people don't think racism effects Blacks today. HAHA, I wish.

Rev Wright: I wish people could take time to put aside their own prejudices and fears and hear your heart--the totality of what you say. Your sermons have been fiery and difficult at times, but they've also been healing, caring and full of compassion. The enemy blinds them to hearing your love and call for reconciliation. I thought that Barack was not that active in this church? So why would you hold a book signing there? Why can't he just say yes, I attended that church regularly, or just be HONEST.

Planetx666, if you think that Pastor WRIGHT-ON-TIME retiring means that we will STOP speaking the truth and doing the will of God, you're DEAD WRONG. All of our lives, we have sought refuge in the Black church. Refuge from all of our day to day comings & goings. God is not Black, but I AM, and since he fearfully and wonderfully made me, I find no fault in being proud of my beautiful people, culture, and heritage. That does not mean I believe it is superior to anyone else's. But the fact that I am descended from enslaved people, and that there were laws that forced us to be 2nd class citizens has had an effect on my life and the lives of all African-Americans. When were white people slaves in America? And the whites who were treated as 2nd class citizens in America were able to assimilate because of their white skin! Blacks have never been able to do that. Oh, and perhaps you should look into our 100+ ministries that serve various communities in Chicago, the nation, and abroad. This is primarily what our church is about. It is not our fault that the media has decided to lie and say that our church is ALL about one thing or another.

Please review the comments of posters like some of the ones below with the colorful names, and compare them with the ministry and resume of this distinguished, well-respected pastor, biblical scholar, author, and humanitarian. You can see how qualified they are to judge/digest his words, motives and accomplishments. I'd wager they probably couldn't bear 1/10th the scrutiny they attempt to subject this ministry to, and certainly lack the integrity and calibre of character references & support.

Trinity is not racist. It's hard being a Black Christian given the way Christianity was used to oppress us. I think Trinity is doing a good job encouraging Black Christians.
And they are right. I am black and I enjoy a Black religious experience over any other. The churches are more outward and they preach issues that others will not. 41 percent of White people don't think racism effects Blacks today. HAHA, I wish.

Your sermons have been fiery and difficult at times, but they've also been healing, caring and full of compassion. The enemy blinds them to hearing your love and call for reconciliation. Is this evidence of a relationship between Clinton and Wright? No, but the photo demonstrates Wright was not considered a lunatic fringe preacher, but a prominent religious leader. Bill Clinton clearly thought Rev. Wright acceptable enough to be invited to the White House.

They were not reciting the pledge of allegiance when that photo was taken; they were playing the National Anthem. It's not proper to place your hand over your heart during the National Anthem. If you're going to make an accusation, make sure you have all of your facts straight! I'm not sure what your ethnic background is but I say you should visit the church and not make assumptions about it. Trust me there will be others there who look like you!

Just who do you suppose enslaved the millions of Africans who ended up in the Western Hemisphere? It was the Africans.
The notion that it was white people who introduced slavery to Africa, or who captured most of the slaves themselves, may fit the mindset of those who thought that "Roots" was history, but this myth will not stand up to facts, logic or economics.
Capturing people to sell into slavery was the work of Africans in West Africa and of Arabs and Africans in East Africa.

All of our lives, we have sought refuge in the Black church. Refuge from all of our day to day comings & goings. That could include local issues, national issues, personal issues, financial issues, sexuality issues & health issues. As a result, these types of topics find their way into the pulpit. I believe part of the problem, or surprise is that people are not familiar with the black church. But this is nothing new.

God is not Black, but I AM, and since he fearfully and wonderfully made me, I find no fault in being proud of my beautiful people, culture, and heritage. That does not mean I believe it is superior to anyone else's. Black theology was in response to Black people's dwindling acceptance of Christianity because of the way racist White Americans were using it against us (i.e. using the Bible to justify slavery, racistm, segregation, etc).

Yes, RACE is a fact of life and I believe that diversity is a beautiful thing. However, RACISM should NOT be a fact of life and I believe we should fight against it. No, I was not a slave, and no, you didn't own slaves. But the fact that I am descended from enslaved people, and that there were laws that forced us to be 2nd class citizens has had an effect on my life and the lives of all African-Americans. Remember, the past is simply prologue to the future. It is not disconnected from it.

Trinity is on the South side of chicago in a predominantly poor black neighborhood. They are proud Americans but they also have a different history than most white Americans. They are descendants of African slaves. They are also a group went through alot of adversity in this country. So when you are trying to craft an identity... giving there history, you pick the good aspects, African descent, American, being self-reliant. Once you c
