My lad you are quite right about this cinimatic work of art, it truely stands the test of time.
great cast, grand directorial design, and the list goes own and own! Superb, sublime, can there be anything out there today worth seeing, I think not.
It was in the reign of King George III that the aforementioned personages lived and quarraled. Good or bad, handsome or ugly, rich or poor they are all equal now.
@meNtor890 lol, what's your problem?? Acutally I was referring to the film with my comment, and yes, the film is underestimated, it wasn't a success at all. Just go on wikipedia and go to "Reception". So, it's not just my opinion, just ask someone on the street and they will probably never have heard of the film.
Please stop insulting people, I don't like getting e-mails about some unnecessary unsubstantial comment that some jerk left here.
@satine90 clearly this video right here is about the music and not the film. anyway uncheck the option that e-mail are sent to you, you don't need that, just check comments on your youtube account! hehe, well good day to you sir hope I didn't trouble you too much.
Absusdey93: I have been trying for WEEKS to buy this CD!!! Where did you find yours? I've tried Amazon, Amazon UK, MSI Netherlands, Warner Music, etc. "No available at this time". HELP please!
I don't know if you live in Europe, but maybe you can try in FNAC. I have the DVD but also want the soundtrack, and I found it on their website. They also deliver at home, but don't know how is the international service (I'm not working with them, just in case). Good luck.
This is one of the few films where every single shot could make a great picture. All the Frames in this movie could be put into a frame. The whole damn movie is beautiful. One of the amazing things about it is that there were no lighting kits. the entire thing is done from candlelight and sunligt
a documentary says it was because he got hold of some back projector lenses that were extremely special and no longer in production. They were even good enough for spy satellites.
@gunthaarz Kinda. Stanley got the lenses from Zeiss. Yes, they were space lenses and there had to be a mod to the camera to make them fit. But it worked. Positively the most visually beautiful movie ever made.
Butcha gotta remember Mr. Kubrick was first, last and always a photographer.
@IWantDaveKast I actually just read on imdb that this is merely a myth, for there was artificial lighting used in some scenes. When the son goes up to his father in discovery of the horse, that is not natural. The candle lit scenes were natural though ironically. But totally agree with the cinematography. Its gorgeous.
@JohnRambo - This is true, artificial light is used in many scenes. American Cinematographer magazine did a long piece at the time of its release. But in every case it is designed to LOOK like natural light: no cheating, no fake backlight, etc., all light appearing to come from logical sources, which is rarely the case even in films shot on real locations. This appearance of natural light is among the film's achievements. And of course the candle-lit scenes are indeed lit by candles only.
