  • Oh yes I've had neighbors like that. Still do. This is a good cartoon. I've always enjoyed it.

  • CLASSIC!

  • i remember this!!

  • i wish i could dance like that mouse! hilarious...crank the tunes mouse and get down!!!

  • @letthewinderaseme I loved how the mouse danced as a child. I always used to try to dance with him.

  • I DID actually once have a neighbor like that....unfortunately in order to get him to quiet down I had to thump him up one night (drunk running up and down the hall of the appartment; I had to work next morning; patience wore thin, etc). He was quite a bit quieter after that!

  • You bet! We used to have to suffer a old pickup truck's engine every weekday morning and a radio every Sunday. It's a good thing they've both since stopped.

  • I have been waiting for this since I was five! Thank you! Still so relevant to my life...

  • I'm not sure about the moral of this short - I thought it would be about compromise. Then it ends up with the message that if you intimidate someone enough, they'll leave. At least the mouse thanked the hippo for the tea. Still a nice little short. I love it when the mouse is dancing!

  • I think the moral is to respect your neighbors, keep quiet. Don't be so loud. ya know? But maybe i'm wrong.lol

  • Wow. I haven't seen this in forever. Thanks for posting it.

  • Awesome music! LOL he needs to turn the bass UP and the TREBLE down though. LOL :)

  • I have a neighbor like that. But he and his family aren't THAT loud.

  • I like that mouse, he was awesome.

But he should have known better...

  • Thank you sooo much for sharing! I had always loved the way the cat rolled his eyes up at the end of this. LOL! PeacexXx!!!

  • One question: If quiet made that mouse so nervous, why would he think the hippo's quiet house, was a good place to spend the summer?

  • Well, he arrived with his radio blasting, so maybe he didn't realize just how quiet the place really was.

  • I Loved 1:10-1:18 as a child.

  • You and me both.

  • Oh my gosh, haven't seen this one in ages and was hoping to again! Thanks for posting this!!

  • OK, when I saw this, I believe the mouse's pouring of the tea into his cup was just as loud as the hippo's pouring of the tea into her cup. (I couldn't hear how her pouring was quieter and his was louder)

  • OMG - thank you for posting this! I always thought this was a funny and weird skit. I especially love how the mouse does the funky dance at 1:10-1:16.

  • "Quiet as a mouse" being a relative term, of course.

  • It does seem that hippos would be the loud one and the mice the quiet one, maybe it was supposed to be ironic. Either way, funny ending.

  • I loved this as ca kid. I really would like to know who did the voice of the mouse. It is so familiar.

  • This was probably made before he was popular, but it sounds similar to Jerry Seinfeld. But I don't think that's who it was.

  • I wanted to party with the mouse! He's got great taste in music! Quiet makes me nervous too. I gotta sleep with the TV on.

  • You cannot hear a snail crawl across the floor. Because a snail does not crawl. It has one leg-like appendage that it walks on.

  • this was a big memory from my childhood! And I think that mouse lives upstairs from me as we speak D:

  • I loveeeeeeeed this one as a child. I was always the quiet hippo and my brother was the loud obnoxious mouse sharing a wall with me XD

  • That mouse was just loud and wrong! Though I did like his music. :)

  • Hippos do not live in the country. They live by lakes and rovers in Africa. Uganda is known for them. Also a hippo iS one of the most dangerous animals killing more people than any other animal.

  • Haven't seen this in ages, yes, I remember the mouse crunching on the cookie, banging the nail and dancing to loud music. This is a brilliant one.

  • That mouse can certainly bust a move.

  • "By the way, thanks for the tea!" I knew I'd heard that line somewhere before!

  • shit! i so remember this and the mouse stirring and chewing loud! WOW. Thanks

  • But I don't see a snail crawling across the room.

  • Holy moly, when was the last time I saw this?! Thank you so much!

  • That's not Frank Oz as the voice of the hippo is it? There's a touch of Miss Piggy somewhere in there. And also, the mouse sounds rather familiar, though off hand, I can't lay a finger on it.

  • Sounds like Frank Oz to me. I don't know who could be doing the mouse, though, but I'd be surprised if that hippo WASN'T Frank Oz!

  • I've had family members and roommates like that mouse. Creepy.

  • Me too. Folks in my family have always been on the diminutive side.

  • Sorry I meant at :54 the picture looked like Mickey.

  • Tahnk you so much for posting this one too! I've been waiting for this classic as well. Heh and yes-we have some neighbors who live across the street from us who throw rather loud and noisy parties so we nicknamed them "the Louds"

  • mind you you'd think this insert would've taught about compromise but instead it teaches that if you intimidate someone enough they'll eventually leave.

  • Good point! I never thought of that before. (although the dancing still cracks me up) :)

  • Sometimes even the educational advisors at CTW/Sesame Workshop make mistakes. :)

  • It's her house, and he just busted in and turned her life upside-down. Why should she compromise?

  • Uhmmm...lighten up.

  • My reply was directed @ DiAnno13, not jeffkahl.

  • the funniest is when the mouse is dancing!

  • Yes that part is hillarious! Also at 2:54 that picture the mouse is hanging up looks an awful lot like Mickey.

  • Oh my God, I haven't seen this in like, forever

VVhere do you find all this great stuff?
