  • Pat, why did you sell out...?

  • Pat did somewhat sell out. The orginal version of Carry On is way better. His music is for sure watered down almost pop country...BUT

i saw pat live acouple of weeks ago...he still puts on a damn great show

too bad his albums arent as good anymore :( maybe one day he'll go back to his roots

  • long before this, this guy's music made me want to move to Texas on its own merits. yeah, this is redone and it's nashville'd up, and he's got singles on "country" radio, but it still holds its own weight, and you can't knock what he's put together. great song... anyone knocking this guy is a douche. shut up and appreciate it, or quit following it at all.

  • Sad. Very sad. The was the man about 10-12 years ago, but he has turned from great, to awesome, to oh God here it comes, to flat-out sellout. I hate to admit it, but it's the truth.

  • been a pg fan for nearly a decade and i have to say this version is absolutely terrible.

  • "so he can sell a few more records"

That's the problem...that's what we call a sell out...and didn't change his sound?? are you crazy? listen to the opening chords of the song on this version versus the original....TONS different....sounds way more pop....sounds like i'm listening to it through a tunnel....let's not even mention the way he sings the last few versus or the lack of prominent twin fiddles.....twin fiddles playin really are just a memory now for pat

  • Original version was 10X better...before Nashville touched it

  • Pat is awesome! As a musician, I understand the need to try different things and see where it takes you. That said, Pats old band and sound is beyond cool and I hope to see it come back. Still a fan.

  • He's exploring a new phase in his career. I recall when Pat shifted from his original Texas music - which I'm very fond of to this new Nashville sound. I was mad.

I recently read an interview with him in Texas magazine that gave me some hope though. In it Pat talked about how he was simply exploring a new phase of his career and mentioned how even Willie Nelson, a Texas legend had experimented with Nashville country for a period of his career.

  • Ultimatley, you can't blame any artist for wanting to evolve or explore something new. Everyone does it. People threw a fit when Bob Dylan went electric. No artist wants to become stagnant though.

Perhaps one day Pat will return to his roots and when that day comes I'll be in the front row. Until then.. carry on Pat.

  • this guy is an asshole.

he used to be great but now he is just another Nashville bitch.

    keep true texas country alive!!!!

  • Ugh.....not the same song. Not the same guy who used to plane Gruene Hall. Too bad. His music used to speak to me....now, not so much.

  • crap re-make i miss the pat green i saw at the HLSR when he played at the dome sorry pat just aint the same

  • This is probably a rebuttal but it sounded 10x better on the album Carry On. I guess Pat is trying to re implement his roots into his current status. If it wasnt for Texas Music magazine, I would of never knew he remade the song.

  • I'm sorry, Pat Green used to be awesome, why in the hell would you remake Carry On? I can't listen to it the same anymore. Come down to my place? No, it's come down to Texas! Talk about forgetting your roots. It's bullshit...sell out...no doubt.

  • this rendition of carry on makes me sick....the arrangement is awful and takes away from one of the best songs he ever wrote....."come down to my place and drink with me awhile".....and he wonders why some texans have turned their backs to him......what ever happend to "i gave up on nashville a long time ago yeah but here i go".....sad sad times when a good song writer gets eaten up by nashville record execs.

  • "billboards and BS"...??..."come down to my place and drink with me awhile"...?? Makes me sad

  • Sounds like he's going to release it as a single, had to clean it up for that.

I miss Southbound 35, George's Bar and Songs about Texas...but hey...he moves on.

  • Very interesting to get the inside view! Can't WAIT to see you in June at Burlington Steamboat Days!!!
