  • You sure have a lot of challenges going on at the same time.

  • @ErichtheTormentor

    Look who's talking!

  • I'm wondering about your rules and early promoting, it's not mentioned, but I'm assuming you've banned it. Now, if you CAN... did somebody say 10/10/1 Summoner Ewan?

  • @ultimateluigi9878

Early promoting can be done; however, the characters count as being lv. 20+ after promotion, so after being promoted they're most likely benched for a while again, until the rest catches up in levels. So, if we have Summoner Ewan promoted at lv. 10 and Garcia at lv. 18 unpromoted, Ewan can't be deployed until Garcia is promoted too, and at a higher level.

  • @MoogleBoss I could see this as a kind of "Well, I've only got to get useless unit X to level 10 before I have to stop worrying about them! Bye, Ewan and Amelia!", though it'd backfire if you ever actually had to ever use them again. Also, I bet Duessel will never see the light of day, the poor guy is Lv. 10 promoted...

  • @ultimateluigi9878

Ewan and Amelia fully promoted wouldn't be a burden anymore, though. Even if Amelia gets RNG screwed on her twenty+ level-ups, she can still perform neat tasks as a Paladin.

  • Best Fire Emblem (has monsters).

  • will you be keeping colm at a low enough lvl for missions with chests? also trainees that get promoted can be just as good as other characters that are 3-5 levels higher of the same class.

  • @FFF813

Yeah, I'm trying not to give Vanessa/Tana/Colm too much experience so that I always have them handy for utility purposes. Perhaps keeping Franz at a low level is a good idea too, since he can travel far to save villages and take a hit or two if needed.

  • Maybe I simply got really, really good stat rolls for Ross, but after I promoted him to a Pirate, he became one of my most useful units. I can understand why you would want to avoid the other two trainees, though -- they're atrocious when you get them.

Also, I'm assuming this is no-death and you're recruiting everyone you can?

  • @Haromaro26

Yeah, not letting anyone die and recruiting everyone (should be pretty straightforward). Seems like the thing to do when playing Fire Emblem.

Ross ends up about as good as his dad (who can't be a Berserker) but needs a lot of babying to get there. Garcia has pretty respectable bases and a reliable CON stat right off the bat. I don't normally use either them, and just use Duessel and Gerik for axin', though.

  • How irnoic. I actually recently started playing this game for the first time not too long ago.

I'd definitely like to see the animations, but as people have already said, feel free to skip through the healer animations. I have troubles myself turning them off, even if I do just skip through them most of the time. Take whichever of the two routes is considered harder or, if not harder, then the one that has given you difficulties in the past.

  • I took the time to train up Ross, and now he's a beast on my team. I don't get why the trainees get all this hate....

  • @FinalDivineDragoon Because they start off poor, and in this challenge they're forced to be poor due to the low-level challenge like a majority of the units.

  • Also a little tip - try and use your healers every turn, even for 1-2 HP wounds, since their level will suffer in a LLG.

  • @Toothache42

I've noticed low-turn runs utilising that (especially with staves like Physic that give a lot of experience). I'm not sure if that would fall under the 'grinding' category (to which I've put arena and skirmishes), but it's something to consider because having to use 3 healers in the party at once limits what you can do (but probably not a whole lot more than having to use Amelia and Ewan).

  • There is a way to change the RNG state, by moving the cursor in a certain way. The path-finding algorithm can use up RNs, and this is the way that TASes manipulate the RNG. Check my FE6 videos to see what I mean, but if you're willing to experiment it can be done in real time, since as you've discovered the RNG state is fixed, and if you repeat the same actions in a chapter, the game will give you same RNG results every time.

  • @Toothache42

Oh hey, I've seen your videos before! I'm aware of the practice of burning RNs and how it changes pre-determined hits, crits and level-up gains, but I wouldn't know how the number of movements affects all of that exactly. I don't think I'd want to include this practice into the challenge (since I'm not aiming for lowest turns) and just leave those level-ups to luck like I always do.

Just wanted to have a good start with Eirika and that Vulnerary did the job.

  • FE8 is a joke in comparison to the other FE games difficulty wise, to be honest. But that's because of the vast amounts of experience available. Maybe I'm exagerating, but I cringe thinking how this will go without that. Gl and stuff.

1 - On, they are fast and pleasant to look at. Just turn off the healing and dancer animations.

2 - For the sake of pain, Ephraim's route. Dunno how you'll pull that considering almost every chapter there will be a new low levelled unit so it'll be exciting to see.

  • @HolyDragonLX

A lowest level run in FE6 HM would be a big pain in the arse, I imagine... You keep getting lv. 1 units like Wendy and Sophia, too, so that would put a lot of pressure on Roy to out-tank the bosses.

  • I think Ephraim and Eirika ar about the same difficulty. Both have some nasty missions.

But I orefer the Ephraim route - so take that. =o

Animations, nut sure. Whatever you want, I guess.

  • I don't mind animations, but if you keep them disable the ones for healers, they tend to be long and annoying... As for the route, pick the one is harder :D

  • I really like the animations in the FFGBA games, so turning on solo would be nice, just so we don't have to sit through healing animations

  • I honestly found Eirika's route to be way harder than Ephraim's, ever since I initially played this game...

Anyway, seems to be an interesting challenge (dude, why not finish some of your OLD ONES before starting on NEW ONES?)

As for battle animations, you can just choose 'solo' so that healers have 'off' and the others 'on'. I don't really mind either way.

As for supports, it'll probably save your ass plenty of times (especially some of them, e.g Natasha+Joshua gives 12% dodge at C).

  • 1)IMO I would say to select which battles are shown or not ( example not showing the healers animations since it still shows on map) but if the stage feels to long for your liking then I guess turn it off.

    2) hmm I would say to take Ephraim's route. Not exactly because it might be hard ( forgot about difficulty and such ... even though I remember having trouble on eirika's route but meh it's always RNG) but also the fact that Ephraim would be the lower leveled between the 2 of them I think.

  • @cybermega *continues* would increase the difficulty ( in which is what you're going for)

anyway this would mean that by end game ( IF you reach end game) Everyone would be EVENLY leveled? AND now that I think about it what about characters such as the one on ephriam's route? ( That has something stolen from her *tries to be vague cuz spoilerz*) are you going to use a glitch (notsureifpossibleanyway) in order to keep her par with the team or use her as a meat shield?

  • @cybermega

The lords will probably have a level lead since they're deployed always (unlike most everybody else), and they'll most likely be the ones to take on the bosses.

  • 2) Take the hard tour please.

    1) I don't want to see animations, because they're boring and we as viewers don't have a smart turbo button. but if they are helpful for you, have'em on.

  • Personally I think healing and dancing, etc. should be kept short, maybe Knoll, too, because his attacks take so long. But for the lords, knights, pegasi, especially myrmidons it's great to see the animations. Also, I fear for the Phantom Ship.......
