  • 5:07.. That taxi got away just in time..;)

  • Definatley not my "First Choice" Lol.

  • What's with the stupid comments? lol armchair aviation experts

  • Chuck Norris was on the runway and the plane nor the pilot wanted any trouble...

  • Wow, British people sure are annoying.

  • ooooops wrong airport

  • I don't know why people think this was caused by too long of a flair. Seems normal to me. I think they went missed due to a change in wind direction, which caused them to loose their stabilized approach parameters. This is supported by the switch of landing runways.

  • @LegendxHD Good spot

  • 5:15 you missed the takeoff for the fat bottomed ladies?OMG!

  • Oh No!! missed the d.....d hook again!!

  • 4 fat idiots @ 5:18

  • Haha just look at the asphalt they sure have burned some rubber the last few meters over the years :p

  • So it can landing a B752 there, how about a 767 300 then?

  • CAPTAIN: Shit, Wrong Damn Airport. 1ST OFFICER: You Sure? CAPTAIN: Yea, we're supposed to be in LA... 1ST. OFFICER: Nah That's Tomorrow... CAPT: Alright, Let's Turn Around And Go On In... But Let's Have Fun With Those Spectators... Let's Go Right For Them...

  • That'd be my second choice..

  • I'm going there in a week..O_O

  • HOLY SHIT.

  • "its gone back up again ".....no shit sherlock lol

  • Why the hell would you travel to Greece and then spend your vacation hanging around the airport. You can do that from where you came from.

  • @CannedHam6 How do you know? He might live there.

  • im led to believe mick smith was on this flight

  • I will be landing there tomorow. just love greece. The food....mmmm!

  • 5:15 look at those bingo wings flapping

  • so that ass pilot misunderstood the right landing runway / direction.. what is the airline so that I don't fly with it?

  • Damn Greece! They could extend this runway out to the sea like so many other airports, but nooooo! Too much work for our lazy race!

  • the European St Maarten ;)

  • GO AROUND - no mistakes for any errors on a 5500 ft runway lol

  • A mini St. Maarten!

  • The aircraft must land into wind direction.

  • TOGA!!!

  • what was that?

  • A "go around" wouldnt be my first choice :D

  • you scared them !!!!!!!

  • Sometime, wind can change direction very fast. When planes are approaching, if it changes, they're oblige to go around and land the other side of the runway

  • muito bom,

Watch video: takeoff of victory: Gol - Boeing 737-700 PT-GON. Video ney8666, leave comments

  • am shacking pathetic muchley

  • The new st.maarten.

  • @DJUygur100 Europe's St Maarten! ;)

  • @DJUygur100 No kidding dude!!

  • Nice video.....but I think Princess Juliana is a little more thrilling.

  • my birthday!

  • the first landing it was in wrong way wind.

  • could always forget having to fly and sit at the end of runway 2 at heathrow for a week in the summer?

  • First choice would never be my choice, talk about sardindes in a tin!!

  • He must have had a tailwind which would explain the go-around... and of course why he ended up landing in the opposite direction. This is a neat locale for planespotting too - thanks for the video and will have to watch more of them...

  • the pilot was a woman, hahahaha =)

  • @bwmrj So? Women pilots have to prove their worth 200% more than any man because this is "a man's world." ;-)

  • Mick Smith goes here every year

  • all airports in greek islands are very small for these planes. wherever you go ypou find oiut..

  • Byłam na wyspie Skiathos ale z braku czasu nie widziałam lotniska

    dzięki

    pozdrawiam

  • First choice.

  • "if he doesn't stop we're history" ... so move out of the way then??

  • This also happened to us when we visited Skiathos in 2001 - the takeoff is just as scary with max power and very steep angle of climb!

  • Did you congratulate the pilot? He could for sure see you .. :-)

  • which country is this airport located in ?

  • @ASENEBS281294 Skiathos Island National Airport (IATA: JSI, ICAO: LGSK) Greece

  • Skiathos runway length - 5200 ft - 1570m. Pilots have to hit the threshold and apply brakes immediately.

  • TOGA due to the crosswind.

  • With all the respect people there is nothing scary in this, especially to the pilots that they do that everyday...We live in Skiathos and this happening in 1/5 flights...if the wind changes, they have to aboard landing....However good vid....

PS we live just on the hill and see the landings all the time....you are all welcome for a free cold beer.....

  • windshear might be the cause of aborted landing..that's why the airbus landed on the opposite side of the runway

  • blimey if the wind changed on finals to a downwind that aircraft must of increased in speed dramtically, hence the abort i suppose otherwise it wouldnt of stopped in time. Makes you think how quickly those pilots have to react, literally split seconds from maybe encounteringa crash.

I heard they have to do thorough routine checks before they take off and land here, like Corfu, because its deemed a potentially dangerous airport. No room for error.

    cool vid mate

  • There is a ferry in Skiathos that can take you to a very beautiful city called Volos. Its about 2 yours trip.

    watch?v=_ocT4sRVPnM

  • love the mna talking on the vid... comicle>>> if he doesnt stop where history lol

  • he prob saw u and decided nope screw that im going around again dont like the look of those ppl LOL

  • Hi - can you tell me exactly where you were to get this footage please - and how to get there is poss - Thank you

  • Google Earth 39.175413,23.50557

  • @GooberMc1 airstrip starts just outside skiathos town, 5 min walk from bus stop number 1, v easy to find, think its wed and fri for heavier traffic so just follow the flight path from town when you see one squaring up on approach.

gotta say, its a complete buzzz to spend an hour there but please take care.

    regards

    g.

  • @b2gcj i was there in 2003 the landing and takoff is very hard and violent , the brakeing when u land is likehold on to your hat.

  • WOOO. sounds like a few manchester accents there????

  • Wow the power of them Rolls Royce RB211 engines on the ThomasCook 757 is amazing, love the First Choice A320 to :P Great video m8.

  • you see that fat kid @ 3:28 :DDD

  • "this is a bit scary. cos if he doesnt stop were history " lol :) i no i shouldnt laugh cos that could happen but lol :)

  • LOL - the wind turned and they decided to land from the other direction.

  • A320 First Choice

    B757 Thomas Cook

  • this was freaking rubbish

  • why

  • Just remember: When landing at Skiathos there is absolutely NO time for mistakes or corrections. There has to be a minimal amount of inaccuracy as possible otherwise they may crash due to the runway length. What you see here is a fine example of a too long flare. If he didn't go around he would have had to brake harder & maybe even crash at the end of the runway. There is a beach at the end of the runway so it wouldn't be nice to watch.

  • @iceflyevents its pretty windy looking so that didnt help

  • @iceflyevents

    Yes.. that is perfectally correct.

my self personally, i have been there around 8-9 times, and i do remember they told us that if the plane crosses the two big rectangular lines (which you can clearly see it has at 0:41), it has to abort.

  • nice vid ^^ 5*

  • a320.

  • I agry that the this is a visual approach but when an aircraft is clear for landing it can only land on the runway it was cleared to land by the tower. What hapend here was a look of the pilot at the runway conditions and when everything seemed normal he turned around and land. (If you notise also by the sea ther it isn't a windy day. The pilot did that becouse skiathos is a small iland and the airports are'nt in the perfect condition. Oh, and I'm from Greece and I've been to Skiathos!

  • it was because they have to land exactly to "piano strings" and he flared the plane too long.

  • cool vid

    thomson a320

    thomas cook 757

  • i think its 757

  • a320

  • Remember at Skiathos there is no ILS so EVERYTHING is manual. What happened there was a result of a wind change or a sudden gust of wind when the pilots were flaring. The wind change theroy is backed up by the aircraft returning for another landing in the complete opposite direction.

  • They have VOR aswell though...

  • they changed the runway!?!?!?

  • yep...been there done that...

  • omg:D

  • wow... a A330 at that place? shit!

  • Its an airbus A320 douche bag!!

  • I got back from Skiathos 3 days ago, was MIN'ED! Very HOT. Cool vid, i did that too =)

  • Shheeiiit!!!! I'm going to be landing there next Friday! Am a bit worried now....!

  • dont worry pal!!! u will enjoy it!!!!

  • That wall you lot sat on wasnt there in 2006!!....me and the missus found the 'airport runway jet blast excursion' bloody fantastic!....everyday too..before going to the beach.

  • Way too fast, and also too thin. His glide-slope indicator must've been screaming its bloody head off.

  • It's not possible to tell if he was too fast and there is no ILS at skiathos so he/she wouldn't have had the glideslope displayed

  • There is no ILS at Skiathos (LGSK) airport.

  • if you didn't put that title slide in between the two clips, it would have been very confusing!

  • But it's not oatmeal!

  • yea that was stupid for you to put more than one thing in a video because you hsould have at least made the go around the first part, taht's not how you get good ratings not sticking stuff later in teh video...

  • it seems he was approaching downwind and aborted due to excess of speed, you can see he finally landed from the other way, strangely the next plane is taking the same direction as the original plane that aborted landing or could this be not related to wind direction but other factors

  • An were going there for our 2009 hols.....Eek....Ha Ha

  • It's great, i have been there!

  • I worked in Skiathos in summer 2008. I recall a lady who was badly injured and hospitalised for standing in the exact spot where this footage was taken as an aircrafts jet blast caused her to be thrown into the unsuspecting sea behind. These planes are over 100 tonne at takeoff and therfore to stand in the direct path of them either taking off or landing is PLANE STUPID!!!!

  • can just sign your statement never be too close behind a landing airplane those jet blast arent that harmless!

  • A320 Max take Off weight is approximately 78 tonnes

  • Yes the boy said it he was coming in to fast, i was there in 2003 great palce. love to go back.

  • "plane" stupid.. nice one pmsl

  • ..You mean if the plane won't stop? Ofcourse! But there would still be a chance I'll be history too.XD LOL

  • His 'first choice' was to go-around.LOLOL

Awesome footage! I didn't know Skiathos had such a cool planeview. I went to Samos last June, hotel next to the airport. The planes went overhead while tanning on the beach..awesome too!

I love your comment: if this plane doesn't stop we're history.XD

  • You would move out the way maybe?

  • Really? I was in the same hotel!! :P Hotel Vito Bay or something like that was it's name, nice!

  • YES!! I was in there as well!:D How awesome.lol

  • Tailwind on the first attempt to land!

  • What a stupid place to stand on takeoff, one day a stone will fly up and end up in someones face!

  • It's worth the risk if you like spotting planes that way.:P

  • Dont be so stupid, have you ever been blasted by jet wash? Typical slags in pink

  • aaaaww man, that was a total joke.O: But viewing them nearby is a cool thing though.

  • @Sterlingjob Comparing the risk of getting a stone to the face vs the amount of fun and thrill, I would definitely choose to stand there.

  • @MuchosDk its not stones you have to worry about, but the extremly poiseness gases that are coming from the engine at extreme tempratures, breatheing that in may damadge your lungs very badly

  • i have been to skiathos twice and the jet blst those aircraft give off really is powerfull, blew two people off a wall when i last went lol!

  • Is the second one still Thomas Cook? And also, what the heck was that guy doing infront of the wall?

  • Landing at skiathos has to be exact as the runway is so short

  • wahey! love these skiathos plane videos :)

  • Great Video- best yet (Which Camera did you use for the vid?)

  • Hi, thanks for the comments, i used a fuji s9500 digital still camera that has a "zoomable" avi video function.

  • me too i have the jet blast of the plane on my videos but in france ( la rochelle )

  • wow too beatiful
