SO cool to listen to one of my favorite bands play at a local place (well local to me anyways) Maine is a beautiful place and I hear they sounded a little more country/folkish whenever they played among the Pines
The video was FOB right using a Panasonic 3230 C-mount tube camera w/a Tokina 100-300mm lense into a JVC S20U portable HIfi stereo VCR. The audio is from Sennheiser 441s into the portable. This is not a soundboard..
That is the master recording. I hope that this information helps.
Best wishes to all from Less Than Face Productions.
Fantastic... I was there with a guy called Eric (?) from Camp Casco in a borrowed station wagon. Never made it inside, too busy having fun in the lot. Good times.
This was my first Grateful Dead show. I was as close to the stage as you could get. I remember that it was so hot and humid, some guy in the stage crew was showering us with a garden hose! Does anyone else remember that?
I was there. I'm laughing and crying at the same time just thinking about it. Large group of friends and family camping out for two days. Awesome time. Great work on this video. Thanks.
Yes, I too was there with my brother and some friends. It was a time I never will forget. Of course it is a bit hazy in spots ;-)
I was 16 and this was my first concert and Dead show. The parking lot scene, the camping. Awesome! I forgot to bring a sleeping bag and it was SO cold that weekend. July in Maine is normally warm but not this 4th of July weekend. I ended up sleeping in the car just to warm up.
Now 20 years later I live close to the speedway and drive by my camping spot everyday
both shows were great - 88 was actually a good year - I saw 14 shows that year and these were two of the best. Little Feat opened and they were awesome.
My first show too . Paraglider buzzed the crowd during the " Birdsong " . Have the bootleg cassettes and you can hear the crowd erupt when that happened . Best weekend of my life next to my wedding . Jerry and Brent RIP . Thanks for everything .
oh no, that aint no video camera aud. However I'm always impressed at the recordings made by video camera mics. Often better than many sources from the pit or upfront...
Mt first show! I had no idea what was going on, but I knew that I liked it....went on to see them another 25 times over the next few years. Never a bad moment.
Thanks. Guess who was there. :)

the sound quality on this is amazing, full and rich, was it really from a video camera in 1988, or is it from a seperate recording?
