The overlapping road wheels were a good idea, in so far as they helped defend against shaped-charge weapons, but in mud, at night, in cold weather, it presented problems. i do not know how german soldiers were treated in the USA, but i do know how the were treated in the us camps, in the famous "Rheinwiesenlager". I often spoke to survivers and read a lot (i mean the standard german books, which are filled with "self hate" and "glory, glory USA" stuff). Its sure that 10.000 thousandS of people died in this camps. its also sure that the british made it better.

@ivymercer i heard from this famous pow camp and just read the wiki article. its a good question, when the first time soldiers captured soldiers were hold for a long period in a camp. american civil war (in the 60is of course) might be the first time, when this were made in an (more or less) organized way.
but i meant the name concentration camp and the concept to imprison a population, which is declared to an enemy. first time were british in boer war.
Andersonville was a POW camp run by the Confederates(rebels) not a concentration camp. Although conditions there were appalling, this was not on purpose. The rebellious south simply had very little food and resources to care for Union POW's. Also, the US civil war was in the early 1860's not the 1850's.
of course there were always places were captured soldiers were held back. to kill them later, or sell them as slaves or for getting ransom...but these were not POW camps...
the british army based on a bomb war against enemy cities. they started to build the correct airplanes for this kind of war since the 20 is, the germans did not!

Doesn't matter who invented it -you have got to have big bangin brass ones to lie in wait for a 10 ton tank supported by infantry behind it, to get within 40 -30 meters to guarantee a hit with panserfaust. If you screw up and miss everybody knows where you are, if you hit it you now have a burning exploding tank on top of you!
The Panzerfaust, from what I've read in military books, was able to knock out any Allied tank and was a highly effective weapon that could be used with minimal training. Basically the warhead hits the tank's steel and a smaller charge inside the main warhead ignites to a very high termperature, burns itself through the tank's steel into the interior of the tank, super heats the inside of tank, killing the crew or ingiting the tank's ammo or fuel, and thereby blowing up the tank.
Panzerschreck and Pueppchen fired the same round. The Panzerschreck is identified here by it's alternative name , "Ofenrohr," or 'stovepipe." I am sure that the leadership of the Wehrmacht would have preferred the more intimidating name for psycholigcal reasons.

the panzerschreck was a rocket firing weapon copied from the bazooka.....but bigger caliber 88mm as opposed to 3.2 inch or about 75mm for the bazooka. they were both re-loadable.

The T-34 was why they invented the Panzerfaust (Gross.) The Klein didn't seem to make that great an impression.
Take a look sometime at the lines of the pzkw V and compare it to the T-34.
The Germans were not as original as they would have us believe.

Naja, aber das ist fakt, das stand in einem Protokoll. Diese Akten wurden vor ein paar jahren offen gelegt. Fakt ist auch das die Allies keines weg besser waren in Sachen Kriegsverbrechen, abgesehen vom Holocaust. many of the so called "slave workers" still write letters to german farmers and their ancesters because they become such great friends....reality is very complicated.
i do not know how many germans died in american POW camps but its a fact that the american camps were famous for their high mortality rate. the british were not, so you could make it better. the question is, did the usa just dont care about the germans soldiers, or was it mistakes?

Very few Germans died in American camps. They were treated very well, had plenty to eat, and even had time off on weekends and holidays.
It is plain you have zero historical background, or evidence.
Actually the American camps had a very low mortality rate, as they got rations to eat and good medical care.
They were kept near here in Kentucky and worked on the farm with my father.
The German Government was mass murders and thugs, not the good guys at all.

i do not know how german soldiers were treated in the USA, but i do know how the were treated in the us camps, in the famous "Rheinwiesenlager". I often spoke to survivers and read a lot (i mean the standard german books, which are filled with "self hate" and "glory, glory USA" stuff). Its sure that 10.000 thousandS of people died in this camps. its also sure that the british made it better.
it would be interesting to know if the americans would like to kill the germans, or they did not care.

you should know that the US command was very pissed, because they were sure the germans would give up 1944 and then there were the Ardennes....maybe they seeked for revenge?

The German prisoners in America were treated well.
As for the US Air Force, it was total war, Germany was bombing cities and civilians first, go look up the bombing of warsaw, London Blitz, ect ect...
Look up the fact Germany was using rockets to bomb London and every port on europe they could reach.
Americans didn't want to kill every German, just the Nazis.

@ivymercer i heard from this famous pow camp and just read the wiki article. its a good question, when the first time soldiers captured soldiers were hold for a long period in a camp. american civil war (in the 60is of course) might be the first time, when this were made in an (more or less) organized way.
but i meant the name concentration camp and the concept to imprison a population, which is declared to an enemy. first time were british in boer war.

Andersonville was a POW camp run by the Confederates(rebels) not a concentration camp. Although conditions there were appalling, this was not on purpose. The rebellious south simply had very little food and resources to care for Union POW's. Also, the US civil war was in the early 1860's not the 1850's.

the british army based on a bomb war against enemy cities. they started to build the correct airplanes for this kind of war since the 20 is, the germans did not!
the british invented with the "firestorm tactic" a "weopon of mass destruction" which was not far away of a nuclear bomb. the germans did not invented such a thing.
the americans massacred a lot of german cities in the last war months without any sense. if you believe there are good guys on one side and bad on the other...

Doesn't matter who invented it -you have got to have big bangin brass ones to lie in wait for a 10 ton tank supported by infantry behind it, to get within 40 -30 meters to guarantee a hit with panserfaust. If you screw up and miss everybody knows where you are, if you hit it you now have a burning exploding tank on top of you!

The Panzerfaust, from what I've read in military books, was able to knock out any Allied tank and was a highly effective weapon that could be used with minimal training. Basically the warhead hits the tank's steel and a smaller charge inside the main warhead ignites to a very high termperature, burns itself through the tank's steel into the interior of the tank, super heats the inside of tank, killing the crew or ingiting the tank's ammo or fuel, and thereby blowing up the tank.

Panzerschreck and Pueppchen fired the same round. The Panzerschreck is identified here by it's alternative name , "Ofenrohr," or 'stovepipe." I am sure that the leadership of the Wehrmacht would have preferred the more intimidating name for psycholigcal reasons.

a mere question of numbers. the extension weather and large population of russia defeated the wermacht. as for the americans, they entered the war in 41, first battle with the germans was olny in 43. by then germany was nearly exausted due to the war efort. they had little human and material resources.

no army of napoleons age could conquer russia. olny a motorised army can do it. the germans came close but started their "barbarossa" campain to late, almost in the summer. also they lacked the manpower. as for israel, politics apart, any people that can turn a peace of worthless desert into an oasis of a country has my vote.

true, relentless discipline and organization made the german army fearsome. they were really outclassed in many aspects as equipment and weappons are concerned. russian tanks were far better, but lacked radio (except command tank)e knew little of armored tactics. organization, discipline and tactics are the makings of any army.

the panzerschreck was a rocket firing weapon copied from the bazooka.....but bigger caliber 88mm as opposed to 3.2 inch or about 75mm for the bazooka. they were both re-loadable.
the first weapon was the Panzerbusche 41, same caliber as the panzerschreck. Some were mounted on half tracks etc.
the panzerfaust was a shaped charge warhead (88mm)fit to a hollow tube and was not re-loadable.

merasanam- V-1 is not a rocket- the "buzz bomb " uses a kerosene based fuel, simple pulse jet engine for thrust. It was however, the first successful operational guided ( internal gyro ) "cruise missile" The U.S. actually had a gyro controlled, track launched, aerial torpedo -The Kettering Bug in 1918!!! Nothing new under the Sun.

Agreed. I was still a device that could produce a lot of damage. Also the Brits were terrified of the V rockets, so terrified that they preferred sending agents to sabotage the V1 (V2) production. On the other hand Germany didn't have too much of them because V rockets were very expensive.
Yes, V1 was not a rocket , but rather a simple jet engine with a bomb. They lacked precision, as they only way of controlling the rocket was by the amount of fuel they loaded.
