Holy Cow, you buff a lot with that R41! I have a medium to coarse middle eastern beard and 2 solid passes and a but of buffing around the chin and it's a BBS shave. If I buffed like you, it would be a bloodbath in the bathroom.!
OK so shave #1 with the R41. Whacked in a Gillette Platinum silver and let loose. What a lovely razor. Ok you can feel the blade but I was expecting a torrent of screaming wheel spinning Mustang-nesque. Not a bit of it. Proper M5 control. Lovely close shave. Futur tomorrow. Did 4 gentle passes- minimal pressure. Skin bit red (glowing?) but not irritation at all. This is a top razor. Love the way the "rake" comb clears the lather out the road.
@StraightShavingCat You sure will, don't let people get you down. Some folks are too wound up conducting experiments in a vacuum or on paper to consider the real, practical application. YMMV is the mantra for a reason.
Tim..do you find that blades dull faster in the R41? I can usually get 7 out of most razors but only 4 out of the R41 before I feel the need to change blades
Hey Tim! I like the R41 but don't love it. IMO, its Great if you have some growth but its no "everyday" razor for me. I used 5-6 x's straight when I first got it...some serious razor burn was the result. Favorite cologne? Good question...mine-Tom Ford Amber Absolute...LOVE T.F. DO NOT tell me its Grey Flannel! lol
