Reminds me of the fifties and sixties and before Nam and learning about mortality and when two dollors would fill the tank of a 55 ford customline. You did not have mandatory car insurance, plates were $3.00 a year in Louisiana and a quart of beer was 25 cents and life was easy even for a poor kid. No such thing as FM stereo. Sure miss it.
I've listened to both and like them both. The re-record is less compressed and the background singers are suppressed a little more. I like the resulting openness. The mixing is also more modern. I don't think her voice is quite as strong on this one and there isn't as much orchestration. A good effort but it does beg the question, why?
Does anyone lnow who the back up singers are? they are awesome! Skeeter is awesome . rest in peace my dear!

This song hits like a ton of bricks...especially in stereo. No wonder--it was produced by CHET ATKINS!!

Sometimes in the 80's Skeeter released a collection-album with this song, and yes this was re-record.

It's Skeeter. It's a recut, with 100% new music bed and background singers.

This does not sound like the original. I have that on a 45.
She's got a great unique voice on her original recordings. I play this record often.

This version does not seem to have the 'over-dubbing' of the original 45.

It's not the original. The original is up here on Youtube on several other channels.
btw, I have never heard a rerecording by an artist that was as good as the original. Never.

Yes, it's Skeeter in her latter years; I can testify to that.
