Aidan, jokes aside. I love the work you do and the way you make things easy for beginners to get into SU.
I would love it if you could clarify why you use groups (and the Outliner) to hide / unhide sometimes and other times you use layers to do so. Are there better times to use each?
I have a lot of respect for your ability to keep your house model simple. I often find it hard not to end up double facing. Great job.
I have a few questions about how to put that furniture together. As far as those rounded edges go, did you just cut an arc and use the follow me tool? Also, were you able build your furniture in scale or did you blow it up or down after it was completed?
I use Google sketch to make models for Crysis, the game. G. S. is very flexible and stable.More that 3D Max.(When it comes to model importing etc.)No more orange spheres. All the old school, game makers, think we Cryengine users have it easy. That is a pant load.I have put more hours is Google sketch that breathing. Great software and fun !
Hi, im having problems to get the funitures on the place i want them to stand, suddenly they are under the house and out side the house, can you please tell me how to get them in the easy way?
You can basically keep zooming in or use the hand tool to drag "through" the wall. It'll seem that the view isn't moving, because when you go through a different medium (like the wall), google sketchup slows you down. So just keep moving until u enter the house.
hey i got a question. After the model is all complete, is it possible to view it in orbit with out the sketch up programs . like if i wanna do a presentation but the computer dosnt have sketch up, how can i show them the model???
I have gone through all your videos, they are absolutely the most helpful, easy to follow video tutorials. Many thanks for your efforts & hope you are planning to post videos of the other chapters. Thanks again.
Do you have a video for making this house? this is just a suggestion, but it would be great if you could build a house from scratch including interior and components. Obviously dividing it into multiple videos like your doing now, but if you could build a house with good demensions to show me and other people how to do it, that would be very cool, and soo helpful, because I've been watching your videos and they are great. I think that that would make your videos even better. thanks!!!
wtf is this program for ? its not for drafting atl east i dont think so im using revit right now i just wanna know what this is for or if its just for fun
Hey, ive been watching your videos lately and they are great!!!!!!! i have one question how do u get 2 levels with stairs..? do u have a video for stairs and more than on level? please get back to me thanks!!!!!
when i hide w/ outliner, the components in the group are ghosted, but not hidden, and one of the components in the group doesn't even ghost. i'm working on a 5 storey hotel and it's making it hard to isolate each floor.
Hi! Does anybody know if there's a way of inserting the doors directly into a solid wall without having to previously make a hole? (somehow like in ADT or Revit), thanks a lot if anybody knows!
How do you suggest creating the floor plan for the second floor in a model? In your book you only demonstrate creating the first floor. I'm not sure whether to draw it in place, or to draw it elsewhere and move it in, etc.
If in-place, I'm not sure how to draw in top/parallel view and have my floor plan's edges be at the right height (rather than at 0')...
I'm bothered by grouping ceilings with the floor above. I know in the book you say not to use layers for floors, but here's my problem:
If I assign the ceilings of floor 1 to group "floor 2" as you suggest, it separates the ceiling geometry from the wall geometry. Then I can no longer move my floor 1 walls without creating a gap between the wall and its ceiling. Layers don't have this problem.
Separately, how do you suggest creating the floor plan for the second floor in a model? In your book you only demonstrate creating the first floor. I'm not sure whether to draw it in place, or to draw it elsewhere and move it in, etc.
If in-place, I'm not sure how to draw in top/parallel view and have my floor plan's edges be at the right height (rather than at 0')...
Only one word : wonderfull. I discover this program a few weeks ago and these videos make me easy to draw some buildings, even if I am french talking. Thanks Aidan for you great help.
