If there is a roman numeral stamp on your lighter then it is a replica, original 1936 zippos will only have the patent, zippo logo and the bradford stamp with made in usa. No letters or roman numerals will be on original 1936 models. Still worth keeping but not an old lighter as you thought.
My grandpa collected zippos and he gave me a cool shotgun zippo that is cool but is a pain to light. you have to crack the barrel and push in the flint and then close it and it has a trigger. he also gave me a real army one from the 60s
