★☆¸.✫*¨*♦.¸¸.✶ Thank you for all of your wonderful comments.
★☆¸.✫*¨*♦.¸¸.✶ Dad is 84 now and is still setting up his displays at various shows for book signings. He's such a trooper and some great person always helps him set up all the heavy stuff. The kindness of strangers exists; thank you...
I met your dad yesterday at a gun show in des moines, he was a really nice guy and was very fun to talk to. And since I was a student he gave me a discount on the book!
There is now a fan club site on Facebook - can't post the link here though.
If you can't find it on Facebook, just send me a message and I'll e-mail you the link.
Hope you like it; there are full color pictures, old newspaper articles back from when he first returned from Africa, and you are welcome to post comments, book reviews, discussion threads, pictures, etc.
I just met your Dad today in Cedar Rapids, IA. and bought his book, he has alot of good storys to tell!!! Can't wait to read the book tho... I went to a gun show looking for ammo and instead bought a book!!! LOL good luck Jerry, It was nice to meet you!!! Roy 6/6/2009

London claims to have 1st WILD pic of the Okapi, yet dad took the Okapi's pic 33 yrs ago-see vid
9/11/08 'British team capture first pictures of Africa's unicorn' see excerpt-full story go to link noted:
'LONDON(AFP)-The okapi, an African animal so elusive that it was once believed to be a mythical unicorn, has been photographed in the wild for the first time, the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) said Thurs'
***Not only did they NOT take the 1st ever photo, but they took it with a 'Camera Trap'.
My father took 3 pictures of the OKAPI (1 is shown here & also on pg 171 of dad's book) when he was on his motorcycle adventure across Africa!
It was likely an oversight & they did not search the internet for current photos prior to publishing this claim, but dad has now sold 5000 copies; its a published fact.
* I e-mailed Londons Zoological Society (ZSL) regarding the oversight & will post their response here & on TheHeartOfAfrica website
Full article on Yahoo News: YouTube wouldn't let me post the link (so search for Yahoo News Okapi first photo) or go to the ZSL site: w's then zsl, org
Please don't let them take this honor from my dad.
Fantastic tribute. Cant wait to have a look at his site,Sounds like a very inspirational man. Im about to undertake my first big motorcycle trip this summer,My grandfather rode bike up untill sadly he passed away at 76.
Just wish the old fella was still around i dont think it would have taken much to talk him into joining me.
It's little gems like this that make youtube a great place to visit once in a while.
