Hello love the video !!!! I got one of these synths yesterday , just wondering how to make the filter self oscillate, what patch have you used here.Thanks.
@AnalogAudio1 you buy any sized midi keyboard you like. you can get them for like 50euros up to 1000 euros, depending on the size you want. So no, i disagree, i rather have the choice of keyboard rather than each synth having its own(possibly sucky) keyboard.
@scaltek sauf que le MS20 a "que" 2 VCO, et celui-ci a 3. Et bien sure. le MS20 coutera au moin 1500 euro, mais le kraftzwerg que 580(selon leur website)
I would really appreciate, if you also gave us a musical demo of one of your current productions. Just the soloed Kraftzwerg track, as you actually record it for your songs would be nice.
why? I like dynamic range! I guess I didn't bother compressing this recording as it was just a little bit of fun. Actually though I could do with a little portable limiter for when I play live - can you recommend one?
I highly suggest checking out FMR's Really Nice Leveling Amp. It's great for compression and limiting applications, and has some really nice color. It's stereo too, which for the price is insane!
i like dynamic too, but please save my ears and your hardware. of course the fmr series is very good, but cheap guitar comp are good enough to catch peaks.
In the 15 years I've been programming synths I've never used a limiter and I certainly wouldn't want to use a cheap guitar comp to squash my peaks. If I'm working on a song I will 'ride the faders' to iron out any excessive peaks. As I said before, this recording was pretty much my first explorations after taking the synth out of the box. I didn't think it was that important to worry about dynamics too much. It certainly doesn't clip anywhere in the recording. What part is hurting your ears?
actually pretty snappy. MFB make a lot of drum machines so I guess they know how to make fast envelopes.
The LFO's are pretty fast (not as fast as my super psycho LFO) but they have a great range and apparently you can feed in CV to widen that range - not sure how???
i am new in this of modular and cv... ive been during the last month or so with my kraftzwerg trying to do some percussions (as idioteque by radiohead or something alike).. i just cant do it with the mfb by itself... it is possible to do it just with the mfb? or i need more modules? a sequencer? or something... it seems as if you have nice control over cv
Hi. Yes you could use a CV sequencer or even a computer based sequencer. My suggestion would be to experiment with the Kraftzwerk and then sample any percussion sounds you like and play them back using Midi.
You could do it with just the Kraftzwerk but you'd need to have a good CV sequencer to modulate different settings to vary the sound between hits.
Persevere! The Kraftzwerk is capable of some really wild sounds and is very good at percussive hits.
mmm ok... that was the answer i was looking for... the thing is i wanted to do some percussions using the lfos to create a rythm and use self oscilation to do a kick drum sound and the noise to do a snare sound... but is just impossible to do rymthmic patterns just with the lfos, right? i am going to use logic to do some sequencing... i could do each part of the drum kit in diferent tracks and then asign a patch to each track and then record the whole thing... that could be interesting...
my doubt was if just using the lfos on this magic box you could do nice rythms (i was searching for something radiohead-like... or like in the eraser or some john frusciante stuff...) that kind of percussions blow my head off... and i wondered if it was possible to do them without a sequencer, just with selfoscilation and lfo (at least with the kraftzwerg, i suppose that with bigger-totally-modular systems everything is possible)... thanks for answering!
lol sounds like the moomins cool

This synths seems really cool! Whats the minus about it? if there is any? it seems good as a beginners modular synth ;)

Do you use 1/4" or 1/8" for patch cords?

can you use a guitar instead of keyboards with the mfb kraftzwerg?

Wonderful, but why does it not have a built in keyboard? This would be great, it would look like a musical instrument.
For me, a built in keyboard is very important, especially for live use. It would be a little package, all in one.
If it had a small keyboard (3 octaves would be ok) I would buy it!

Can you insert external audio? I'd assume you can but I'm not finding much specific info on this machine.

Nice sounds from it - the filter sounds pretty good. What is the oscillator quality like - particularly the triangle wave?

you really need a limiter!

there's nothing wrong with your vid.
a limiter in this situation would just be immoral...
when recording a song seriously, I would use a limiter as well, but for these kind of vids, let the synth roar!
btw: I don't hear any uneasy peaks or anything like that, so don't know what Xenonroom uses to listen to audio, but...
