I sang this song with my Momma and Daddy. My brothers sang it as well, once I was grown I sang it to my kids. My Mom loved Vern Gosdin. I lost my Mom in Jan of 2009. I hear it now, and close my eyes and I can still hear her singing it with me. I love you Momma. This will always remind me of you and Daddy and the boys.
This song brings out so many emotions. It reminds me so much of my Dad that I lost last year (he loved Vern). It reminds me where I came from (a farm in KY aka the "country"). It reminds me that Jesus is with me every day no matter what I face. It keeps me humble and reminds me of the power of prayer. I hope when I get to heaven, I can sing this to the top of my lungs with Dad and Vern. Until then and as the song says " Dear Lord look down on me"...

Vern Gosdin was a musical genius...he was called "The Voice"...when you hear him sing this---and everything he ever recorded---you can understand why! Thanks for sharing this wonderfully informative tribute to this man...

Years ago I flew home into the Nashville airport. A co-worker and I were walking down the airport behind Vern. Jim tapped him on his shoulder and said “don’t I know you”? I’m “Jim W”. Vern said “I’m Vern Gosdin”. Jim said “Can’t say that I know you, what do you do”? Vern said “I sing a little bit”. Jim said “Good for you – good luck to you”. Vern said “thanks”. Vern Gosdin didn’t put on any airs. I gained a ton of respect for Vern Gosdin that day.
Thank you Dear Jesus, for holding my hand and making stronger so that I do not seek revenge would only put me in prison for the murderers of my brother who still walk the streets just as if they haven't done anything. It has been five years since I last saw him. He was buried on my daughter's second birthday and whether it was an accident or not, they have yet to offer an apology.
I pray each night that I have the willpower to be the better person if and when I ever see them again.

Truly one of Alabama's good ole boys. Years ago he and his brother performed together. Alone, Vern rose to the top. Always loved hearing his songs. He reminds me of my favorite singer, Don Williams. They both have wonderful voices.

I've loved this song all of my life and I cried the first time I heard it sung here by Vern. Vern touched so many people he was probably unaware of. I'm a old country boy from Indiana and have loved his music and his gentle nature for years. Vern was the best. I am so sad. I keep going over and over playing his songs. My deepest sympathy to his family.
I got to meet him too. Backstage at The Opry. He said to me, "You wanna cup of coffee Son?" I said to him, Yessir! It was then I realized I was talking to Vern ! Wow! And what a nice man he was. My prayers are with his family. Thanks Vern!

I got connections to Albert E. Brumley thru my aunt and uncle in Southern MO.
They all knew each other.
Albert is perhaps the greatest Southern Gospel writer of all time.

"Jesus, Hold My Hand was written in 1933, before Vern was born. But, I've never heard it better than Vern does it!

Oh my goodness what memories this song brings. Sitting in a small Church as a child singing hymns. I hadnt heard this song since then. Thank you for posting.

Truly one of Alabama's good ole boys. Years ago he and his brother performed together. Alone, Vern rose to the top. Always loved hearing his songs. He reminds me of my favorite singer, Don Williams. They both have wonderful voices.

This wonderful old gospel song is done so perfectly by Vern. What a Who's Who of musicians he has gotten together here. Fantastic. I've loved this song all of my life and I cried the first time I heard it sung here by Vern. The words to this song are so meaningful and Vern's explaining how he made all of his choices of musicians to help him out is so poignant. Even tho it makes me cry to hear it I do get a warm and happy feeling listening to Vern's terrific voice.Thank you for posting.--Paula

Vern touched so many people he was probably unaware of. I'm a old country boy from Indiana and have loved his music and his gentle nature for years. Vern was the best. I am so sad. I keep going over and over playing his songs. My deepest sympathy to his family.

I got to meet him too. Backstage at The Opry. He said to me, "You wanna cup of coffee Son?" I said to him, Yessir! It was then I realized I was talking to Vern ! Wow! And what a nice man he was. My prayers are with his family. Thanks Vern!
