@mikesthalberg - He flips because he makes contact with his right-rear tyre and the front left of the driver who he passed. Although these cars are a few hundred kilos heavier than F1 cars, they do tend to fly very easily and without much warning to the driver!

Michael Andretti finished the pass to early and made contact with the other car whilst moving in front, and the because the car was actually moving across in front when it hit, it caused the car to lift at the rear and then flip.
