If you think about it, one has to have an awful lot of faith to be an Atheist, because they'd believe absolutely that there was no God, and to do so would require a lot of faith. @madforbooks I understand your point but can't fully agree with it. To me, it's easier not to believe in something for which there is only unverifiable, somewhat-conflicting, questionably-motivated secondhand evidence.  I don't think that being able to justify and defend a viewpoint one has formed from experience and education is on the same level as having a religion which entails belief in an unverifiable and unfalsifiable hypothesis.

Actually, if you think about the word itself, "theism" means a belief in God, from the Greek Theo root, and the "a" put at the front opposes it. It technically means a lack of belief in God, or a belief in no God, which is different from a total lack of religion. Believe me, I have a fairly decent knowledge of the classics and know my linguistics. Granted, I'm no Cambridge postgrad but I do have a good GCSE in Latin and know a fair bit about Greek.

In my opinion (as a Christian myself) the problems all stem from people tyring to ignore religion. I think dwelling on the line about good and Christian boys misses the point of the song. The character she's playing (or for all we know, Amy herself) is singing about her personal disdain for 'nice boys' and how THEY don't do it for HER. There may even be a thread of irony woven into the lyrics.

I see what you mean, but it is possible to be Christian and enjoy this song. Actually, I am a Protestant Christian myself. However, I am able to listen to this song and forget the message, and just concentrate on the music, because musically, this is an OK song. And really, the lyrics of any song are really the least important part (in my opinion, anyway.)
