judo is still a good tool, but theirs still some fighters you haven't mentioned. Like Hector Lombard, Karo parisyan, Dong Hyun Kim, Yoshihiro akiyama. Theirs some fighters who started out in Judo like Demian Maia, Gegard Mousashi.

But i find a lot of those guys you mentioned, just started in mma, with not much of a striking background.

Their is no doubt that BJJ and Sambo have their origins in judo.

@lucalottasubmission gegard mousasi (30 wins - 3 loses) Kim Dong-hyun (14wins - 0 loses), Hector Lombard (27 wins - 2 loses) Werdum, Anderson Silva, Wand, Belfort, Jacare, Nog, Renzo Gracie all have black belts in Judo. It's more the individual than the style just what works for you. BTW Fedor is a former Russian national champion in Judo and Sambo is descended from Judo just like BJJ is. Sambo has leg locks and spine locks, more ground time but no chokes Fedor won more fights with chokes.

Of course if you have pretty much one discipline and not much else your not going to do great. If you only have wrestling and not much else your going to have similar records to the one dimensional Judo guys. Where are the Olympic gold medal winners in wrestling dominating MMA?
