Can you get the same lap times racing and drifting around track? Which one would be faster? My common sense wich isnt common in this situation tells me racing would?
I love how most honda owners get so angry wen you talk about why you dont like thier cars cause thier fwd, they loss thier mind. Suck it up rwd is just more fun and better for actual racing, why almost all race cars, ie grand touring, jgtc, etc are rwd! RWD for the win!!!
@Blockedwizard1 possibly it allows for lower centre of gravity but mostly it is because fwd can only be taken so far because the front wheels have other things on there mind i.e. steering but racing on roads (street racing) is very different you dont want a lively tail end because that means that you have more chance of smashing into a tree which will happen sooner or later. something tells me you have never drifted in your life anyway
@peazbury ya well the only racing i ever do on the streets is on back roads with touge like qualities, and i've driven both fwd and my 240/rx7/trans am on those roads and the feel is alot, alot better in comparison. the way rwd cars goes around coners just feels better and is faster in my opinion, i'd rather have oversteer than understeer any day.
@peazbury ive driven both fwd and rwd cars round the touge like back roads round here and i prefer a little oversteer than understeer any day. And ive been driving these roads and the only cars i know of that have crashed here were fwd, hmm.
And by the way I drift alot, just not on the track as the closet events are hr's away. If you cant accept that someone with a different opinion than you does something fun with thier car than i feel sorry for you .
@Blockedwizard1 i have an e36 m3 and i agree they are better to drive it has balance points and "feel" that isnt available from fwd very fast and amazingly grounded when its dry but in the wet.... no sir i dont want a race they completely lack usability espicially in scotland where the back roads are thin at best uneven and usually surrounded by trees
@peazbury very true, in the rain when my car hits boost it powerslides like a ,mother-fer, and fwd is consideribly better in the rain, but it's just so much more fun in rwd, i've had a couple of close calls around here but thanks to practicing drifting i've saved my ass and my car's ass lol. im not a good driver any way when it comes to going as fast as you can b ut whne someone like keiichi tsuchiya get behind the wheel of an fr, fwd stands no chance
very very nice. I love the little eg6... well balanced too... too much horsepower will make it very easy to spin because of how light it is... he probably added some weight to the back too so he can get
If you could compare cars to women. The eg6 f20c is Beyonce where as the ae86 is Amy Winehouse. This is a fucking excellent move in the honda scene. I love seeing people MR/FR convert these things.
@takimakikaki well once you get into heavy modding awd is the shit...this car is badass dont get me wrong, i wish my del sol was rwd it probably woulda been more fun.. but still no where close to fast
@blackychan328 not all honda drivers think that. but FWD does have an advantage. there is less power lost in the drivetrain and it's lighter. when you build a honda to race you need to use the weight to your advantage. thats why honda's get beat off the line but can catch up by 2nd. A RWD one or even AWD would be pretty cool to mess with though. I'm putting together an AWD civic right now actually
@REWej8 I own a fwd car, so i am unbiased. Fwd does offer less drivetrain loss and it is lighter, but those are both the same idea. It has less parasitic loss because of the lesser weight. Fwd is technically the best for highway rolls. If you want to launch, you wont be doing well with a FWD. Think of how the weight shifts back and down onto the rear axle at a 45 degree angle, rather than lifting away from itself on FWD
@boardinrider Lol no, RWD is just the best all around, FWD is technically the best (Even though I would take RWD anyday) for highway rolls because there is the least amount of parasitic loss. FWD loses roughly 15% power to the ground, RWD is about 20% and AWD is around 25% power loss. Thats the only reason I said it was the best for highway pulls, even though I dont like FWD and would take RWD anyday. It is widely known that FWD offers the least amount of parasitic loss.
@sookyz RWD is not the best all-round, there are tons of civics that I track with that are just faster out of the corner regardless of "parasitic" loss even though I have more tire, about the same weight and abit more power. All you are doing is Bench racing saying rwd is better because blah blah blah xy reason but not really knowing anything about anything and being nothing more than a Google know it all
@boardinrider Alright thats good for your lightweight track car? The only reason its good on a track is because its lighter, which is common in most FWD cars. FWD is MUCH easier to understeer and therefore not beneficial even for tracking reasons. Ultimately a lightweight RWD car is best. Even for acceleration and launching, think of how the vehicle's weight is pulled back and downward onto the rear axle for traction, but w/ FWD the weight is pulled away from the tires.
@boardinrider Like I said, on a track, lightweight is a HUGE advantage, which these FWD cars youre seeing are. Weight is the killer for cornering, which is why I love my civic, because it weighs 2250 lbs wet and that gives me a big advantage. The understeer does not.
@boardinrider And to finish, you claim I'm just a google knowitall but you havent said anything of fact yet other than that some lightweight cars can beat yours around a track, no shit retard. Stupid troll, thanks for tryin to talk cars bro.
@sookyz Lol I love you. a fwd car with an Lsd can put power down sooner than any rwd car it has nothing to do with it being lighter than my car, it's just physics, If you set your car up properly it wouldn't really understeer that much, just cause you have a base model civic with coilovers doesn't mean all civics or fwd cars understeer, rwd cars can understeer just the same. Learn something, go drive a car on a track and talk to a couple real drivers and learn something
@boardinrider So what about a RWD car with an LSD? Again, think of how the weight transfers back and down onto the rear axle, increasing traction, whereas a FWD car will pull away from the front axle, reducing traction. Are you saying FWD cars are less prone to understeer than RWD? RWD cars do not understeer in the same way, I can accelerate coming out of a turn much earlier with a RWD car than FWD, because if I pin it in my FWD, I'm going to spin and understeer RWD would OVERsteer
@sookyz I don't need to Think about this stuff im experienced with it, A FWD car with an LSD if driven properly will pull you around a corner (think 3 wheeling) so much so you have to fight it to go straight again. a rwd car with an lsd too soon on the gas and you slide out of the corner sideways and sliding is slow, if you pin it in your car and spin and understeer you have no lsd. clearly you have no idea or experience and are doing nothing more than bench racing
@boardinrider You could just further reduce your understeer possibilities, oversteer is much less chance to be hazardly to you or your car, where understeer has much more potential for hitting the ditch/wall, and while not impossible, its also much harder to come back from than oversteer. You can get by perfectly fine by just knowing how much throttle to apply when cornering and when to pin it. Try being a skilled driver.
@boardinrider Whats wrong with coilovers??? Lol theyre desired for tracking cars because you can adjust height and stiffness on the fly.... what setup do you have thats better?
@kentrob90 Civics are already awesome they way they're, last thing we need is bunch of drift faboys...ricers moved on to Silvias, so keep them, tell them we don't want them back.
@apexdna not sure what you mean ricers moved to Silvias... a civic is like the epitome of rice but whatever. and its not just about drifting, rwd makes cars handle better all around
@kentrob90 People have been messing with Hondas since mid-'80s, a good 10-15 years before the "rice" epidemic took a toll on whatever that was big at the moment. "Rice" existed before, it just wasn't as flamboyant and downright stupid like it was in the late '90s/early 2000s...but it's making a comeback, in the form of "drift rice", as history tends to repeat itself. What was once original is becoming more common. Don't believe me? Looks up the HIN event from a week ago.
@kentrob90 the conversion would be so much it wouldnt even sell that well id imagine not to mention its not just some "kit" thered be massive fabrication needed everything from the front of the engine bay all the way to the tailpipe.
I had a 93 civic si hatch ( this body style ) when I was in high school and to imagine driving it with RWD and the power from a F20 just makes me smile. The only thing I would want other then this would be the other car I owned which was my 2000 Civic Si ( Electronic Blue Pearl ) w/ RWD. I would literally own that car till the day I died...
@BACO1029 ... no ...cause the hatch has the F20 swap... those come out of the Honda S2K's ... S2000 if yu don't know wat that means...yu could even make an F20 a FWD ... just turn the motor and put a FWD tranny on it...I would go GSR or ITR with the tranny...if yur gonna have an F20
Im a hard fucker to impress when it comes to Hondas because like everyone else iv seen nearly all that can be done but i am seriously impressed by this video. Top class drifting in a sexy little hatch.
i think the only thing fwd does better then rwd is take offs. for sum reason ive noticed that they just take off faster. but rwd has a but load of speed once it gets going. it has to have something to do with weight position.
@colimenco because there fuckin faster you damn cumm jugglin thunder cunt. if you dont have some respect then grow a pair and learn some. your maybe your balls havnt drop would explain the reason for your 5 year old remark. and to also state that fwd sum at corners. when you put to much tq and hp on the front wheels you'll understeer in the corners because your tires will keep spinning and it'll cause you not to turn. use ur damn brain
@66sucks Im not too sure but i'd say RWD grips a bit better for take offs, ive got both rear and front wheel drive cars atm, the front wheel just spins up when i launch but the RWD really takes off, being pushed is usually faster than being pulled.
@AyeItsMike it could depend on the car. cuz i have an 08 caliber. and ive noticed that the way the tranny is built combined with the computer chip, it doesnt really spin. it just goes. i always seem to take off faster then like 75-80% of the rwd cars. thats stock cars not supped up cuz my car isnt even supped up. to poor. lol. but it takes off prewtty decent. just if i try to gun a corner it'll push my out cuz im trying to lead a car where most the weight in the front where rwd is more balanced
There's a dynamic weight shift onto the rear tires during acceleration. The CM point is higher than the traction point and so the sprung mass has a torque acting on an imaginary vertical line downwards from the CM point. This torque translates to a vertical force at the front of the car and a vertical force at the rear. During acceleration, this means robbing the front of grip and increasing the grip on the rear. Thus rear wheel drive vehicles always have better grip on takeoff.
He's either a dork or a troll. Either way he wont listen to rationality. I just thought you might be interested in the basic physics behind weight shift, since you said you "werent too sure"
Youtube comments are not the best medium for long, drawn out explanations...
@Jlizel Maybe if you don't punch the gas and drive it like a normal person on the streets you wouldn't have that problem. And yes, i too have a honda. 95 ej1 wit D15b vtec. but i dont race it period cus i know im gonna lose all the time with that motor.
@bmx2dayy What do you think the "R" in "MR" stands for? Mid engine cars aren't magically no longer RWD... well, except the ones that aren't RWD. Some are all wheel drive (M4 layout) such as the Veyron and the Murciélago... And, in freak cases, there was even mid engine, front wheel drive (MF), used in old Citroëns and Saabs and stuff. In those cases. the engine was actually in front of the driver, but behind the front wheels.
@apexdna yea, I had a 1993 vigor. Produced decent power stock but cost a fortune to mod since most things end up custom made. so i just left it stock since i stay broke... lol. and when you walk in to a parts dealer and ask for 5 spark plugs the look on their face is priceless
@bmx2dayy the nsx and s2000 were the last rwd cars they ever made . the nsx was supposed to be replaced by the hsv but it was made into a race car with no production model. the worst decision they made was discontinuing the nsx and s2000. now all they have is the civic si and crz
Lets see your FWD do that :P

kevzilla92 1 year ago
i think the only thing fwd does better then rwd is take offs. for sum reason ive noticed that they just take off faster. but rwd has a but load of speed once it gets going. it has to have something to do with weight position.
66sucks 1 year ago
@66sucks
If fwd takes off faster than rwd then why do top fuel cars run rwd? Dumbass
colimenco 1 year ago
@colimenco because there fuckin faster you damn cumm jugglin thunder cunt. if you dont have some respect then grow a pair and learn some. your maybe your balls havnt drop would explain the reason for your 5 year old remark. and to also state that fwd sum at corners. when you put to much tq and hp on the front wheels you'll understeer in the corners because your tires will keep spinning and it'll cause you not to turn. use ur damn brain
66sucks 1 year ago
@66sucks Im not too sure but i'd say RWD grips a bit better for take offs, ive got both rear and front wheel drive cars atm, the front wheel just spins up when i launch but the RWD really takes off, being pushed is usually faster than being pulled.
AyeItsMike 1 year ago
@AyeItsMike it could depend on the car. cuz i have an 08 caliber. and ive noticed that the way the tranny is built combined with the computer chip, it doesnt really spin. it just goes. i always seem to take off faster then like 75-80% of the rwd cars. thats stock cars not supped up cuz my car isnt even supped up. to poor. lol. but it takes off prewtty decent. just if i try to gun a corner it'll push my out cuz im trying to lead a car where most the weight in the front where rwd is more balanced
66sucks 1 year ago
@66sucks is your gear box lsd and has it got tcs
gokuman63 11 months ago
@AyeItsMike
MrGospelMan 11 months ago
@MrGospelMan Surely this should be directed at the guy saying FWD is faster? I already know RWD is quicker from experiance.
AyeItsMike 11 months ago
@AyeItsMike
He's either a dork or a troll. Either way he wont listen to rationality. I just thought you might be interested in the basic physics behind weight shift, since you said you "werent too sure"
Youtube comments are not the best medium for long, drawn out explanations...

Fwd licks donkey balls all day Honda should of made civics like this from the start

@bmx2dayy They did... they were called "S2000" and "NSX". Where do you think the drivetrain came from?
CPUOverclocker64 8 months ago
@CPUOverclocker64 most ae fwd though like the civic in the video.
the nsx is a "mid engine car" and i know the drivetrain could of came from anything its called "fab work"
bmx2dayy 8 months ago
@bmx2dayy What do you think the "R" in "MR" stands for? Mid engine cars aren't magically no longer RWD... well, except the ones that aren't RWD. Some are all wheel drive (M4 layout) such as the Veyron and the Murciélago... And, in freak cases, there was even mid engine, front wheel drive (MF), used in old Citroëns and Saabs and stuff. In those cases. the engine was actually in front of the driver, but behind the front wheels.
CPUOverclocker64 8 months ago
@CPUOverclocker64 good to know but all hondas should still come rwd instead of stuffing evreything into the front
bmx2dayy 8 months ago
@CPUOverclocker64 Old Acura TLs and Vigors are like that...with longitudinally-mounted 5-cylinders.
apexdna 2 months ago
@apexdna Yeah, the G-series. I had to change the trans in one of those once, it is quite a hassle. Interesting nonetheless, however.
CPUOverclocker64 2 months ago
@apexdna yea, I had a 1993 vigor. Produced decent power stock but cost a fortune to mod since most things end up custom made. so i just left it stock since i stay broke... lol. and when you walk in to a parts dealer and ask for 5 spark plugs the look on their face is priceless
spawn2k1 2 months ago
@spawn2k1 I bet, haha...I wish they've made older Integras like that, front-mid-engine that is.
apexdna 2 months ago
@bmx2dayy the nsx and s2000 were the last rwd cars they ever made . the nsx was supposed to be replaced by the hsv but it was made into a race car with no production model. the worst decision they made was discontinuing the nsx and s2000. now all they have is the civic si and crz
DragonInfraXtremeRGT 7 months ago
@bmx2dayy they dont make the s2000 or nsx anymore, no more rwd from honda and it aint a joke
