  • Hey man I have no idea what you are up to - I am thinking like a corporate executive who fancies himself a musician... but all is well man, a good song indeed. There is a line in that song " you are what your are and you ain't what you ain't..." But I great song to be playing nonetheless....

  • Thanks man....preciate you stopping in and your comment. I am actually in technical sales and nowhere NEAR an executive :)

  • To Henzy12345;

"Dear Abby" was on the album "Sweet Revenge" It was released in 1973. Check your facts next time.

  • great job!

  • Thanks for your comment...i appreciate it!

  • i like this song alot nd not just because my name is abby

  • Im glad you stopped by to have a listen to my cover...

  • John Prine is a bitch.

This song was really written by a man named Bob Stevens in the late 1980's.

    Stolen song is stoooolen.

  • Hm, i let John know next time I speak to him

  • God is just some guy who bought Sim City and was bored. Some guy sitting at a giant computer is controlling you right now. When you have several decisions going through your head and you don't know which one to pick, God does. "Flirt? Tickle? Entertain?" He decides. You have no say in The Sims. You're just some computer graphic.

    That is God.

  • i have a recording of John Prine doing it, and He says He wrote it, after reading a newspaper in Rome Italy.

  • I always loved this song and the many variations, we sang it at scout camp every year. We always came up with something new to add to it over the winter. I looked it up today to post to a friends page who is not doing that good and feels indifferent. LOL I thought maybe this would help him feel better

  • Thanks for your comment! I have been recovering form a brief illness and I appreciate the nice words!

So, did it help them feel better? :)

  • I think you played it great! I find that the songs that are so special to me are so because of personal feelings like the sentiment about your Granfather. Some things are more important than a technicalty correct performance. You've got my subscription. Thanks for sharing and keep them coming.

    Brian

  • Thanks Brian, i appreciate you taking some time to watch and listen!

  • This is just fantastic!

  • thank you for the comment!

  • Just a tremendous version of one of my favorite John Prine songs. Really great stuff. Thanks for posting it.

  • Thanks Dukebrot

  • ouch, nice and smooth, even the voice..but there's a chord change there that just aint what it aint. :) signed unhappy :)

  • Ha...nice, i need to add that verse ;)

  • I didn't realize I can see your hands and the chords. Try this. on "my rights are all wrong" Instead of going right to D major, transition from G major through A major and then D major on "wrong". If you can do inversion chords..play the A in first inversion. notes are C# E A rather than A C# E

Same thing applies to the other verses.

  • thanks for the tip

  • i grew up listening to john prine. thank you john and one of my wonderful hippy, green before it was cool laid back in california sister. margie.the sun also rises.

  • Ha, indeed! Thanks for watching!
