Actually if you work with a vg30et its much simpler and more cheaper than working on the vg30dett the results will show u that the sohc engine is much better than the dohc more power with little money and like i said its way more cheap just get a 1984-1989 300zx with vg30e or the vg30et engine turbo it port the heads change intake and exaust manifolds to suit your build vg30e bottom ends are strong and can handle a little over 473 horse power until your bearings spin
Well i'm sure on paper it looks like the 5.0 is easier to mod but knowing a guy with a 5.0 he told me its hard to mod beyond exhaust and simple bolt ons. My 300zx tt weighs 3400 lbs which isn't much more than this mustang weighs.I think like 200lbs more.THe Z comes with 75 more hp making it have a better power to weight ratio. And yes they are hard to work on but the engine is a real beast. With the mustang you can add blot ons and change gearing and what not but without spending a lot of money you won't go any faster. For $20 you can buy a boost controller and plug it in the Z and almost double boost gaining massive amounts of hp

well mine dynoed at 403rwhp and i think 393 tq which is plenty. Stock they are 300hp and 283 lb·ft tq which really isn't bad. Its just not a v8 so you cannot expect it to be like the mustangs 225 hp and 300 ft·lbs tq having higher tq than hp.

Engine advantage= more cubic inches and more valves for the ability to add more horsepower and torque, which the mustang has. That is not a modified tt car. The car comes stock with twin turbos. That Z is probrobably stock and the mustang sounds like it has atleast cams and h/i/e.

@mcrghost92 You do realize how easy and cheap it is to make a Honda fast (Prelude, Civic, Accord, S2000...)? Sure a motor swap may be needed, depending, but you're still using 4 cylinders. It's also very easy to reach 300whp, but doing it on a Civic or CRX means 1800-2200lbs. As long as the tires hook, that's a nasty quick car that can easily dominate a lot of V8s.

Matter of fact, I used to drive a '93 Civic coupe that weighed about 2200lbs w/ nothing stripped and only minor modifications and I lost to a modified 5.0 by less than 2 car lengths @ 110mph...and my clutch was worn out pretty bad.

@99b16honda1 That mustang maybe has an exhaust system, and possibly a cai and I doubt it, but maybe gears. That's it. All he needs is a Heads/Cam/Intake swap and he's putting about 300 to the wheels. All done for less than 5k, car included. 2800 lbs and 300 hp / 315 rwtq (estimates?). That honda, stock or not, wouldn't have a chance in hell, sorry.

@mcrghost92 You do realize how easy and cheap it is to make a Honda fast (Prelude, Civic, Accord, S2000...)? Sure a motor swap may be needed, depending, but you're still using 4 cylinders. It's also very easy to reach 300whp, but doing it on a Civic or CRX means 1800-2200lbs. As long as the tires hook, that's a nasty quick car that can easily dominate a lot of V8s.

What I'm refering to is a CRX that weighs around 1700lbs from the factory, 1900 at the most fully loaded. Matter of fact, I used to drive a '93 Civic coupe that weighed about 2200lbs w/ nothing stripped and only minor modifications and I lost to a modified 5.0 by less than 2 car lengths @ 110mph...and my clutch was worn out pretty bad.
