  • This is excellent, great work! :)

  • Not perfect, but rather good

  • @Jack80880 I appreciate that, thank you. :)

  • Omg love the picture xDD

  • i luv jacks face!!! he looks like sum1 just kicked him in the butt!!!

  • 8 ppl think up is down!

  • AMAZING!! can you make a tutorial for it?

  • @theseekersring I probably could, but I don't think I would. It's more of a time thing, I'm afraid. Sorry about that. But it's not difficult to learn. Once you know the chords - and there aren't very many for this piece, I'm sure you can learn it easily. ;)

  • welll done! this is great, I faved it, and Im def going to listen for help and inspiration while I learn it.

  • wow, very good

  • Realplayer has a converter you can install on Firefox.

  • this is easier version...but very nice :))

  • @pajule123

    wuts the more dificult version?

  • You can get the sheet music for this at music notes.com all you have to do is pay for it and then print it off.

  • It was awesome man! check my version too!

    watch?v=l4UoB1Y-kLM

  • this is great :) this seems like it wud be a really hard piece to play, even for me, who have been playing for five years. but you did a nice job with it

  • Thank you. I've been playing for over fifteen years now (eighteen, to be exact), so I've had some time to practice.

  • wooow nice

  • wow did you played this whole song without a song sheet?

  • Yeah, pretty much. ;;

  • Better than the original, downloaded this to my ipod ages ago, helped me through a very difficult time.

  • That flatters me. Thank you. :) I'm glad you enjoyed it. To be honest, this is probably the only time I was able to play it all the way through without any major mistakes.

  • @tobywisener how do u download stuff from youtube onto ur ipod?? ive been wanting to do that for ages but i can NEVER figure it out!! can u help?

  • @dspeev8 Mm, I don't know exactly, but what I do is convert a YouTube video with the audio I want into an mp3 file (or if I want the video, a wmv file) onto my computer.

  • Unfortunately I couldn't play the flutes, violins, trombones, precussion instruments, and other instruments used in the original score simultaneously. So you'll have to forgive me for it being far from the original.

  • lol, good one ;)

  • @GoldenFlither15 aw. u should rlly practice that. after several thousand years, i expect to see great things from u. lol

  • nicely done.. it gave me inspiration

  • That was so good! I didn't think you sped up anywhere. The tempo seemed consistent throughout. Awesome job!

  • This is great

  • where was the speed up?? i didn't hear it!! lol awsome!!

  • it didnt speed up but it was a bit fast right from the beginning.

  • great job this is the best part of the movie.

  • If that was sped up by accident due to pressure of the camera then always have a camera for this song cuz that tempo was amazing and i loved it and ur great at piano =)

  • does any one know where to find these sheets?

  • a user pellishau has them

  • Holy sh*t this was th4e best piano soundtrack from PotC that I've ever heard!

    Awesome talent!

  • you're THE BEST...where have you found the sheet?

  • I did find some, but it was way too easy. Plus, I had already taught myself this version when I found it.

  • omg that was brilliant congrats, im learning at the moment to play he is a pirate from POTC i hope to be as good as you!

  • asome XD

  • hy klinkt in et begin een beetje ´niet vol´zeg ma. verder niets mis mee, mooi zelfs. heb je em op die snelheid gespeeld of versneld af gespeeld :P

  • very good! (much better than me, haha)

  • I need to learn this song, so I can add it to my almost complete melody of every song in the series. I think I only need to learn this and 2 or 3 more to technically have every single one. I even learned some of the other melodies by ear, but most of the tougher ones I watched videos on how to play them, then added my own little flare to them. Like on this song, I'm going to add more chords near the beginning =P

  • this is great I am just now learning to this song... and if I can get mine to saound like this I will be thankful.

  • et klinkt een beetje........... lullig.

  • hoezo lullig....? -.- t klinkt toch goed?

  • Got chills, so good

  • Firstly... WOW! I can't play piano at all but that was enough to inspire even someone like me into learning to play. Thank you!

Secondly... how did you manage to put so much emotion into this? I am seriously impressed.

Thirdly... please keep it up! Cheers!

  • jack looks so funny like that

  • he always looks funny =P

  • sounds amazing and the fact that you played it by ear makes it even more great

  • AMAZING

  • nice job! xD

  • There are sheets on internet. I have them and wish to play like that... It's beautifull :)

  • awesome!! :D

  • Holy (word I can't say lol)! This is probably the best version I've heard! And your speed was fine; this is amazing...wow...I wish I could play this! 5/5 stars. Great job~ I love Jack's expression, too! XD

  • LOL JACKS EXPRESSION FTW. SO FUNNY

  • this is beautiful :) well done x

  • wanna give me the sheet music for this? XD

  • did you learn it from hans zimmer's original piece or from someone composing this themselves???

  • I listened to the original orchestra and played it by ear.

  • Amazing job! Must have taken forever to learn!

  • Woah! relly good, was this by ear?

  • Yessir. :)

  • hey, I didn't notice any speeding.

I play piano myself, and I wish i could play this!

  • Wheee! I loved this part of the movie! Your playing is awesome.... LOL! I love Jack's face on this! ^_^

  • Awesome!

  • that was great.

i wrote out a version of up is down on the computer. see what u think

  • very tight indeed, one of the sickest ive seen

    good job!

    :)

  • very nice!!!! tutorial please!!!^^

  • This is great. Very nice.

  • The piano. I didn't even know the computer could play it for you.

  • yes it can u need a program for that

  • Cool. Wouldn't mind that program.

  • this is great! i love hans zimmer's music. did u play this by ear?

  • sounds great!

  • rofl at the look on jack's face

    good song

  • Beutiful song

does anyone know what the name of this song is?

    up is down?

    pls tell me asap

  • Yup. It's called 'Up is Down'.

  • awesome! 5 stars!I luv this song!

  • good!

  • how r u disappointed with this it turned out great!!!

  • Just as a bit of a tip i wish to let you know that you are missing half of your melody. at about 00:14 where you start playing the melody there is an A on the off beat of each beat, which you are missing so it should go something like this: F, 8th rest(8R), A, F, 8R, A, E, F, E, D, 8R, A, and then do it all over again a second time and then you have your repeat where you continue on into your second melody. If you have trouble understanding what I mean, message me and ill get you a score for it.

  • No I understand, and, frankly, I knew about the A. ;) I took it out for the first time round because it kind of threw off the rest of the melody, especially since the tune was only just beginning. The A made it seem like too many notes for a melody introduction. (it's kind of hard to explain, nonetheless, it didn't sound as good). I'm aware that there's an A on the off beat in the original score, but.. I don't know. I just took it out.

Thank you, though. I appreciate you bringing it up. :)

  • hey, can u help me with something? u seem to know the song pretty well. i get how to play the first part, but what do i play after the C? thanx alot!

  • Which C do you mean? For now, I'm assuming you mean the C after repeating that first part four times. Well, after that, you're simply going up like so: 2D 4R 4E 8E 2F 4R 4G 8G 2A 4R 4F 8G 2C(high) 4R 4E 4D(high).

If that is completely useless information to you, please inform me. Hopefully this helped somehow.

  • I agree with saslovesmusic. I think you did a really good job with reprising the original. I wish I had your talent. Plus, no mistakes! (Not that I can tell, anyway.) I clapped at the end of it.

  • i can't see why you're dissapointed with this this came out really good! Better then anything I could do! =D

  • Is this the easier version? Because my version has more 8th notes.

  • No, this is a version that doesn't exist.

  • Got Yah! Well then it sounds pretty darn awesome!

  • Here's a trick. Remember that you can always redo it. Or, you coud play with a metronome!

  • I'm not fond of it, but nonetheless, I get some positive reviews, so I'm just gonna leave it up anyway. ;;

  • great

  • Dude that's awesome isn't that hard to play lol i barely figured out the first part lol

    i'll give you a 5/5 nice

  • can you post more? plz

  • Wow this is very good, I wish I could play pirates on piano, but I don't play any instrument...

  • it got better as you played it but pratic more

  • Yeah. I should. Thank you for your honesty.

  • um, this is actually a reply to me asking u the notes after the first C. i couldn't find the original comment i posted earlier. i play flute, so i really don't know what u mean in the reply u gave me. what are the numbers for? and what does 4R mean? would it be possible to just get note names? i can figure the rythm out by myself

  • Uh huh. Sorry about that. In that case, just take out all the numbers. 4R just means a rest for a quarter of a beat.

  • I'm sorry but it wasn't all to good.

    But great effort though!

  • Thanks. What wasn't good about it? Left hand arrangement? Playing style? Incorrect keys? Wrong notes? Please. I'd love to know so I can improve.

  • Amazing did u use sheet music?

  • Nope, I didn't. And thank you. :)

  • that's really great!! I like this piece!!

  • Very nice. This is my favorite piece of music from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. This is different from the original, but it's on the piano instead of with a full orchestra, so that's to be expected. Now I just have to make my friend who plays piano learn it...

  • I liked it a lot! I noticed the differences between this version and the original, but I didn't mind it at all. It was great!

Check out my video - I transcribed One Day. :D

  • this is really good

    keep up the good work

  • Nice this inspires me to keep playing piano (i suck) :(

  • Nice version, but some notes aren't accurate when they aren't missing...

    But nice version anyway ;)

  • Thanks. Yeah, I'm aware of the fact that it's not perfect. But, ah well. I tried my best.

Do you mean accurate to the sheet music? 'Cause, after looking over it at my friend's place, I decided it wasn't all that good. I know versions here on YouTube that are way better than those notes. Then again, the book is for easy piano. Which bores me.

  • No, I meant accurate to the real song (you posted this video as a video comment of my version, remember?? :)

  • 'Course.

Oh, I understand. To be honest (I'm sure you would know this), it's really difficult to get all the right notes when playing a song that was meant for an orchestra on the piano. You're better at it than I am.

I'm not gonna lie, though. I enjoy playing this everytime. :)

  • Yours is my favourite of all the piano versions of this song! Really liked it :D
