  • Good vídeo. Viva Mestre Bimba !!!!!!!!!

  • is heard that blacks in brazil started BJJ they call it afro BJJ

  • cleve kinda looked like barack obama

  • I remember watching videos like this on tv and internet day-dreaming , 2-3 yrs ago..If Oooonnly they was an academia in my city!

I started training by myself, kinda like the Senzela group did back in the days, and then i found an amazing group in my city, Grupo Sul Da Bahia. Since then my life has completely changed, i encourage any passionnate individual to start capoeira..sooner then u think u'll live, breath and smile Caaaapoeira!!

  • Salve Mestre Rubens Bamba !!!

  • Capoeira, once banned by the Brazilian colonial society, is now openly accepted as Brazilian heritage. Culture is fluid in that it will accept and adopt ideas around it even if such ideas are seen as alien and even dangerous. The human experience is one of adoption in that cultures are always built up from layers of past belief and practice that came before them. Capoeira is one of the best evidence of this.

  • Bamba is the name of the Mestre in the video (Rubens Silva)

  • ???

  • That luta thing sounds cool.

  • 0:19,ol girl gotta nice brazilian terd-cutter(booty).

  • damn they make capoeira kicks looks so powerful

  • testing

  • Ok, just wanted to make sure my coments can be posted.

  • u guys know nothin about this i do it and u better shut ur mouth or else youll get some capoeira kicks in your face!

  • ...man listen to some of you faggs talkin about this aint affective as kung-fu.give credit where it's do,you hatin bastards know this art of fighing is very unique. muthafuckas always tryin to down talk anything created by blacks, then turn around and steal it.

  • he looks nothing like obama lol

  • Kung fu is not more impressive and usefull if ure not the right person for it.

I'm from brasil too and i saw many capoeiristas fighting on the ring also with bjj.

So it can be also used for vale tudo.

  • Obama at 2:00.

  • LOL!he do look like a younger version of obama.

  • ah, yes, when he somersaults at 2:25 as the narrator says "energy" one cannot help the tears of joy and pride.

we can only marvel at his magnificence and beauty, as well as the finesse with which he executes his moves.

let us all courageously join together to work our various talents in a similar effort for world peace, prosperity, and happiness.

  • myy country brasil!!!!

    afro-brasilian!!!

  • i'm Brazilian too, but i'm white.. we have so many faces, lol.....

  • your an edomite then in amerikkka we call white man the el diablo the devil

  • "el diablo", eh? that's unfortunate. i guess you'll find racist scumbags everywhere.

  • Did i say something wrong?? i didn't mean to say nothing racist or something.. i don't know what's your problem......

  • Did you see the Star of David on the floor? We are not to follow the 'star of david' but this shows a deep message. We are the Israelites.

  • Fighting disguised as dancing\\ brilliant...and beautiful African art.

  • lol Funny we recently had a Kung-Fu master come to our school in Ohio and he said he has a lot of respect for it and thinks the principles it teaches are fine among other Martial Arts. That opinion is from a Kung-Fu MASTER. What are your credentials again? ; )

  • Well, Kung Fu is about 5000 years old. Capoeira's style is circular mostly. However it does have rhythmn. The attacks can't be as varying and rapid as Kung Fu. Also Capoeira mostly utilize their legs as primary attack. While Kung Fu on the other hand uses the entire body.

  • Taekwondo is the same concept as Capoeira in the fact that kicks are there primary weapon. But in taekwondo we also practiced punching as well as some elbow and knee techniques. Strikes with the knees, hands, elbows, even the head exist in Capoeira. Both arts use the whole body as a weapon, but not to the extent like styles such as Muay Thai.

  • it is a martial arts, thats what the movie"only the strong"(1994)is about.go to the youtube searchbar and check it out.

  • really??? are you sure about that?? i guess you should fight a Capoeira Master !!

  • Well, actually the head of Capoeira once defeated a U.S. Marine. So that feat gives the art some credibility.

  • hahaha, "the head of capoeira"? who in the hell is THAT?!

  • I meant to say Mestre Bimba. He defeated a U.S. Marine using a backfist technique called "godeme."

Look in the Wikipedia article for "godeme" under "List of capoeira techniques."

The article does not say it was a U.S. Marine, that bit of info came from one of my classmates who is a capoeira practitioner.

Next time when asking a question, try not to be so arrogant.

  • Thanks for the iidea. Do you know if any video or photo footage is existent about Mestre Bimba fighting?

  • Here is a trailer for a movie about Mestre Bimba capoeira career, there is not many videos on him on Youtube.

    watch?v=Wvfc7vxVCzs

  • Thank you very much.

  • i trained in shaolin kung fu for a couple of years and it was completely useless as a form of self defense. it was a beautiful artform though.

  • Lemme ask you this.

did you ever spar with some one as a kung fu practitioner?

In Capoeira, the games are a type of light sparring. that way get you used to dealing with someone in an offensive situation.

you gotta remember, Capoeira is mostly a sport, a game, but its just as effective in the right hands.

  • i meant our style of kung fu was beautiful but impractical.

  • The Bakongo and Bandundu brought Capoeira from Africa where they refined it with the native Americans.

  • whats up with that star in the middle of the floor??? great video though. its nice to see something positive in Brasil.

  • What a beautiful art! It is a wonderful merging of two cultures, African and South American. Bravo!

  • African and South American? Where what you call 'South American culture' enters in capoeira?

  • listen to the video.

  • I did it again.

  • One of my counselors at Japanese immersion camp knew Capoeria! It's really an amazing art.

  • boxers take ballet for balance, coordination, flexibility, and strength.

In order for someone to really appreciate Capoeira as a martial art, you have to go to the batizados.

Thats where it is painfully clear that most capoeiristas are fighters first and foremost.

  • he didn't say all boxers

  • I am a boxer.

I know boxers who do just that.

  • capoeira is so beautiful , whats amazing is it is dancing and fighting combined.
