I had morphine this morning in hospital. I don't know what's so addicting about it! Even though it was a small dose I hated it! My ears started ringing, i ztarted seeing white and yeah other stuff I don't remember/ know how to describe. Hate that stuff!

Morphine is a gift from god...it is a natural subtance that is extracted from the opium plant. It has helped countless people with pain. I take it 3 times a day for back and leg pain from multiple surgeries.

i was hospitalized yesterday bcuz of a serious chronic illness i have which causes pain...i was surprised that they were so willingly to give me dilaudid..to some people this would be fine because it gets rid of your pain fast...but in my case im pregnant..so for them to be able to give it to me without question surprised me..then they told me that this wouldnt hurt the baby...well if that wouldnt hurt the baby why would all these other drugs be different???...

@CNSagent You're right. But some forms of opiods have more Euphoric and pleasurable effects. Morphine and Heroin are pretty much the same drug (one is just stronger mg for mg). At one time, they actually used heroin as a cough suppressant and to help aid Morphine addicts slowly withdraw from the drug. That worked out just swell!! Then there's Methadone for the treatment of Heroin addiction lol. Bull shit. It's just as addicting. These drugs along with Oxycontin are probably the most addictive.

By the way, "OxyContin" is a brand name. The opioid agonist is oxycodone. Oxymorphone and hydromorphone are also quite potent opioid agonists which essentially pose a high potential addiction, abuse and dependence. Four mg alprazolam is actually equal to around 80mg diazepam.

@CNSagent Okay, u seem more in the know about this stuff than me. I just stay the fuck away from the ones that are high in acetaphinophen. Absolutely kills my stomach. Vicodin, Percocet, Tylenol 1-4 are basically pain killers that work like otc shit (prostaglandins), and are simply spiked with loads of hydrocodone, codeine, and oxycodone. I thought Oxycontin (oxycodone) does not contain any acetaphinophen? I think 4mg's of Xanax is equal to only 40mg's of Valium but I'll check it out. Thanks.

I also meant to say that vicodin, percocet, and tylenol 1-4 are spiked with with loads of acetaminophen (instead I listed the chemical names to legend drugs). That's why these drugs are (imo) so dangerous when taken in excess as I'm sure you know. Many people are ignorant to how much and how harmful all of that acetaminophen is, and that you're only getting a little bit of hydrocodone, codeine, or oxycodone in the drug
@6tbonemmvn77 I wish more people knew that about those more commonly prescribe opiates (I HATE Tylenol). But, all of that Tylenol was purposely put there to discourage abuse of most of those pills. EXCEPT Tylenol 2, 3 & 4. Codeine is a prodrug and without it, it would be virtually useless. Tylenol's also not an Nsaid, for anyone that cares. =p lol (Also, 2mg Xanax= 80mg Valium TECHNIQUELLY. They're basically the same, Valium's just 'active' longer than Xanax.)

Hey everyone, I too am an opiate addict. I was using IV heroin everyday for over 4 years. I got on suboxone at first without insurance and had to pay $7 per pill for 90 pills per month plus Dr. fees, which was more than $500 a month just to stay clean. I've since gotten great insurance which allows me to get all my suboxone for free and I have a lot of extra suboxone scripts left over. I am willing to help anybody out who wants to get clean but doesn't have the funds to do it. Message me
you can still take heroin orally. If you take 20 mg orally, you just took 44 mg of morphine orally. however, who the fuck would want to take either orally? If you're going to go so far as to acquire morphine or heroin, why don't you just IV them?
Morphine was used in WWII, and WWI for pain. Yes it was used to remove pain, and yes a lot of soldiers did die when Morphine was administered, but not from the Morphine, but from the severe wounds. With out the morphine, the Soldiers would have died in agony and in many cases given away the location of troops to the enemy, from the screaming and thrashing about.

If it wasn't for morphine, they would of never discovered other pain killers from Oxycodone to Hydrocodone.Now we have pain killers for weak pain(codein,darvocet,tramadol), for moderate pain(hydrocodone), and for severe pain(Dilauded,Morphine,Oxycodone). We have it for short term pain and flair ups(Oxycodone IR) and long term pain(Oxycontin,MS Contin). I am aware of the destruction opiates have caused.
Doctors in America are so fuckin scared by the FDA and DEA that it is impossible to even be perscribed m/s contin anymore even for people who really need it. I was on 200 mg of m/s contin for over 10 years 100mg twice a day for cronic pain then they switched me to 100 mg methadone and over 2 1/2 years weaned me off. Today it is misreable. Fuck You America and the FDA and DEA!!! There are other ways..
@madisonelectronic so when injected or snorted it goes directly to the receptor in that form. So when metabolized it becomes the weaker and legal morphine. So you need not look at metabolism you need to look at the product that is delivered to the system.
I've recently started morphine as an addition to my fentanyl patches....i have found it to work only if i take four times the recommended dose. it's not very strong to me.

@Brighteyes1ful I have been in pain management since 2008 so I have had them all but if you say Morphine is slowing your breathing I would try something weaker like Percocet
@tayllor2900 it would depend on what dose of fentanyl you are on, but it sounds like you are not on a strong enough pain relief, there are other avenues that you can look into for pain relief ask your gp or md in america, hope that you get well soon!.

You know, don't forget that codiene is metabolized into morphine via CYP2D6 which is where the analgesic properties come from but genetics will dictate slow or fast metabolism of the drug. Do you know which CYP metabolizes heroin? Does it deliver morphine differently? I mean it seems kind of stupid if it possess no benefit from straight morphine? Educate me on this.

@mdelair420 Sorry to hear about the pain problems. Yes we can all build tolerance to the opiates but I guess the federal government decided the addictive properties were too strong in comparison to its medicinal qualities... esp. if injected.
Also, I looked at some of my resources and fentanyl is available as a buccal tablet that is placed in the buccal cavity. Normal GI absorption must be or poor unpredictable since there is no real tablet form of the drug but I will look more into it.

@1500Percent. By law here the the United States heroin does NOT have the same medical use, its a schedule I narcotic. In the UK it IS sold as a pain releif medication as an oral tablet but I don't know the laws there so I can't comment. The fact is with heroin, the route of administration, the pharrmacokinetics, and the laws that dictate its use and if its considered to have a medical use of not.

Here, in the US, Morphine used to be available in hypodermic soluble tabs for @$10/0.5 grain in '69, Dilaudid a dollar a milligram. Numorphan (Endo) was the best. Readily soluble, beautiful blue color. I'm old and recall the days of thew French COnnection heroin. Why can't they legalize this and stop the damage seen on this site? Too logical, I guess. Sorry to butt in but Heroin IS used medicinally. As i said im a pain patient.. It is used in a clinical context and known as Diamorphine, only given to terminal patients as of the obvious addictive potential. Its used I.V and isnt often used. Its also available on script in the U.K for long term addicts. I was in talks with my pain clinic about switching to Hydromorphone (Dilaudid) and changing my SR meds from fentanyl to Palladone SR but here in the UK palladones hardly ever used.
@mdelair420. Fentanyl is not delivered as a pill and yes the patch can kill because of its very slow absortion and changes in absorption depending on the situtation. If you overdose on a patch it takes 17 hours to leave your system. It a whole different animal.

i have a double herniated spinal column (l4/l5) and a torn disc with degenerative disc disease.. had five back operations. Im in the UK ive been using oxycodone and fentanyl for 3 years and prior to this i was on oral morphine (ora morph) i can honestly say these medications have SAVED my life. The amount of shit i go through to get the oxycodone is HELL! but its a CD (controlled drug) for a reason. all ill say is if you dont have chronic pain DONT use it. withdrawals are VILE VILE VILE

Hmm in the UK - Morphine is prescribed only under very special circumstances, and they would certainly not give you a quanity in tablet or liquid form - a nurse has to visit you and administer each dose.
This is for extreme circumstances like cancer after chemo.
And ladym - just don't lol - I've had a hint of this in the form of opium tea - it is highly addictive even in this weakened format....

Morphine is not an opioid, it is an opiate. This is because it is not a synthetic opium analogue, but an actual opium derivative found naturally in the Opium Poppy (Papaver Somniferum)
im on the 12 hour ex release 60 mg pills, but itt does not even come close to lasting that long. my back hurts 2 hours after i take it, then it dies down for about 4 hours, then it starts hurting like hell again. which leaves me 6 hours till i can take the other one
been on morphine & diconal for severe pain for a long while now, but even in its mst continus form its hellish unstable & can cause a great deal of discomfort. before each 12hr dose can be so uncomfortable, painfull & downright nasty; If only they made it last just a bit longer than 12hrs though i can see why they don't in case of od.. nightmare but essential sadly
No but they are both opiates. Morphine is chemicaly altered and turned heroin. They are opiates but the reason heroine is illegal as compared to morphine is the fact that there is no medical use for the drug. If heroin was taken by mouth it would be metabolized to morphine. When injected it has better penetration to the brain by not being precessed by the liver.
@drvertigo heroin is processed through the liver all opiates are and heroin has the same medical use as morphine all it is it diamorphine or (2x) morphine by weight.

i was hospitalized yesterday bcuz of a serious chronic illness i have which causes pain...i was surprised that they were so willingly to give me dilaudid..to some people this would be fine because it gets rid of your pain fast...but in my case im pregnant..so for them to be able to give it to me without question surprised me..then they told me that this wouldnt hurt the baby...well if that wouldnt hurt the baby why would all these other drugs be different???...

@CNSagent You're right. But some forms of opiods have more Euphoric and pleasurable effects. Morphine and Heroin are pretty much the same drug (one is just stronger mg for mg). At one time, they actually used heroin as a cough suppressant and to help aid Morphine addicts slowly withdraw from the drug. That worked out just swell!! Then there's Methadone for the treatment of Heroin addiction lol. Bull shit. It's just as addicting. These drugs along with Oxycontin are probably the most addictive.

By the way, "OxyContin" is a brand name. The opioid agonist is oxycodone. Oxymorphone and hydromorphone are also quite potent opioid agonists which essentially pose a high potential addiction, abuse and dependence. Four mg alprazolam is actually equal to around 80mg diazepam.

Vicodin, Percocet, Tylenol 1-4 are basically pain killers that work like otc shit (prostaglandins), and are simply spiked with loads of hydrocodone, codeine, and oxycodone. I thought Oxycontin (oxycodone) does not contain any acetaphinophen? I think 4mg's of Xanax is equal to only 40mg's of Valium but I'll check it out. Thanks.

To my knowledge, 4mg alprazolam (Xanax) is equivalent to 80mg diazepam (Valium).

EXCEPT Tylenol 2, 3 & 4. Codeine is a prodrug and without it, it would be virtually useless. Tylenol's also not an Nsaid, for anyone that cares. =p lol (Also, 2mg Xanax= 80mg Valium TECHNIQUELLY. @madpaintbalerx Yes it is. Basically, heroin, which is a control 1 drug listed with no medical use is the same thing but it's more potent. Valium for instance. You can take 4mg of Xanax as opposed to 40mg's of Valium and get the same exact effect. Not to mention, by the time heroin breaks the blood/brain barrier, and its Euphoric effect "kicks in" it has already changed its molecular structure back into Morphine.I wish i could highlight that because not to many people realize it. Hey everyone, I too am an opiate addict. I was using IV heroin everyday for over 4 years. I got on suboxone at first without insurance and had to pay $7 per pill for 90 pills per month plus Dr. fees, which was more than $500 a month just to stay clean. Morphine was used in WWII, and WWI for pain. Yes it was used to remove pain, and yes a lot of soldiers did die when Morphine was administered, but not from the Morphine, but from the severe wounds. With out the morphine, the Soldiers would have died in agony and in many cases given away the location of troops to the enemy, from the screaming and thrashing about.

If it wasn't for morphine, they would of never discovered other pain killers from Oxycodone to Hydrocodone.Now we have pain killers for weak pain(codein,darvocet,tramadol), for moderate pain(hydrocodone), and for severe pain(Dilauded,Morphine,Oxycodone). We have it for short term pain and flair ups(Oxycodone IR) and long term pain(Oxycontin,MS Contin). I am aware of the destruction opiates have caused.

Doctors in America are so fuckin scared by the FDA and DEA that it is impossible to even be perscribed m/s contin anymore even for people who really need it. I was on 200 mg of m/s contin for over 10 years 100mg twice a day for cronic pain then they switched me to 100 mg methadone and over 2 1/2 years weaned me off. Today it is misreable. You know, don't forget that codiene is metabolized into morphine via CYP2D6 which is where the analgesic properties come from but genetics will dictate slow or fast metabolism of the drug. Do you know which CYP metabolizes heroin? Does it deliver morphine differently? I mean it seems kind of stupid if it possess no benefit from straight morphine? Educate me on this.

@mdelair420 Sorry to hear about the pain problems. Yes we can all build tolerance to the opiates but I guess the federal government decided the addictive properties were too strong in comparison to its medicinal qualities... esp. if injected.
Also, I looked at some of my resources and fentanyl is available as a buccal tablet that is placed in the buccal cavity. Normal GI absorption must be or poor unpredictable since there is no real tablet form of the drug but I will look more into it.

@1500Percent. By law here the the United States heroin does NOT have the same medical use, its a schedule I narcotic. In the UK it IS sold as a pain releif medication as an oral tablet but I don't know the laws there so I can't comment. The fact is with heroin, the route of administration, the pharrmacokinetics, and the laws that dictate its use and if its considered to have a medical use of not.

Here, in the US, Morphine used to be available in hypodermic soluble tabs for @$10/0.5 grain in '69, Dilaudid a dollar a milligram. Numorphan (Endo) was the best. Readily soluble, beautiful blue color. I'm old and recall the days of thew French COnnection heroin. Why can't they legalize this and stop the damage seen on this site? Too logical, I guess. Sorry to butt in but Heroin IS used medicinally. As i said im a pain patient.. It is used in a clinical context and known as Diamorphine, only given to terminal patients as of the obvious addictive potential. Its used I.V and isnt often used. Its also available on script in the U.K for long term addicts. I was in talks with my pain clinic about switching to Hydromorphone (Dilaudid) and changing my SR meds from fentanyl to Palladone SR but here in the UK palladones hardly ever used.

@mdelair420. Fentanyl is not delivered as a pill and yes the patch can kill because of its very slow absortion and changes in absorption depending on the situtation. If you overdose on a patch it takes 17 hours to leave your system. It a whole different animal.

i have a double herniated spinal column (l4/l5) and a torn disc with degenerative disc disease.. had five back operations. Im in the UK ive been using oxycodone and fentanyl for 3 years and prior to this i was on oral morphine (ora morph) i can honestly say these medications have SAVED my life. The amount of shit i go through to get the oxycodone is HELL! but its a CD (controlled drug) for a reason. all ill say is if you dont have chronic pain DONT use it. withdrawals are VILE VILE VILE

Hmm in the UK - Morphine is prescribed only under very special circumstances, and they would certainly not give you a quanity in tablet or liquid form - a nurse has to visit you and administer each dose.
This is for extreme circumstances like cancer after chemo.
And ladym - just don't lol - I've had a hint of this in the form of opium tea - it is highly addictive even in this weakened format....

No but they are both opiates. Morphine is chemicaly altered and turned heroin. They are opiates but the reason heroine is illegal as compared to morphine is the fact that there is no medical use for the drug. If heroin was taken by mouth it would be metabolized to morphine. When injected it has better penetration to the brain by not being precessed by the liver.

@drvertigo heroin is processed through the liver all opiates are and heroin has the same medical use as morphine all it is it diamorphine or (2x) morphine by weight.
