  • 'who fouls the air with the notes so sour'

  • Sinbad has them creatures punked.

  • This video went viral on Brasilia

  • thumbs up if you were supporting sinbad here

  • Sinbad: Wrech that ship!!... But bring me the woman..

    - The Big Vulture winks at Sinbad -

  • this fool pimped slapped not 1 but 2 lions!! hahahaha!

  • oh 42nd is in color!

  • Uldfgsnbungtlrbgjninno

  • my friend was talking about old cartoons and i was like "I gotta watch Popeye now!"

  • WRECK THAT SHIP!

  • One day I hope to do the entire "Sinbad the Sailor" song whenever im asked and get all my friends to shout when I recite that famed question. "Who's the most remarkable extraordinary fellow?"

  • Thumbs up if you're eating Popeye spinach while watching this = D

  • tvtropes brought me here

  • "The Irresistable Damsel"----Olive Oyl. I LOVE it!

  • @DiamondJoeC LOL! Good one!

  • What kind of accent does the two-headed giant have at 3:25(Spanish, Greek, Middle Eastern....?)

  • Nothing quite like getting up in the morning and bitch-slapping a pair of lions.

  • Hey, look at the cast card,

the characteristics are left, and the names are right, but

did you notice the rokh credit is backwards the others :I

  • Sinbad is exactly like Gaston in Disney's Beauty and the Beast. They're full of themselves and completely boastful. They have no idea what it is to be humble.

  • @kjordon1 At least this version of gaston has a more impressive kill count. Gaston is a weak little pussy compared to Bluto Sinbad.

  • @143AC...You couldn't be more true...Because of his advent of synchronized sound, Walt Disney was in the forefront of animation, and everyone else was trying to catch up, but Fleischer Studios sure gave them a run for their money at the time with the Popeye three-reelers...True animation fans remember Popeye; no one remembers "The Country Cousin."...Good call...

  • To JrFLYnnIV...Excellent video print...Keep up the great work...

  • This is the finest restored print of "Popeye the Sailor Meets Sindbad the Sailor" I've ever seen. This Technicolor three-reeler was released November 17,1936; Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." was released February 4, 1938. Check out the remainer of the trilogy, "Popeye the Sailor Meets Ali Baba's Forty Thieves" (1937), and "Aladdin and His Wonderful Lamp" (1939)...Ray Harryhausen cited this extended short subject as his inspiration for "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad" (1958)...

  • This is the first time I have ever seen the original cartoon restored to its original quality.

  • Nothing quite like getting up in the morning and singing about how big of a badass you are.

  • This video right here sums up my childhood. I think I'm going to watch cartoons forever.

  • Dee Bradley Baker- Popeye/ Boola

    Jason MArsden- Olive Oyl

    Tony Jay- Bluto/ Sinbad

Frank WElker- Wimpy, Lions, Snakes, Dragon, Rokh, Mokeys

  • Comment removed

  • @mrfuzzyhead948 More like Billy West as Popeye, and Gary Chalk (Popeye's Voyage) as Bluto/Sindbad.

  • You can watch both versions, original and restored, so the complaints about color is pointless.

  • @plastik892 But does the unrestored version has the paramount logo and titles?

  • @GeniusRKO39 No. It has the Paramount logo deleted and starts with the Popeye the Sailor scroll up to Sindbad the sailor.

  • @neoprankster Well, then i have an advice for them,

they should release a DVD or Blu-Ray with the paramount logo

and the unrestored colors, now that's the true ORIGINAL reel!

  • Hehe, I find that bit of Olive Oyl being the "Irresistible Damsel" a bit debatable.

  • where the pete did you find this in such good condition?

  • FAKE? Is that right? Funny, I never heard any a the EXPERTS make an accusation like that, corjonbett, smartguy, guess I should a checked with you first, maybe. In the future, when you don't know what you're talking about, like now, why not just keep your big yap shut? There's enough annoying noise in the world without you adding to everyone's misery.

  • Never seen this cartoon in its original form, but it great to see the original titles with the Paramount logo intact. AAP plastered on the opening and closing titles for TV because at the time, Paramount has no relation to TV when Desilu bought out until 1968 and became Paramount Televison.

  • This color "Popeye"movie cartoon was nominated for an Oscar for "Best Short Cartoon".."Believe It Or Else!?".

  • @143AC It should have won the Oscar, too. Instead, it went to Disney's "The Country Cousin", which is far less known than this cartoon.

  • This is FAKE. Somebody artificially changed the colors. Check the spot on Sindbad's chest. His clothes are supposed to be black, and so is Rokh, leading to obvious errors. Nice try but no banana..

  • @corjonbett who cares it looks good

  • @32middlelinebacker Don't Tell That to him!

he's right!! That's what i hate about restorations!

they remove the sense of the vintage coloring art!! XO

  • @GeniusRKO39 touche...but thats why i have them all on vhs!!! muahahahaaaa thats why i like these so much...alot of contrast

  • 4:24 Eeeeeeeeeek!!!

  • Who dares to challenge Sinbad's power? Well your busted up telescope for one.

  • Academy Award Nominated Cartoon

  • @hackensac It lost to the Disney cartoon "Country Cousin". But this is still good. :) At least it was nominated for the award. Nominees are as good as winners, in my opinion.

  • I love the music from the Popeye cartoons. :) It's as memorable to me as Disney tunes.

  • Keep in mind that this was released a year before Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". This is almost like a preview of what was to come. It got people ready to see the first animated feature. :)

  • I bet when this came out people were like oh my god It's in colour so fucking awesome :)

  • @sammartin17121993 You're probably right. This cartoon is amazing for its time.

  • the backgrounds, the asides from our hero, the helpless feminine giggling..... oh, oh, oh

  • I'm a-fraid of nobody under the tongue!

All I say is "BOO!" and my enemies run!

Interesting note is that Popeye remembers Sindbad as the greatest sailor ever even after cleaning his clock, see "Big bad Sindbad"!

  • There's A Re-Dubbed Version Of This Cartoon

    Brian Doyle-Murray-Popeye (Speaking Voice)

Jess Harnell-Popeye (Singing Of Scatting Voice)

    Maurice LaMarce-Popeye (Laugh)

    Nancy Cartwright-Olive Oyl

    Jim Cummings-Bluto/Sindbad, Wimpy

Frank Welker-Boola, Rokh, Lions, Various Animal Vocal Effects

  • Jesus this cartoon is beautiful

  • It's the restored version, isn't it? Thanks for the wonderful post!

  • At 4:33 The begining my favorite part !

At 5:48 The buzzard flies like a plane !

I love the classic cartoons ! Popeye is one of my favorite cartoon characters !

  • I think that's the greatest Popeye cartoon ! Thank's for upload ( especially for the original titles and a good quality !)

  • thanks!!! look forward to seeing ali baba too(my favorite 2reel special)!

  • Thank you so much for posting this! This is by far the best Popeye cartoon ever made!!!

  • popeyes THE man!! thanks bud!!!!!
