  • very nice wish we could keep reds over here on the east coast of the US catching some big ones on the head boat i work on and it kills me that we gotta throw em back

  • ya estaba cansado de pescar y nos fuimos temprano que manera de cojer pargos

  • sweet mate i understand that. il giv u a call in a couple of weeks and arrange a booking

thanx mate. is it hard to get on ur boat r u bookd out alot?

  • wen i move up & if i jump on ur charter r u guys like guides will u teach us were to fish and show us good spots or do u keep ur spots quite?

  • Unfortunately our spots are our business, and you'll find most boaties will guard there fishing marks quite strongly. There is alot of great info and content, Fish finder views, rigs and baits, lures which will put you on the right track, Good luck

    Cheers Greg

  • im moving to mackay in 2 weeks mate how often in the year is the fishing good mate.?

  • Check out some of our fishing videos, but spoilt with some awesome fishing all year round, Only problem is the weather and big distances, but that also keeps it great,

    Cheers Greg

  • 3:40 :S What this ?

  • That's there stomach, being expelled from the difference in pressure, Barotrauma, the Nannygai suffer pretty badly from it,

    Cheers Greg

  • Thats some nice reds !

  • Some fishing Kaos alright!! Some of the best fishing I've seen and we left them biting,

    cheers Greg

  • are these fish a breed of bass?

  • IN Australia, I think there similar to america's Red snapper? they're a member or the Lutjanid family, Top fish and great eating,

    Cheers Greg

  • @Reefari this reminds me of how we fish in the arabian gulf, with just a weight hook and line, when the video starts looks something like that. What type of hook and line do you use and bait? We have red snapper but i want to learn how to consistently get them like you guys.

  • Check out some of our other videos, Plenty of good videos which show the Paternoster rig, Bait(Squid, Pilchard & Fresh flesh) and some good fish finder video as well what we look for. Just do a Youtube search for the previous, or go through our channel. We fish about 50m of water and small very remote isolated shoals and rubbly patches. A good Furuno FCV 585 sounder helps as well. Good luck,

    Cheers Greg

  • I loved to fish, but i gave it up after discovering that many fish was more intelligent than the people fishing. they are really complex creatures, and deserves much more respect.

  • Who ISNT going fishing after watching this video?

  • whats that thing that pops out the fish mouth at 3:41

  • That's the stomach, with the pressure from bringing them up from 50metres affects there swim bladder. The Nannygai suffer Barotrauma, and don't release well unfortunately,

    Cheers Greg

  • @Reefari ahhh ok thanx i was wondering why on another video the same thing was happening and i was like that's weird they don't seem to be flapping around once they get on the boat LOOL cool vid !

  • @macasdude Air bladder

  • @macasdude it is its penis.. ahaha ;)

  • that Red Emperor was pretty inpresive good on ya

  • Was a good one, about 7.5kg if I remember correctly, amongst a heap of Nannygai!!

    Cheers Greg

  • Nice' i love deep sea fishing as well as watching videos. makes for a great day when the seas are calm and the fish are biting.

  • Awesome day and awesome reef fishing!! Almost the perfect day, top video!!

    Cheers Greg

  • @Reefari Nice job on the vid...but I wouldn't say that was almost perfect...it was perfect!!! Congrats!

  • Was a top day reef fishing and glad I got it on video, Check out some of our other videos as well, some good stuff, and tight lines!!

    Cheers Greg

  • "just had an 8 way hookup" woah didnt need to know that! ;)

  • they sound like the seagulls from Nemo!!

  • There is just nothing better than flat seas and a full cooler. Great video!

  • Sorry for the elementary questions, but does Australia/New Zealand have fish limit laws like we do here in California?

  • We definately do in Australia, Some states have fish licences, but we have strict bag and size limits on most fish. We also have 35% of the Great Barrier Reef closed to fishing, which is a massive area when the reef is 2000 kilometres long. But this does keep the fishing sustainable and good.

    Cheers Greg

  • great stuff! subbed

  • Thanks, was the perfect day!! Awesome fishing

    Cheers Greg

  • This show is really cool,

  • Heaps more great videos, check out some of our others on the Great Barrier reef,

    Cheers Greg

  • this show I

  • you have some great waters!

  • Pretty spoilt on the Great Barrier Reef with great fishing and boating, The weather was perfect that day, although it's not like that all the time unfortunately, today is 25 - 30 knots, so does make those days special, glad I got in on video!!

    Cheers Greg

  • Thanks, Some good reef fishing off Fraser Island and some big Red Emperor, about the best we've got is 15kg's and plenty of Nannygai up to 13 Kilo's, Plenty of cod too,

    Cheers Greg

  • I once caught a 25 kilo cod, then the very next drop got a 22 kilo red, we didnt get as many quality fish as this video, but the 2 I got in 2 drops blew me away!! It was off fraser island, in case you are wondering!! Well done fellas!!

  • nice catch wat bait were u usin

  • Check out our best bait video, but the normal Squid, Pilchards and flesh baits,

    Cheers Greg

  • i think you better change the category from sports to GREED. Well done Greg cheers jiggy

  • It was a phenomenal day, Great video and weather, and we left them biting, and must admit we do limit our catch with none wasted. Unwanted fish are all released. We were still well under fishing regulations and Catch limits, with 35 % of the Great Barrier reef protected as Green zones, no fishing, which makes for even better reef fishing. No complaints and plenty of great fishing if you know where to go,

    Cheers Greg

  • nice :)

  • Perfect Day, awesome fishing, reef fishing doesn't get any better, and we had to stop fishing because we caught too much,

    Cheers Greg

  • kill as many as you can while staying in the regs. ITS YOUR RIGHT!

  • Before the Greenies completely ban fishing if they could!! Fishing is a great way of life, and most people who fish love fish and release as well,

    Cheers Greg

  • @fishfish2277 ..Its your right..to kill as many as you can..if your selling them or eating them

  • do the kill them ?

  • If you don't like reef fishing videos, don't watch them, and if you eat fish, where do you think they come from. No fish are wasted, and all fishing regulations observed, and we left them biting, could of caught heaps more. 35% of the Reef is no fishing and we have some of the toughest bag limits and reef closures in the world. It was an insane day and some awesome fishing,

    Cheers Greg

  • @Reefari 1 thing i don't eet fish :p i dont say is wrong i only ask of the killd them jesus wtf

  • wow, great snappers, here in California we don't get those , nice work.

  • Some awesome reef fishing and great fish, we call them Nannygai in Australia, Caught a heap again on the Weekend and some nice Red Emperor, check these videos out, but must be similar/Same? as your snapper?

    Cheers Greg

  • not being funny but do eight or so so called anglers need that many fish!

  • Alot of fish, but still under our bag limits, and none were wasted, we stopped and left them biting

    cheers Greg

  • @Reefari fair enough mate.........

  • Greg,

you're not going to let me know what kind of bait you were using that day??

  • Sorry, we use a mix of Fresh flesh, Squid and pilchards when reef fishing. Great for all your reef fish.

Do a Youtube search of our recent video,

Fishing Tips - What's the best bait to use when Reef fishing

Good video which shows our bait board, Always try and use some flesh, best bait,

    Cheers Greg

  • we use hand lines here in Barbados but we usually hook them in 2-6 hundred feet of water; of course at that depth a rod will bend too much. when fish are hooked so deep and brought to the surface that quickly they get the 'bends literally and would eventually swell up and float to the surface making it a lot easier to haul. may i ask what kind of bait you were using?

  • Sounds like hard work in that depth with handlines, we're fishing about 50 metres. The Nannygai don't do to well from that depth to release with the Barotrauma as well, but they're good eating, so none wasted,

    cheers Greg

  • How many Catch and release??

  • We released all under sized fish, and unwanted ones. We were well under our bag limits, and we left them biting, Awesome fishing video and no fish were wasted. We have some of the toughest bag limits, closed seasons and 35% of the Great Barrier Reef is closed to fishing. Spoilt with plenty of great fishing, was a special day.

    cheers Greg

  • fudido

  • any fish that weighs more than 5 pounds is a good fight in that type of water. the pressure of the water is great.

  • This is fishing the deep reefs and shoals in 50metres of water, and definately take some pulling. Most were Nannygai averaging 10 to 12 pound, or 5 to 6 kilos, top fish and a top day out, Awesome Video and one of my best days yet.

    cheers Greg

  • too many blokes on the boat, awesome action but, need to get out THERE..........

  • An awesome day, awesome fishing, check out our mothershipping videos as well

    Cheers Greg

    Cheers Greg

    Cheers Greg

  • Just wondering if you use pilchards as bait or other types of bait fish?

Also, is squid an effective bait or not?

I'm headin out late September and some extra info would be appreciated!!

    Thanks mate

  • We use Pilchards, Squid and flesh baits, pay to have a good mix for Reef fish, Check out our paternoster video and with a couple of hooks can mix and match a bit, and good luck reef fishing,

    Cheers Greg

  • @Reefari Thanks mate. Its really good of you to share the information that you do, there should be more fisherman like yourself. They say knowledge isn't knowledge unless you can share it!!

  • looks like great fishing there, I only wish it was me out on the boat catching those fish lol

  • Was top fishing and weather, also some great mothershipping videos coming soon as well,

    cheers Greg

  • so I hear the great Barrier reef is fucked from over fishing the lobsters, apparently they keep this other creature from killing of the coral, I hope something is being done about this cause I would hate to see it gone and all the fishing fucked

  • Haven't heard of that problem. Reef is well managed, and well protected, 35% of the Great Barrier reef is Green with no fishing, no take, We go to some remote parts of the Great Barrier Reef and is in excellant condition, and heaps of great fishing, Tough bag and size limits apply as well, so I believe the Reef will be great for years,

    Cheers Greg

  • Bag limit is now 5 per person fishing

  • In Queensland, just checked, Crimson seaperch (small mouth nannygai) and saddletail snapper (large mouth nannygai), are 9 combined and 40cm size, which comes under 20 fish per person for Coral reef fin species,

    Cheers Greg

  • Don't worry none was wasted, and all eaten of course, top catch, top weather and an awesome day fishing!! Glad I got it on Video,

    Cheers Greg

  • @bigfoxx7777 eat em dickhead!

  • 8:32 HOLY SHIT!!!! and wat did u guysdo with ALL that fish?

  • absolutely BEAUTIFUL fish. looks likes some good dinner :)

  • Great fishing video and even better eating, you gotta love reef fish!! and a great feed as well, LOL!! Was a phenomenal day weather and fishing wise,

    Cheers Greg

  • whats that thing that came out of the fishes mouth at 3:40

  • That would be the stomach, as there air bladder inflates due to the air pressure difference when we pull them up from 50 metres deep. Called Barotrauma, very hard to release these fish, although great for the table, We find them on deep reefs and shoals fishing in the shipping Channel off Mackay,

    Cheers Greg

  • @Reefari If you wanted to release Barotrauma affected fish you have to use a large hypodermic needle and lift the right side pectoral fin and let the air out by inserting the needle into the bladder and letting out the gas. this is a old method we use when catching big black sea bass which were a protected and endangered fish in California...I have used it many times and it always worked for us.. Like your vids ,keep it up and( keep a wet line and a bent rod..)

  • Thanks, Have tried this technique as well, but Nannygai (snapper) seem to be sensitive, and you'll also see the eyes extend as well and unfortunately no hope. Great eating so we're happy to keep them. It's the big cod which are hard to release, plus big breeders as well. More great videos coming, and some bent rods alright

    Cheers Greg

  • a fish's stomach doesn't come out. i think the thing coming out the mouth is his bait

  • @hmongkid12 definitely not the bait, it's the air bladder that expands with the change in pressure.

    Nice video

  • how old do i have to be to get a fishing licence?? im 14 and i live in canada toronto ontario

  • Not sure on Canada for fishing licence's, No need for one in Australia, Great fishing on the reef, but we do pay a reef tax on commercial vessel's.

    Cheers Greg

  • coming up tomorrow from sydney bringin the rods but will prob just fish from the beach! good fishin guys but really did you need to kill em all? do they freeze well?

  • Some great fishing in Mackay even off the beach. Was an exceptional day, and we do limit our catch from then on and release unwanted fish, Still well under bag limits for the Reef, and top eating reef fish, freeze well, no problems,

    Cheers Greg

  • thats a huge gold fish what you catch it with

  • Checkout our Paternoster rig video, but most are TLD 20's with 50lb Braid, Top fishing and we call them largemouth Nannygai, Insane day out for sure,

    Cheers Greg

    Cheers Greg

  • @Reefari ohhh yeah i have seen your boat, we are from the sunnycoast but moving up to mackay due to work, we have a 10m comercial nustar cat. might see your boat afair bit sooon haha. but again awesome fishing

  • Check out our video's but the best fishing off Mackay, and Cat's are awesome up here, plenty of chop, but no swell,

    Cheers Greg

  • @Reefari yeah the fishing up there is just insaine, awesome how you captured it all. yeah pleanty of swell down here, there has been 1 week of good weather since the start of the year. In mid january we were crosing the wide bay bar in a 5m easterly swell and copped 3 6m greenies over the bow and 45-50knots of wind no joke but the cat thought it was play time, handled so well, awesome sea boats

  • can you catch nannygai in the US

  • Not sure, they go by a variety of names in Australia, yet may be similar to your snapper? or similar names elsewhere, check out the videos on Youtube, as I have seen similar around some oil rigs? Great fish to catch, and great eating too,

    Cheers Greg

  • WHAT LURES YOU USED ?

  • Just bait in this fishing video, when reef fishing, we do use lures for mackerel and Giant Trevally, tuna and trolling the reef, Check out our channel, and search Youtube for "My Alltime favourite lures" this video has all of my favourites and the best lure fors fishing the Great Barrier Reef, More good videos coming soon with a lure showdown,
