You state that this effort is produce a novella. That's wrong. A novella is one term among several that have been used over the years to refer to fiction that is longer than a short story but shorter than a novel. The SFWA/Nebula Award criteria defines a novella as 17,500 to 39,999 words. A novel is a long piece of fiction. The actual length can vary greatly, but the SFWA/Nebula Award criteria specifies a length of 40,000 words and up.

I saw this video on the nanowrimo website. I like its peppy, happy tone and the visual inserts. I'm REALLY impressed by your mention of "Gadsby". I've known about this novel for years and have it on my book wishlist. But it's out of print so I'm out of luck. (I'm a book nerd which is the reason I got involved in nanowrimo.) So your video is a real winner and extra points for mentioning an obscure literary work.
