  • That's a great idea about using the cloth store bags! I use them for everything including lugging groceries. Good luck with gardening in them, and let us know how they worked for you. Thanks for posting!

  • The 99cent cloth grocery bags available at the stores now make really good planters. I am 15 months in a black one with a mix of flowers that are wintered in doors. It is great and the handle is still very secure. It is black and just starting to show slight water signs. we have terrible water here so that really surprised me. xoxo

  • Great idea, terrible techno music.

  • @Xochitlgarden

Thanks, and yeah the techno just happened to match the length of the video, lol.

  • excellent

  • How many seed potatos are youusing in each bag? With a bag the size you describe you should be using between 3 and 5 eyes per bag. I have used above ground potato planting methods for many years and get 10 to 15 pounds per bag

  • I used 2-3 seed potato portions per bag, with at least one good 'eye' each. Sounds like you have a great harvest. Please feel free to post some of your pictures!

  • Yes I'd like results too. Also why you need to use weed barrier; wonder whether plastic bags with holes wouldn't work just as well. But what I really want to know is how well they produced. I'm ready to vote for you when I get that answer!

  • I harvested approximately 1-3/8 pounds (0.63 kg) of red potatoes per Tater Tote.

I harvested twice from 4 of the Totes and kept the plants intact for a second harvest, but chopped them back to within 18" of the Tote because they shaded the sun from other plants.

  • so how many potatoes did u get? please up date.
