I watch this video when I'm sad and when I'm happy. Sometimes I watch it when I want to learn. I think this is a great video that shows a lot about Zebras and how they live and what they do in reality when we're not watching them. My goal is to someday have a zebra farm and to ride a zebra. Sometimes I play a game where I think that I'm a zebra and that humans (other people) are trying to read my thoughts with their brain powers but they can't because my zebra thoughts are too strong for them

@Llamalover38 Most Zebras are white with black stripes (as these are), though there are some subspecies where that's reversed. All you have to do is look at their belly or backside to see what their base color is.

@Starscreamsfan4ever There are 3 zebra species: Plains Zebra, Mountain Zebra & Grevy's Zebra, but there are also variations on those themes, Plains Zebra having 5 surviving subspecies (a sixth one--Quagga--went extinct at the beginning of the last century) & Mountain Zebra having 2 subspecies. Plus, to confuse matters further, there are variations among the subspecies in which some have reversed stripe patterns or other stripe anomalies.

Very few Zebras can be ridden. They are naturally very aggressive. Some Zebras have been raised and trained for riding, or pulling carts;but it's not worth the effort. They are wonderful animals, but very dangerous. It's not practical to try to use them as we use horses.

I loved them too. I just wish ours were friendlier. They were so skittish, I could barely photograph them even when feeding them. Part of the problem was their pen was on the end of a penisula, and thus they had virtually no contact with people.

A couple of the head on shots really showed the uniqueness of their markings. Great stuff. As a rider, I didn't notice much of a wither on those guys - would be cool to have one for riding (some people up the road do), but no wither and a spunky attitude don't add to the "Staying on" feature. Great job!

I've riden one of our younger giraffes (hard to get up on and even harder to stay on), but I would've never tried that with our zebra even if they had let me get that close. They were regular spitfires, kicking and biting and bucking if you even looked at them wrong. --I think about the only way you can ride one is if you've bottle raised it or at least started working with it very early and consistently. --Thanks for your input. :)

You're right. Most of the time my pictures of them were of their blurred out backsides running away from me. :( They have a lot of spunk; they're very much free spirits.

Our zebras didn't really like people very much. :( They usually kept some distance between us, so I was never photographed with them. The only way I could get their picture usually was while feeding them. In some of the photos you can see their hay and grain at their feet.

Thanks for noticing. I really tried hard not to get any fencing in the pictures. Plus, it was more of a wild animal park, than a zoo. Most of the pens were very large, had a lot of natural vegetation, and were three-sided, with the open side facing the river where people could view the animals. The pictures with less vegetation in them are from other zoos around the country.
