  • Howdy

this is reason the 60's and 70s had the best music

    because the music was real

    thanks for sharing this

    stay cool

    Rich

  • @1958wvpicker-Ditto!!!!

  • Wow! I've never heard this one before. It's rare to hear a song so immediately likeable and well written. Very cool. I need his record in my collection.

  • In a couple weeks this album & Through The Morning are being reissued in a remastered edition on CD & vinyl.

  • @5737irvingpark are there bonus tracks???

  • @ejectorerector Yes. "Why Not Your Baby", "Lyin' Down the Middle" and "Don't be Cruel" have all been added to this album as bonus tracks, both on the latest release of Fantastic Expedition and also on the expanded two-in-one release of Fantastic Expedition and Through the Morning, Through the Night.

  • Two people dislike this???

  • I hope, wherever he is, Gene Clark knows how much folks love his music.

  • Thanks, man.

  • It's so nice to hear this again. I wish I could find this album (or even CD) somewhere.

  • One of my all time favorite albums. Timeless! Thanks Gene & Doug.

  • It's easy to see why the Eagles used Bernie Leadon for their lead vocal on this cover. I think his voice is actually kind of similar to Gene's. It's common on country rock videos for commenters to be tough on the Eagles, but I think both versions are great. However, Dillard and Clark should be much more popular than it is; I only discovered them on YouTube. "In The Plan" is a great song, my favorite of there's along with "Through the Morning Through the Night.".

  • To all you people posting all of this. GOD BLESS YOU for real

  • @duk9091 You are welcome. That is why we do this.

  • Many albums are classed as timeless but this one ticks all the boxes

    "what i might be on"

    Jim

  • THE best version of a great song - bar none.

  • thanks a million this 1320 N. Columbus was the number I had written my sleeve.

  • Thanks for uploading & the Pics. I am on a Bernie Leadon expedition, I have always loved his work.

  • "In the plan" starts at 3:51

  • The Fantastic Unbeleivable Incomparable Amazing Expedition....what a great record

  • I love every kind of music,,,,but the Fantastic Expidition is a marvel

    Jim

  • I absolutely love this record, it is a magestic wonder to the ears that never fails to give me the utmost pleasure-genius.

  • Some vintage vinyl in these pics. Gene was a great writer and artist for sure.

  • played the crap out of this record

  • me too - got hooked on D&C, the Dillards, and Gene Clark's solo stuff from this amazing record. consistently brilliant. this song especially lays me out.

  • cant find a download only the eagles version and that one sucks

  • @phildirt3 Maybe I shouldn't be commenting here, given that I haven't heard the Eagles version. But given their version of a Tom Waits song I heard(ole' 55) and their arrangements and sound, I think you are probably right. The Eagles tend to do things too slickly.

  • @ivycompton me too- heard it by chance and bought everything, this is up there as an outright classic,

  • wondeful x

  • Awesome ! 2 ...5 star songs.

  • My hero!! Magic stuff

  • Beautiful song!

  • Gene is the man!!

  • a bunch of great musicians making a great record..what more could we want?

    Jim

  • this brings back good memories - thanks for this! +5!

  • The world was wild and wicked back then too, but some of us could still stop long enough to smell the roses. Man, in retrospect they smelled nearly as amazing then as they do now. The good stuff always has excellent shelf life. That's what makes it good.

  • Omigod - one of the masterpieces from this incomparable LP. Thank you so much for posting.

  • Its all about the music IC

  • i had two copies of this i played it so much

  • The re-issue of this fine tune was just listed as on of the top ten best of 2008 by KALX dj Meaty Paws...well, look who just got hip... /;>)

  • Where is KALX?

  • UC Berkeley---small signal but lots of listeners. They are on-line too

  • Again, a trip through memorylane, makes me a little melancholic, but man, do I like this one.

Thanks for posting this beautiful song. I think I was 14 orso when I first heard this one. Gives me a realy good feeling.

  • It does seem to be out of whak with todays pace. Life was so much more slower when we were younger.

    Glad that you enjoy this.

  • FLH

    Vocally and instrumentally awesome

    Jim

  • Enjoy Jim. Thats why its here.

  • This album is still one of my favorites. I bought this album, The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard and Clark in 1971, and it still sounds great.

    Thanks!
