The fact of the matter is, there's probly less than $10k invested in that miata, including the origional purchase of the car. At that price point, its very respectable, not to mention it will out corner the benz roadster hands down.

For ur own education: A roadster is meant to stir your soul with dynamic open-top driving mainly axed on handling. The mx-5 is a car modeled after what is arguably the purest roadster of all time, the Lotus Elan. Also, it's Britain's favorite roadster 2day, and they invented this type of vehicles.

to each their own. I wanted a facelifted NC (2009) mx-5 2.0 sport (GT for north america) but I finally went for something totally different and faster and also more affordable... You never plan what you buy i think until you try it out and fall in love with it.

That's really not true at all...911s are known for being one of the few cars that can understeer and oversteer, all in the same corner. Having so much of the weight over the rear wheels really isn't a good thing. Boxters and Caymans have good weight balance, and therefore can out-handle 911s-but give a Miata the same grade tires and equivalent suspension, and the Miata won't lose. It's lighter and more nimble.

@grummblecakes The reason why a miata doesnt have the same grade tires and suspensions or anything at all of the same level is because porsche is porsche and mazda is mazda. I love the little mx-5, i wanted one a while back, but get serious. A porsche is engineered to perfection. And the weight balance argument is no longe a valid one because the sheer mechanical grip on a 911 is fabulous (ever driven one? if not i rly suggest u do!)

You have named some very crummy roadsters in that list. And the only "pure" ones are the BMW Zs, the Shelby, the Alfa and the Lotus.If you wanted to point out a really good roadster you shld have said boxster. And comparing an MX-5 to a smart roadster is like comparing a CLK to a pontiac sunfire. You REALLY need to wake up and realise what driving is all about man!!!

Now thats a good point, the porshe Boxster, designed purely to compete with the Miata/mx5 as a cheap fun roadster. Still don't think it manages even today.

i own an elise + miata. i can honestly say i prefer driving the miata. The elise is awsome but the miata is better for the fact its less serious.

The miata engine/drivetrain is bombproof and it is great for grip AND drift driving.

The elise is shit to work on/parts cost a lot, the miata has lots of cheap parts, turbo kits, suspension etc etc etc

lets not even get started on climbing into the elise, the roof leak (standard), or the road noise, blah blah cant even be bothered to continue

Ok, I don`t own a miata but you have to stop buying cars on the 'typical of a hillbillie' image you have of them. Heck you probably thing pick-up trucks are cool. Miata is the quintessential roadster of our times. It embodies things you do not even know exist. I suggest you sell your retiree CLK (because that is the image it has you know) and get yourself a proper sportscar, or, you could just stop commenting on subjects you know nothing about. thank you.
