  • i came here from instructables (dot) com .. DIY 1000 watt wind turbine ... xD

  • cool

  • I enjoyed watching this one.

  • Hello, Liked the video. On Earth Day I won a green design contest for my home energy system the RoofMill. Have a look at my home wind turbine videos of installing and running Hybrid Energy Systems. Friends and Subscribers Wanted. Later ,

    Peace, Sam

  • Hello, I am unfamiliar with the wye connection that they are using. I have googled it with little success on an understandable explanation. Could someone explain it to me? It sounds like the just connected the wiring of every 3rd coil and then put that into series with each other? ex. bundle 1, then 2, then 3? Is that really all there is to it? I am making a wind turbine right now. Any help would be appreciated.

  • @marine4hire The three phases are connected, but not in series, just together at one end. the other ends of each phase are brought down to a 3 phase rectifier. More information on our website (in the description).

  • i haven't seen anything about this show since this season aired. they never repeated them and after seeing the 'conspiracy theory' episode on global warming i know why. cleaning the air is way too easy, and there's too much money to be made on endless research and carbon trading. this show showed too much D.I.Y. stuff that the establishment had it pulled off the air.

  • It's been rerun at least 20 times since on discovery and hgtv channels. Just recently again in the last 2 months.

  • what are the specs on the rectifying diode and where can i get it

  • 400 piv, 100 amp, email me for particulars.

  • That's not what rare earth means. rare earth elements are the elements with atomic numbers 57 through 71. The lanthanide series. Neodymium is 60

  • LOL, hey Steve I just read the previous post and it made me giggle, I meant to tell you congrats on the Invention Nation spot it was pretty kool to see you and Jim on Planet Green but you should have gotten more face time. Good luck to you and hope Green-Trust and Woodhenge all the best.

  • wait what? did he just say "rare earth magnets"? thats not very sustainable is it

  • why not?

  • well if theyre rare that implies theyre non-renuable. so he is using up a resource and thats therefore not sustainable

  • It's about as common as copper.

  • just FYI - Rare earth magnets can be salvaged from some electronics like ... hard drives. They're smaller, but there

  • A couple of questions...how do you determine the voltage? Is it a function of turns per coil or RPM or both? Also if a helical turbine were used and the PMG were mounted in a horizontal arrangement, would that affect it much?

  • turns per coil mostly. rpm yes, but battery voltage holds the output. as the amps flow, battery voltage slowly increase.

  • those magnets look expensive aren't they?

  • Nope! Uber-strong Neodymium magnets are actually pretty cheap!

  • Really inspiring, although I'll probably use just a simple DC motor for my first turbine. Do you have more comprehensive details on the method to make the alternator?

  • Hey, I'm trying to find the book that the guy wrote about recycling. I'm really into stuff like that alot. and I would like to buy his book simply because here in San Antonio, TX, there are trash piles that people make so the city can throw out. I love going through those piles for nifty junk. but I can't do it with out a truck and with out a how to manual to make that junk useful. Please help

  • have you found the book yet ,i would like to have one as well. im a bit of a packrat...

  • You have to get it directly through him. At least that's what a letter from him to some guy said (the some guy posted it in a few forums)

I'll PM you the Author's email and the page that I found the info on k? ^_^

  • You guys are great. I just read your instuction pages . Why didnt they show off your solar cells on the show.

  • Because we didn't make them, and we only had a 15 minute segment. They shot over 8 hours of video, but only showed 15 minutes.

  • I just watched a 1 or 2 hour show about mirrors in space and covering a glacier with a sheet. Compared to that other wacked bullshit on TV you deserve like a whole month to show your full system.

  • its so funny that at the very end they use this HUGE fan turbine to power this small fan. nonetheless its a good way to make electricity.

  • It was the only 12v device they had on hand to test, but the irony is not lost on me :-)

  • isn't it also funny that they don't go into FULL DETAIL how to make the turbine so WE THE PEOPLE CAN ACTUALLY KILL 'THE ESTABLISHMENT' TOMORROW?
