  • If you read this joke of a "Net Neutrality bill" you would find that it's anything but neutral. It's a Government take over of the net with Google as it's lap dog...DuckDuck Go solves your google problems....

  • Fuck net neutrality

  • o KURWA

  • @TheNidege Fuck you, bot.

  • Fuck you google is perfect in everyway shape and form

  • Funny how Google has done a complete 100% about-face since putting out this video.

  • lol i remeber when i was in this commercial i was the little kid and at the time i was 10 and am now 15. aA the time i didnt understand what the ad was for but now that i am older i understand =D

  • So why can't all these big giant corporations speed up websites they want sped up and not slow down the others?

  • this add may be sarcastic, ironic or just clever but seems to me very ambiguos and does'nt educate in the issue.it doesn't convey a clear message.

  • google may be a very powerfull entity on the internet but that dosent mean there bad i mean they always make stuff open source which is good. but they are dead wrong if they think verizon and them can get away with what there trying to sell now.

the internet belongs to the people

  • This ad isn't from Google.

  • Google =/= The Internet

  • It just amuses me how there are people here being all "stop using google nao." Oh sweet irony.

  • I hope they call it something classy like 'Happy Big Brother Net' hehe

  • I still do not understand this advertisement. Is net neutrality part of leaving the business to the corporations or to the users?

  • @wevenhuis to the users (it's a sarcastic commercial)

  • @wevenhuis Net Neutrality means that the corporations can't limit band width of content.

  • Most of the comments so far really show how BAD informed even heavy users seems to be. Unbelievable.

  • parislemon should put in the description a small introduction, that this video is a commercial Google made in 2006... when Google was in favor of net neutrality... but that it's now doing an about face.

  • This video defines "irony."

  • @Metaris It's not irony. Google willingly changed it's policy (I believe).

  • Oh an it's becoming pretty obvious they are in on the whole new world order agenda, wake up before it's too late, within a few years it will be impossible starting with this deal between verizon and google.

  • Stop using all google's services, nothing they do is unique. Use bing, get a real mailclient, get a non-android phone, use firefox instead of chrome. Do it today.

  • @MrCauthon2 Why exactly is Bing an improvement? Unlike Google, Bing censors its content for various purposes, doesn't use ht.tps (without a period), locks in users with its Windows Mobile platform, is lead by the vicious, monopolistic Microsoft, collaborates with Yahoo!, who has been revealed to have sold data of Chinese dissidents to the Chinese government, etc.

If you're concerned about privacy, you should try Duck Duck Go as a search engine.

  • @Mirek002

The reason why Bing is an improvement over Google: NO GOOGLE INSTANT.

  • Did the pot call the kettle black? These days you never know if a corporation is really cool or just knows what we think is cool and attempts to emulate it, just like McCain or that new Quayle AD

Google knows when i visit EVERY SITE I VISIT. under all those guises like googleapis googlesyndication etc. get NoScript for Firefox and see for yourself

  • Screw GOOGLE! They're the most evil computer company ever created.

  • @supermaucat ermm.. no, that's microsoft.

  • @phillipjfry6 I don't think so. MS is on the way down. Google's the one with incalculable control over the Internet.

    Google MUST BE STOPPED!

  • @supermaucat

that Google has power doesn't mean they're evil

it doesn't lock customers to its products, it works on open-source projects -- notably Android and Chromium [unbranded Google Chrome], from which they get no direct profit, and when it comes to courts, it rarely (if ever) sues others without the others suing first.

MS, Apple, and others, on the other hand, tend to be a bit more dangerousl

  • @Mirek002 Wow... if you don't work for Google PR, you've been seriously FOOLED by Google!

What's the default search, store etc for Android and Chrome?

You're completely delusional if you think that Google's not profiting from Android or Chrome.

QUit drinking Google KoolAid... it's poisonous.

  • @supermaucat He said not direct profit, which they aren't. Indirectly through ads, yes. Maybe you should read what he said before bashing him.

  • @scots79 He's a fool for thinking that Google's releasing Android and Chrome for "charity" or "good of the Internet". What he wrote is NONSENSE!

He's just another delusional, brainless Google fanboy who can't even figure out Google's intentions.

  • @supermaucat

I never said it's "charity": I said that Android and Chromium are open-source projects that don't directly produce profit for Google (just like most open-source projects, like Firefox, LibreOffice, etc.).

As an open-source advocate, I prefer Google over most of the bigger tech companies (but in no way think it's angelic), based on factual info I've collected over the years. I'm always willing to change my stance, though, so feel free to present facts that go against what I say.

  • @supermaucat

Android: It varies from phone to phone. There are a number of phones with Bing preinstalled. Because Android is open source, all carriers can choose any search engine or store to bundle (unlike with all the other competing OS's, like Windows Phone or iOS).

Chrome: You can choose the default search. You can remove Google completely. You can rewrite Chromium to work with your own app store, your extension store, etc.

If I'm wrong, tell me how it's making money.

  • @phillipjfry6 errrmm no thats GOOGLE , screw them , open your eyes , they are taking over all services

  • @amazingagain At least google is trying to stay open-source and mostly free. Check out windows7sins(dot)org

  • @phillipjfry6 This is nothing but Google propaganda. Don't you read the news? Do a web search for Google and Verizon together and see what you get. Then ask yourself, which Internet is Google talking about here, wired or wireless?

  • @amazingagain Taking over all services? Please. You're free to switch from any Google service. Google doesn't tie you down. Search, e-mail, RSS reading, maps, ..., all that you can get elsewhere. You can use Chromium instead of Chrome -- exactly the same, except without Google branding and some proprietary stuff like built-in Flash.

It's a lot easier to switch from Google than from, say, Windows or iOS or Facebook.

  • @Mirek002 google switch convenience of services for your privacy! , chromium is just an open source , chrome its still google will the google update rubbish spying on your pc , and stop defending google , i bet you work for them , you cant compare it to IOS or windows they are operating systems , not services , you could use myspace instead of facebook

  • @amazingagain Actually, despite all the media hype, Google has a relatively good privacy track record. It has always allowed users to set specific privacy options, it's alerted certain Chinese activists when there was an attempt to hack into their emails, it supports the Tor project, it supports htt.ps, etc. Yahoo, on the other hand, has been found to have given out user info on several occasions.

But if you don't trust Google, then install Firefox and use Duck Duck Go as a search engine.
