Man I wish I had made it. I was goign to go but I got arrested back in March and was stuck in a prison cell. Total bummer. I have wanted to goto Easter Island since I was 7 years old. Hopefully I will be able to afford to go sometime int he future. I just about lost everythign last year when I was arrested. :(
Glad you had a blast. I am suprized to see only one stage, and curious where all the money went? I reserved a ticket as many others, and was unable to afford the prices of the flights, as they steadily grew. :-( Happy to see that they were able to pull it together.
I want to know more about what happened... was it just pure lack of ticket sales? Or was it terribly bad orginisation? Did Shpongle play? It looks like very few people were there, why is that?
I think my main critique about the format of promotion, and what put me off ultimately, was the $500 now, $600 after December, $700 after Jan, $800 after Feb that made it seem too pressured and money focused. If it was just $500, flat rate-buy when you want- I would have felt less focused ticket price)))((
Insightful! I feel mixed emotions after watching this. I truly wanted to attend this festival. I dithered... and dithered about whether I could justify spending £1500 quid (from borrowed credit) to allow me to have this experience. I decided, that sadly, I could not do it, unless it was money I had earned/saved myself, not credit. Then I lost my job in Feb 2010. I still could have borrowed the money to come. I know that I would have remembered Rapa more than a credit card debt when I die.
thank you for this honest video! i, and at least five other friends of mine all payed for our 500 dollar tickets but couldn't afford the flights from canada. but i pretty much don't mind that i supported such an incredible event! though, i am very surprised that only 200 people arrived? i expected more than that for sure...
this was truly a family party. with so few festival goes, by the end you knew everybody. the weather also made for some hard times, but it rarely changed the number of people on the dance floor.
i am genuinely thankful for everything that happened on the island during the month i was there and would change it for anything in the world.
it was definitely worth every penny spent.
and thank you again elliot and jordan and all the extremely hard working volunteers who made the party possible.
@lunarseed23 Good, because the carrying capacity of Easter Island is stretched as it is without 1500 hippys turning up demanding all the luxuries of a European festival on the side of a volcano in the middle of a national park and international heritage site!
Thanks abe

Happy to see you guys had fun.
i agree, it isn't about the money, but the $800 ticket price coupled with the >£1500 flight cost from the UK made it impossible for most...

@lunarseed23 p.s. I shopped around and got my flight return for £640. It all depends on what day you fly on.
