i used to play terran but muta ling harass is so fuckin annoying. select knew it was coming and still couldnt defend it. i think he shoulda rine rushed to set idra back some so select could build a good antiair defense

just adding my 2 cents - reason why select lost this series

sc2 is ultimately a macro game, revolving around the mining system.

that being said, select just plain lost because he didn't keep up with idra's macro, hellion expand when you KNOW idra is gonna 14-hatch is a terrible idea, because it's just PRAYING that your opponent is going to be caught off-guard and hoping for your harass to work and catch up. he should have just 1-barrack expand.

not hard to see why he lost. just saying.

@paulkvu Hellion early expand is to gain map control not to kill workers. What it does is it lets you delay your barrack production a lil bit more and instead favour a macro style

@paulkvu I agree with the part about not keeping up with macro, but I disagree with the reason. Indeed select lost because he couldn't keep up with macro. However, this is because he is trying to compete with Idra in his forte. I think select would have had a better chance if he exploited Idra's weakness in the early game. He should keep the games early to mid, not late, since Idra will roflstomp him.

@deathbforgot I've not did much research into the new units but are tempests going to be slow, high tech and expensive? If yes then I don't see how they would make idra change his style. The baby thors might pose tons or risk to muta play though if they splash damage. I sorta hope they (both) do counter muta play somewhat just to see how idra will adapt since he's so reliant on his mutas. The nexus recall scares me most of anything though.

The Muta-Baneling/Zergling strategy needs to be looked at, I've seen way too many games in which Terran have no answer to it provided Zerg control their units properly. Mass Muta is insanely hard to counter, for both P and T.

By the way,this game shows why Terrans are FORCED to use Ghosts.Zerg usually have a lot of Mutas/Corruptors,so getting Vikings is pointless, especially because Zerg can insta-switch to Ultras and steamroll everything.Ghost is the only thing keeping T alive late game.

mass marines beats mass mutas anytime.
