I've lived in TX, lived in St. Louis. My memories of Texas are roaches the size of a Buick, and non-stop crime from illegals. (Like stealing Christmas lights off of bushes...)
Perhaps Texas has its bright spots, but McCracken can kiss our collective ass here in St. Louis!
It's a fine response. I guess maybe if pro baseball and a few nice historic buildings are the things that make a city great, then St. Louis is. Most people just see it as dying, like most of the midwest... but whatever. My real problem with this video is the lie that McCracken is republican. I'm not sure where they got this piece of info but it's blatantly false.
BTW, LOVE the "Force to Be Reckoned With" picture toward the end. It took work to do this, and I really respect your pride in St. Louis. I get that, and I still love the city. I just want McCracken to win. He's right. Leffingwell and Strayhorn could run this city into the ground. Maybe St. Louis is the wrong example, but Dayton doesn't carry the same power.
"There ain't much goin' on there since they closed the mill." Exactly. We just don't want to end up with "mill closings." This is an Austin thing. Quit thinking you have anything to do with it. Nobody hates St. Louis down here. But if you want to discuss it, I've been in both. Not going back. He's right, and most people aren't willing to come at Brewster McCracken with actual facts. Otherwise, you'd have to admit he's right. Wanna compare real estate markets right now?
Why do people care what a shit kicker from where the men are men and the sheep are nervous says? What people fail to realize is St. Louis was a major hub on the ole Miss. a hundred years ago. Sure it's on the decline due to government subsidies to rural areas since the '30's depression. Launchpad McQuacken pointed out St. Louis but in all actuality you could say and show the same degredation in cities such as Philly, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, etc. also.
statistically you're WRONG. what if I told you that I was 50 and that I voted for BHO?what if I said I was 32 and voted for Ron Paul? what about 18 and voted for McCain? Would you be less offended by my original post? My post was not meant to offend anyway. It was to motivate people to remove their rose-colored glasses. Why did this TX politician's ad piss you off?yes st. louis has many positive things, but he was right when he pointed out the decline fromthe 4th largest in 1904 to now.
minority republican? By that do you mean black? or were you refering to republicans being minority? Either way, you're wrong, so I suppose it doesn't matter. As far as not putting my city down--st louis is my city and I know you didn't put it down--that was the point of my comment. You cannot ignore all that St. Louis has wrong with it! So, since I'm not one of those*gasp* REPUBLICANS, can we be friends now?
whoa Nellie! I did not turn anything into a racial argument. I merely asked in what context you were using "minority" (i.e. adjective describing republicans, or noun refering to a group of nonmajority in population terms (i.e. black). YOU were the one to throw out LABELS with your statistical analysis. Race and/or political affiliation is totally irrelevant, IMO. Now, take a deep breath...it's all good...really.....
where's the picturesof beautiful north city architecture?wait, I guess you're afraid of getting your head shot off trying to get that pic.where's the pic of all the industry/business downtown? wait you just showed AB--who SOLD OUT TO A FOREIGN COUNTRY!! truth must hurt, but don't get snotty, do something to improve downtown, school system, crime rates, STD rates, etc...
Oh, please. Austin??

Ya'll are sure defensive down there. Let us have our pride in our city - you have yours in your choice. I'm just glad I live here and not in Austin.
By the way, you live 326 miles from the Mexican border and we live 1,156 miles from it. Sucks to be you - again!
Peace OUT!

Are you telling me I can't believe everything I read?
shellyford4309 2 years ago
i'm not sure what you mean. Do you care to elaborate?

Dear amntng -
Statistically, I believe you are under 30 years old and one of the minority republicans.
On a separate note, I did not put down your city - I celebrated ours. We are proud of St. Louis!
I hope you can still say the same if your republican is elected.
Peace!

It's a marathon, not a sprint. Civic Improvement starts with Civic Pride. This video makes me proud of my City, warts and all. Nice job Shelly! :)
Peace! Indeed.
