  • she was one hell of an artist :)

  • i like to do pots

  • I was a resident of New Mexico for several years and am now an art teacher in the northeast. I have been inspired by and share the work of Maria and her family each year with my young students. They are always convinced they can 'copy' the style of the San Ildefonso pottery, but once they have their hands on the clay and slip, they realize just how difficult this artform is. Thank you for providing this video for us to view.

  • MEXICANS ARE NATIVES AND INDIGENOUS PEOPLE no matter if we speak other lenguage diferent that our ancient ancestors. That was somethig we couldn't choose becouse Christianism and spanish lenguage were impose by the europeans or u got kill 4 not obbey Anyway Here are some of the greates cultures MEXICA, MAYA, TOLTECA, TEOTIHUACAN ...... all this cultures were thousans of years before columbus arrives this continent and we the Mexicans,Guatemalans, Salvadorians...are DIRECT DECENDENTS OF THEM.

  • she is New Mexican as in one of the fifty states

  • ummmmm,are mexicans native americans?

  • yankeee82090 your a dumb ass the spanish names if your native are not our names there forced names so wake up

  • smarti, they are not forced names, alot of native americans either because of marriage or other reasons have hispanic names, it does not make them any less native american, besides in the areas here hispanic and native people have been intermarring eachother for so long its not unusual for many natives to have spanish surnames.i think if anyone need to do the waking up its you my friend.

  • actually ssszar ur half right,,when the spanish came to mexico they started givin indians spanish names even if they had there own name,,,so yea some were forced and some werent

  • and how did that come about, did some spaniard back in the 1600s walk up to a native american and say, from now on i will call you ortega, or garcia, or which ever name might have been chosen? i dont think the native americans would have been so quick to abandon their own surnames and history.

  • yes actually,,that is what happened to most,,not sayin all but most,,if u read journals mostly written my the cathlic priest at the time ,priest and conquererswould give there own names to the indians not callin them the real names, and they were pretty much forced into it so as the newer generations came thats all they new, this spanish tradition would even carried into mexican culture, example they wouldnt call Goyathlay by his real name they called him "Geronimo" a spanish name

  • i would like to see some of these journals made by these catholic priests, because your throwing out the baby with the bath water ans saying that such things happend most of the time, fact is, unlike the english and the americans the spanish treated the native people very well, today in mexico the native culture and languages are still alive.a native woman marrying a spaniard and taking his name is not wrong.

  • this is things i read about alot, ive even given examples,it seems u jus wanna turn down every thing somebody tells you,and it seems like ur taking this conversation as a battle of intelligence, i told u what i learn from reading alot ,i clearly told you what i learned,if u dont have the interest to look it up urself then i cant do nothin about this,i know if someone told me about something i was interested in i would look it u in a heartbeat, its not hard especially with a computer

  • the mexican government did not speak apache, there for why would they feel an obligation to call geronimo by his name, instead they would hispanize his name, but what that has to do with you attempting to prove your point? i dont turn down everything everyone tells me, i just want you to prove your points, instead of doing that you just tell me to go look it up myself, if this information is so readily found, then it should not be any trouble for you to find it.

  • gerinmo thing was an example like i said and u turned that into being my whole topic, but u seem not to undertsand,,,and then u send me new mexico vids, ill never know why, though interesting, it has nothing to do with the original topic

  • i was simply telling you geronimo was called geronimo, i dont think he called himself by that name, so you example of him is mute, i showed you those vids because you have this notion of the spanish treating the native americans bad simply on the basis some native americans have spanish surnames. the treatment of the natives compared by the spanish and later mexican goverments were far better than the english and american governments

  • yes geronimo didnt call himself geronimo but the mexican spanish did,im jus sayin thats the spanish mexican mentality to name indians after there own names so one of course geronimo the rebel didnt abide by the name but many other conuered natives of mexico did and all i was stating to begin with was the spanish did give natives there names, the spaish though the natives were evil so the converted them to cathlism, and after every baptism they were baptised with a spanish name, this is fact

  • the catholic faith calls us to convert everyone, that does not mean we think people are evil simply because they are not catholic, that is your misunderstanding of the faith, and its customary in those days as it is in some parts of the world today for the god parents to name to baptised,,thank you for ackknowledging what the spanish did which was intermarry with them, and not put them on reservations like the american protestants.
