  • its not working

  • I got all of them off but I accidentally soldered off one of the metal bases under it (the little squares of metal that hold the led) so the led does not light, but I know it works. What can I do? Use solder to replace it?

  • whered you buy your soldering iron?

  • @zemo979 watch the version on my new channel, the link for the soldering iron is at the end of the video

  • or you just buy a fully modded controller of a website.

  • @bassface4lif3 yes, but why spend £30+ on a new one, when for as little as £5 you could mod your own.

  • @kindsbach2 cause if your clumsy or dont have steady hands then you cant do it

  • i baught that screw driver for 1 penny on amazon

  • Lol smd leds!!!!

  • my soder better than yours nu uh mines better

  • I need to know how to fix the contact if one accidentally came off?

  • @saywhat23651 Get a pin/screw and lightly scratch the contact line just by the contact untill u create a new small contact. it is fiddily but saves you buying a new controller.

  • 0603 LEDs

  • does anyone know whats the size of the led's ?

  • thanks for that tip to buy the leds from phenotrix. you saved me a good chunk of money.

i live in The Kickass United States Of Fuck Yeah America so all the cheap leds dont show up. I still have to wait forever for them to get here though

  • @168Kamikaze No problem

  • how many watts is ur soldering iron

  • @randomTVzZ 12W. (maplin dot co dot uk, order code YU90X) its the soldering iron designed for SMD leds as it has a VERY fine tip

  • @kindsbach2 thanks

  • hey i ended up putting too much pressure on one of the leds and removed one of the contacts. what can i do to fix it?

  • @707Chubby Get a pin/screw and lightly scratch the contact line just by the contact untill u create a new small contact. it is fiddily but saves you buying a new controller.

  • Great video

  • Who gives a fuck? too much work for something that doesn't even affect how you play the game

  • Where can u buy leds an what type shoulf they be for. The ring

  • @verdebaur i get mine from ebay, you need 0603 SMD Leds.

I buy from the ebay store 'phenoptix' they have a wide range of colours at low prices depending on the colour.

The store has 26K+ Feedback , Power Seller & Top-Rated Seller. Its UK based store so if you live out of the UK and do check they deliver to you first.

  • @kindsbach2

hi id like to kno if u can do tht fo me

    message me on my email

    djmaxmen@aim.com

  • Thanks for the video. some other dumb shit had a video with his positives and negatives wrong with the symbol on the bottom of the l.e.ds. very helpful but i have to buy more l.e.d.s for the rest of my controllers since that guys video showed me the wrong way with the others. i really appreciate it tho

  • I personally keep adding solder until a small blob covers the led and it comes off in the blob leaving clean contacts.

  • em do you nudge the leds side to side with the soldering iron

  • Nice work on the Guide, very clear. Someone just linked it in our forums. Many thanks for the link to our ebay store.

    Cheers

  • smd led lol

  • Gah i was doing this so well i got to the fourth LED and then my soldering iron melted the anolouge stick bit >.<!!!! Then i burned the 4th LED bit so i have to get a new motherboard to make my controller look good lol :D

thanks for the video tho :) im saving this so i know which way the cathodes are :D

  • caant you buy them from a shop? in uk because im nt sure about ebay because they are realy small and i wouldnt want them to break

  • i dont understand how u make the leds stay with out actually using solder

  • its hard the fuckin led doesnt stay in place even with tweezers

  • @G1itch3rsRus they do, try and hold one half with tweezers, so one half is exposed, position the led and solder the exposed connection. then the led should stay put and you can solder the other connection :)

  • would "0603 SMD LED Blue Ultra Bright 140 mcd" work for this?

  • i took led lights out of my old phone, will those work?

  • wheres your other analog??

  • @Mdude181 its probably an old controller that doesnt work so he did a tut on that

  • how many mcd should they be?

  • So, is soldering the same as hot gluing, in the sense that you touch the LED to the circuit board with the soldering iron and it will "stick"?

  • Comment removed

  • @GMRright They are 0603 SMD Leds. I buy mine from phenoptix, they are an ebay store based in England so if your from the USA then check they will deliver there if buy them from them. they are cheap too at about £2 ($3) for 10

  • @GMRright u r a retard in the little bit at the start saying where to get the staff it says at the bottom 0603 led ebay illiterite is what I call your disease

  • Narkill I can't understand you you fucktward

  • Very Good Explination! 5/5 stars. Only problem is the Video quality, otherwise Great movie.

  • Great, thanks for what you've done for us - this is the best explaination we found and very easy to understand.

  • Narkill, shut up. He has an accent. I met him on a site where he left. I wish he'd come back...

  • at 1:18 theres a diagram

  • does the cathode end of the LED go on the dotted port? I have LEDs from phenoptix, and they have this shaped green thing on the bottom... []=l... like a rectangle? so does the green side go onto the dotted side?

  • thank you alot great tutorial 5 stars

  • got the LEDs, screwdrivers on the way, and i have 2 soldering irons... or ill buy a better 1... thanks

  • Very helpful thanks

  • i don't care what anyone says - this has been so helpful and my controller looks epic because of this XD

  • wow i love the idea on helping your fellow gamers by showing them how to do it, but you think you can do another video with out this one being so shaky?

  • cant you just use crazy glue or somethin

  • wow your dumb

  • i used crazy glue and it worked good for me

  • Haha your really a retard because the currencey for americans is not pounds lol....

  • And you are a retard for not paying attention. He also listed the amount for u.s currency

  • Yeah only for one item you retard... do you listen?

  • Because we can just go around the corner to Ron's Happy Hardware store and buy a T8 Torx screwdriver simply because they dont sell them.

  • u can buy a T8 Torx screwdriver and yes they do sell them but not a T8 Torx screwdriver security hole cause they are illegal to sell in local stores cause u need one to make a proton cannon or a particle accelerator VERY DANGEROUS!

  • thats a lie. its not illegal. i bought one from northern tool

  • thats what the guy at lowes told me and he was 70 and had experience so i belived him

  • If you have no contact you use the fine point of a screw to scratch a new line into the board to make it connect. Simple, nothing to worry about just rescratch it in.

  • i have the same question as gizmoe187

  • i took off the contact...what do u mean scratch???

    plz help

  • use a screw driver a - one and carefully etch the contact back where it was before ( be very careful )

  • Any Soldering Iron Will Work but you wonnt one with a fine point

  • Would this be ok to use, 60 WATT 240 VOLT SOLDERING IRON ....i found it on ebay for around £7.00

  • lol i broke my controller so heres my chance to experiment with it, nice vid btw

  • Any Solder Will Work Fine

  • Well Described video Well done on making it i dont have led lights but i found quite cool how the lights were orange :D Well done Matey

  • does it matter what kind of solder i use?

  • really cool man thnx

  • Yes I Found That Using A Large Amount Of Solder You Remove The Led Quicker AND Safer As Its %99 Affective and As Long As You Dont Keep On For Ages (im Talking Minuets) It Removes The Led With Ease, Leaves No Damage And Pre Solderd Contacts So No Extra Solder Is Needed.

  • it is to if u want to take off the old led

  • is bathing the led in solder easier

  • Tells You In Video.

  • What size MM led is required for these controllers?

  • Little Tip For Getting The LED'S off without damaging the board:

Simply Keep Adding Solder To The LED Untill It Just Comes Off In The Solder.

My Fav Way Of Doing It

  • Aye great vid, very nice illustrations for the cathode/anodes on the leds that will hopefuly make my first attempt less hit and miss getting them the right way.

  • Cool.

  • Great job. Very detailed. I know a website that sells those leds in bulk for real cheap.
