  • I remember this song well from 1975. It went #2 on the Billboard Country singles chart and #1 on the charts in Canada.

Kenny got his big break with the LORETTA LYNN Show in the early 1970's and that lead to his recording contract with MCA Records. I remember seeing Kenny with Loretta on Hee Haw and Pop Goes The Country as a kid.

Loretta Lynn did a lot for his career. I hope he appreciated her!

  • I like Loyal Garner's version of this song more... IDK Y but I think its cause with a female's voice it gives it a bit more oomph to it's meaning.

  • @ldm9 Trebbe

  • @ldm9 Are you serious? He gave me guitar lessons! He's a great man. I love Kenny.

  • anyone who likes this song... listen to "deaf man in the shteeble"

  • God every time I hear this song it makes me cry. Men aren't supposed to cry. Whoever wrote that line never say this song and if they saw it and it dosen't bring a lump and a tear or too, you are not

    a man

  • this is my fav. song of all times

  • When I was growing up in Illinois Kenny would occasionally come visit us in Illinois. My mom and aunt went out a couple times and stayed with him and his wife in Tn. His real name, if I remember right is Kenny Trebbe. I hope I spelled that right. Anyway, he was a super nice guy. He did play on the Grand ol' opry years ago and sang on a morning show. He was good friends with Mel Tillis and Loretta Lynn. Loretta sang a song with him on his record.

  • Every time I hear this it reminds me of my Dad who was blind.

This song and Taps are the only two that ALWAYS bring tears to my eyes.

One of those love hate things I guess. I love the song and hate to hear it because it tears me up.

  • Love this song Thanks
