At 0:27 his messianic delusions come out. He realizes what he's saying, and quickly tries to water it down and backpedal. On xconomy . com, he said that OLPC "created the netbook market." That's laughable. OLPC is a joke.

Negroponte is doing something he believes in. Deluded or not, it's a helluva lot more than most people in the world are doing.

@DominicMetal1979 While you laugh, 380,000 kids in my country are learning with this computers, and 2 days ago, kids in High-school started to get them. Keep making fun, while you waste your time, my people are learning from this computers. Besides music, and many other programs, now they can also learn English as a second lenguage.

These people do not have to do ANYTHING for ANYONE.....Instead of spending valuable time, research, money and many other things on trivial pursuits, out of the kindness of their hearts they give their own resources to aid the less fortunate. This is more than I can say for the most of us. It is very easy to sit behind a computer screen and critisize efforts, but for the same people to do something about these issues, I doubt people who show such presumptuousness would even lift a finger.

How about stopping multinational companies and their gray-zone channels who are exploiting Republic of Kongo for coltan ore, and where 4 MILLIONS people died violently in the past 6-7 years, instead of this Bono/Gates/Soros humanitarian circus performance for cleaning bad conscience of "good souls"?

@Naum830 I'd like to point out that Microsoft and Apple were actually opponents to this program. Microsoft tried to get OLPC to use windows on their system and Intel have released a rival system, one they actually profit from...unlike the XO where the vast majority of the money goes into production, shipping and development.

because they can use it to get all the things you talk about. Giving them food etc will do nothing as it always has.
