  • I use a vacuum attached to a contraption that traps the water in the bottom to dry my samples. Works wonders, even in -35 C. Dries them in under 2 minutes.

  • @Smyrk420 That sounds nifty. We used a small frying pan and a hot plate or a little pie pan and heat lamp.

  • thanks, who do you work for and where are yall out of?..im normally offshore but just started in the land side and i think its better having Lil more freedom..the bad part is being going for long periods of time, but i have a family to take care of so its just a small sacrifice i have to make...I really enjoy it and have it all down packed except for calculating lag on paper...and also i don't want to tell my company one thing and they call my bluff lol.

  • hey buddy,, I been "catching" for about 6 months now, i really like that job would you say i stick wih it being that i have kids and a family or being that im only 24 should i find something with more steady days off?..

  • @9919nick Mudlogging is definitely a steady secure job. For the amount of work you actually do, the pay is quite good. If you're looking for a pay raise, look around at other mudlogging companies and see how much they could give you. I find that you can force your current employer into bargaining wages just to keep employees. My buddy just did that and got a 5 dollar raise on the hour just by contacting a competitor and forcing his current employers hand on compensation.

  • The highest paid geo i met made almost $1500 a day, how much do you make?

  • @DaUsualSuspect1 I know some geos who make that only on offshore locations. I don't make nearly that much, but it's enough to pay the bills :)

  • @bailesie I met another Geo in school the other day that did a career change, she said she made $900/day and that was 10 years ago. Alberta Oil Baby!!

  • @bailesie Congrats on the upgrade. I have been around some logging companies that tried to call us "Wellsite Geologists" but it didn't really stick.

  • Hello Friend. I am in North Louisiana. The 182 days were worked on multiple jobs, I just went from one job to another. The most I have ever worked on one well was prob around 115 days or so. I am really glad to hear that they have new equipment over there now. Good equipment makes the job so much better. Where are you working?

  • @totle71268 Just south of Morgantown, WV. Won't be working as a logger much longer, just got hired as a wellsite geologist for the Towanda, PA region :D

  • Remember we are here for the gas and formation evaluation. I have been in the business about 11 years, and thankfully have never been laid off. The longest I have ever worked without a day off was 182 days. Thanks!

  • @totle71268 It's definitely a job that comes with security (as long as you don't screw around and get runoff by the CM for something stupid!) And 182 days? Holy hell, brother! Whereabouts are you working?

  • Hey man, first I want to thank you for bringing attention to this great career we have, known has Mud-Logging. Most videos on here I have seen just trash the whole business. I have spent years trying to restore this reputation. I do want to share a thought as constructive criticism if I may. If your filament is acting up it needs to be replaced or you need to find out why it is acting up.

  • @totle71268 Yeah, I really do enjoy this job! You're pretty much your own boss; as long as you have good time management skills to get things done in the allotted time.... As far as our filament: Won't have to worry about that anymore. We got some new equipment that's pretty much the equal to the redbox. Chesapeake doesn't seem to care much about chromatographs so much as they do TG, so that's all we put on our logs :D

  • Hair products all over the world

  • hey bro I have some questions about mud logging as an entry level. can I have ur e mail. My name is syed

  • @photolitherland

It definitely takes someone with the right personality. I really enjoy this job, honestly, even though you can be away from home for a while. Some companies will 'rotate' you so many days on and off, but it's never guaranteed. So far, the longest well I've done was over 40 days straight, but it also depends on the rig you're on. Some can TD a well in 2 weeks whereas it takes mine quite a bit longer. If you want more info, shoot me a message :)
