Eric Clapton duetted with most of the great guitarists of the world especially Blues based players with two very conspicuous exceptions. Gary Moore and Robben Ford. Clapton resided in the Albert Hall for weeks on end for 20 years known as the Clapton Proms and many guitarists guested on those shows. When Gary Moore was asked why he never guested he replied 'Eric never asked me'. That was always a mystery to me. Hmmmmm!
@wiltner Well, i've seen Gary live and i wouldn't really say that he's known for his kindness. I once read that he was very respected for his music but not really liked as a person back then. So, maybe that's a reason but i guess we'll never know why. Still, i've asked myself this very same question over and over again. He didn't even apear at any of the crossroads guitar festivals.
@Sherlock88 now that you mention it I have heard that same complaint from others. Not a nice person. I have heard him described as an arsehole! I didn't think of that. That could be a possible reason alright. Eric would book people he respects and likes. As you say we'll never know now. Thanks for the comment.
@wiltner I've seen Gary live and can't say that i found him very nice that evening, he came 2,5 hours late and started yelling at fans between songs. I later read that besides being well respected in the music scene multiple musicians stated that they didn't really enjoy working with him as a person...How ever we'll never know. It's a shame he never even got on stage at the crossroads guitar festival. A shame.
How did Steve Vai get brought up? Joe Satriani was always the more expressive and blues based of the two great virtuosos; Vai is more experimental and Frank Zappa like. Besides, without these guys, you wouldn't have that kind of virtuoso rock/metal. All modern guitar technique is based on Robert Johnson's chops; he took blues from a horns/woodwind thing and applied it to guitar. He is so influential that Jimi Hendrix wouldn't talk to people who didn't know who Johnson was. Win.
This is the music that we, I and my friend, used to perform tapping with when we drove in Jalal -Ale-Ahmad Highway, Tehran, Iran at 6 AM. People watching us and enjoying the wonderfulness of the music and our performance :D.... some of them were not even conscious and they were sleepy! but laughing and enjoying and sometimes initiating same tapping theme with us... Really great days! unforgotten moments.... Warm greetings to my friend "HOOMAN" and those of you who really love this masterpiece
Why the hell do you try to compare BB King to Steve Vai. they're both awesome, but they each play really different kinds of music, with different way to feel it.

It's a crime to even mention Steve Vai in the same breath as B.B. King.
B.B. King is one of the very best guitar players to have ever lived. Steve Vai is a child. Listen to some of BB's stuff from the early 70s and see how much intensity he can build up with just a few phrases.
Steve Vai, and all those like him, are bad guitarists because they think that soul can be substituted for speed.
stfu... 2 different styles 2 different backgrounds... arent you fkin broad minded enough to have room for or tolerate other taste .. singularly defending one artist over another.. supporting your own self important opinions.. and on behalf of the legend side of thie BB ... its easy to play the blues ... but its hard to feel them..
Steve Vai will admit he's not a particularly good blues player. WHich is one reason Ry Cooder played the blues stuff on the movie soundtrack. Steve did the ripping classical type solo.
Vai is who he is, and BB is who he is. How can you compare the two? Two different styles entirely, much less genres. Like having two cooks, one who cooks Italian which you love, and another Chinese which you might not like as much. Does this make the Italian a better cook?
Roman's trolling, but yeah... Vai probably is a better guitarist than BB. He and Ry Cooder composed the music for the Crossroads film, sot here's no doubt he can write and perform blues music.
So yeah, I gotta say that Vai is > BB... even if I like BB's music more.
Steve Vai is a great guitarrist, butt it's nothing compared to BB King.
Every single note BB plays means somethin and it's filled with passion,Stave Vai on the other hand can play 1000 note in 20 seconds, but those notes don't have any meaning(compared to BB's)
great song! King's... well, the KING, and Clapton is wonderful in a supporting position here. maybe better than on his own on his last few records? who's to say? all i know is that THIS ROCKS! let 'er bleed, man! let 'er bleed!
I don't think you can call one of the many great guitarists we have a piece a of shit. They all have their own great things. And also, BB King was way before Steve Vai, so maybe without BB King there would't even be a Steve Vai. Just saying.
@romanriquelme1 UR SUCH A FAG! CALL ME THE DAY STEVE VAI LEARN HOW TO PLAY THE BLUES.... CAUSE U KNOW WHAT? IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN, HE CAN BE FASTER THAN ANYBODY BUT HE CANT PLAY THE BLUES, AND WHEN HE TRIES, HE SUCKS... SO HE WILL NEVER LEARN ;)
@xOEHLALA there definitely wouldn't be. Without BB king there would be no SRV, no Clapton, no Vai, Halen. He Influenced music itself, not just the blues. Less is more can never be proven more than throwin on some BB king.

I don't like this finger pointing attitude... I'm clever then you bla bla bla .. what would happen if you started agreeing instead of the disagree, thats so easy for you .. fools, listen, learn create!!
