The incident burnt down his house and caused him to lose all his vintage guitars (the house you can see in the film "Stuff" directed by johnny depp). he was close to losing his arms aswell from burns and the fact he injected heroin so recklessly, his needle marks would become scabby and he would pick them till they got infected (this you can see in video for life is a bath).

My favourite Chilis is probably Mother Milk - Dave Navaro probably made the last true Chilis album before they stopped funk completely.
