This video attracted me because the way I got to love airguns started way back in 1972 when I was 14. I went to Canadaian Tire and bought myself a Daisy Buck bb gun (rifle) I remember that it held 400 bbs in it's reservoir. I had so much fun with that gun. It would break the old stubby beer bottles at 40 feet. I next was given a Crosman Peacemaker revolver in 1975 as I gift. That hooked me !
I got this gun...it didn't even shoot ONE bb...never chamber....and when i pull the trigger there was no noise or anything to signal that the bb even come out or to see if the gun was working...
@Countryboyhad Actually, sounds like it was on SAFE to me. Mine has worked flawlessly through about 1,000 BBs shot. In fact, it seems to be getting better with use: easier to cock, easier trigger pull, less oil discharge from the muzzle, and resulting better accuracy. I am also getting used to the firm trigger.
I admit that it occasionally fails to feed a BB, but that it to be expected due to the design and is no worse in that regard than the modern, steel handled Daisy 1928b Red Ryder.
Hello , I got The marlin cowboy at Christmas , its very good and a lot of fun but every now and then it does not chamber a BB, is ther any tips on how to avoid this , or is it a usual problem with lever action BB guns , I have many airpistols and shotguns , but this is the first old style BB gun I have aquired,,, GHR
Thinking of getting this gun soon, is there any other cool airguns with multiple bb capacity? Tired of loading each shot one by one, lol. Living in Sweden btw, nice video.
what would happen if I used a plastic bb rather than a metal one? I don't have a huge amount of space (all I'd be doing is shooting tin cans off a wall)
@007spartangamer When he is 6 and if I feel he is ready, I will give it to him but not unsupervised. Every kid is different and your parents may not understand guns, when people don't understand things they tend to fear them or avoid them. If I was you I would start by educating yourself and your parents about guns without ramming them down their throat. When they see that you are being responsible about it and trying to educate yourself about guns and gun safety they may change their mind.
@007spartangamer im 11 and i started shooting my dads crosman 2220k i think it was when i was about 6 then reciently arround christmas a friend of my family gave me a beastly crosman 140 22 cal pel rifle and it rocks when you do get one stay away from co2 for atleast rifles you will go through co2 fast and it is expencive to shoot betwene co2 and amo
@007spartangamer lol thats not too young to start shooting but as long as you dont let them run around with it and shoot it on there own start them as young as yoou can
my self i started shooting at 3 that was with a .22lr rifle not allowed to take it on my own till about 8 years old you need to be able to know the safety rules of firearms before you can shoot by your self
The smoke coming out from the barrel upon firing the gun no doubt has to do with the oil that is used to lubricate it. When I was a small child, I had this toy gun that would make smoke by using oil. You would put oil down the muzzle and then when you shot it, it would somehow make smoke from the oil as a great special effect.
@YouthFreedomFighters I have a daughter but she is not into guns at all, she is a girly-girl and that's OK. If she becomes interest in guns then I can look into a pink gun for her ;)
So what is that device you use to measure velocity? I would like to get one and use it to compare the Marlin's velocity with the Red Ryder's velocity. I might make another video where I compare them with that.
@switchingtomac Well if you get him a brand new one in the box, you can then put it behind a desk for Christmas and point it out after all the other gifts have been opened and say Santa left it.
@YouthFreedomFighters I bought the one I have to give to him, I have the box for it and he will get it much like you suggest and I'm sure there will be a big grin on his face!
@switchingtomac Well that would work too, or you could just put the rifle under the tree, out of the box and all. My dad did that when he got me a kentucky rifle cap gun for my 7th Christmas. He put it right next to a remote control army tank which was also out of the box, it was a great Christmas!
I'd agree these style guns are good for starters, i had a red ryder when i was little then i moved up to a crosman single pump rifle and hacked the barrel REALLY short then moved up to a powermaster 66 then to gamo whisper lol, i've always loved bb / pellet guns. Just for the simple fact that you can aim them really high and not have to worry about killing your naybor next door lol.
@elvensbane There is something really appealing about air guns in general. For me it's the simple fact that at any time I can load one up and shoot it out my back door! Safely that is :)
Mike, I have two of these guns and both have that smoke come out when shot, It kinda smells up the house after shooting for awhile, it reminds me of a campfire smell somewhat, I have shot alot of rounds and the smoke keeps coming, do you think it's meant to do this, it dosen't state that it should on the box, lmk, thanks Dave, Nice review.
@TheBennie102103 Do you keep yours oiled up, I know on the Marlin Cowboy, there is a hole to put a few drops of oil into to keep it lubricated. Maybe pressure and the oil are creating the smoke. Personally I like the effect it gives :)
@switchingtomac I have not put any oil yet in either gun, I might be aproching 300 shots now on my first one I bought, I will oil it, but the smoke doesn't seem to be fading away, I like the effect it gives also, but the smell can be a little much indoors. I have a Red Ryder that has no smoke at all when shot, and I've oiled that one a few times now.
@michealati2 I evntually want to get then C31 as I like the look of the Walther P38 and this is a pretty good replica of it. There is no reason why you can't get them both. Just have fun with your 1088 and when you have some more play money, go and buy the C31. The guy sure know how to shoot!
Very similar to the Daisy Red Rider,I also could have picked up this gun at the local outdoorsmen show we went to for $29,I know I should have brought more money! Great video Mike, take care.
@michealati2 The Crosman C31 is a BB only un without a rifled barrel. It is not always about fps and how many rounds it holds. I would rather have the 1088 because of the rifled barrel and ability to shoot more accurate pellets.
Good vid, as you say nice consistency. I would rather have a lower power gun for plinking with good consistency than a higher power one with wildy fluctuating fps.
