trx400? i never herd of that i thought it went from 400ex to a trx450 and that is one of the many quads i have a trx450. and it's amazing, but it's more 50/50 weight also. nothing on it is stock :D
the 700xx is chain drivin the independent rear makes it hevier.....but your right it is ideal for trail...and the baja race..racers were sinking 10 grand into 400s to race there then they took stock 700s and turned faster times
They aren't the best for jumping, but that doesn't mean you can't jump one. Yeah, the 450R will be better for jumping, and it's 100 lbs lighter, but if you trail ride a lot, you're going to want that independent rear. And it's not like the 700XX can't keep up with the 450Rs in the dunes and other places. It's the best overall sport quad on the market.
I'm by no means talking down the 450R, it's an amazing bike. It's just that people buy different bikes for different reasons.
hell ya, i have 3 quads and 2 dirtbikes and my 450 is my favorite :D hits jumps and lands them with no problem at all. it's good fast hits like 77 at top speed maybe 80.
if you know how to ride one of these they are beasts.

well your not totally wrong, the chain comes back and powers shafts to the wheels so its a little of both worlds i guess
