Props on the creativity with Garageband. I use it for almost everything too, I'm impressed. John does have a bit beefier sound than you. Perhaps try a different pickup position or hollowbody if you desire better tone.

Though JM's version has a softer, deeper tone, yours is a bit more... edgy, I guess would be a good word. I really liked it.

I'm planning on getting an electrical guitar in a month or two, since my acoustic just can't do everything, especially with my limited skill. I think this will be the first thing I'll learn how to play electrically. Hopefully I'll find a nice tone :)

All the notes are beautifully sounded, there's some nice vibrato there. I think I'd turn down the twang a little and work on a some phrasing, maybe with a few jazzy type notes outside the major and pentatonic scales. you're much better than me, that's just some friendly advice.
